Still, guys that blow pipes for a living REALLY don't get laid... They blow pipes. What a conversation starter

Lol, Scotty, you have no idea what you're talking about. Do you know how much money concert wind players make for playing in groups like studio music and symphony orchestras? Let me tell ya. ALOT.

I'll give you that the general rockstar makes quite a bit more money than a studio musician, but look at the facts. How many people play guitar? How many make it big? The ratio for "pipe blowers", or whatever your insightful tag was, is MUCH better, meaning that talented wind players have a better chance of being successful in life.

And yes Scotty, what a conversation starter. "Hey, did you see that movie, Spiderman 2? Remember that Saxophone sound whenever the lady superhero showed up? Yeah, that was me."

You KIDDING? That's a GREAT conversation starter. Surely you'd have a greater chance of finding a girl [lol whatever :L] than, "Oh yeah, I play guitar." Nowadays, Scotty, everyone plays guitar.

Don't be ignorant.

Lol. Very well put.

MARCHING BAND, FTW!
lolz, I'm the only boy that plays the flute! :D

hmm... That's true, what MylesPrower said. I think that those guitar people make a lot more, but less people make it that far. Tubas/whatever in a city orchestra don't make as much, but a lot more people get in, and it is still enough to make a living, and more.

I play flute too... :<

Guys I'm just kidding geez :L

I do think that marching bands do sound very nice. But you guys should listen to scottish folk music (I don't personally like it, but we have to listen to it for music class (also not every scottish person does highland dancing btw))

Which reminds me, have any of you americans EVER seen a wild haggis? Incredibly fast wee things :| I had to chase one yesterday

I need to try it; I haven't even blew into one before. I play trombone in band right now, but I might change to Sousaphone next year.

The Bass Clarinet is pretty hard but when you get it down your fingers can just fly on any other Woodwind. Plus it is very versatile. My friend plays the Sousaphone. He says he likes it. Looks fun.

Ok, let me rephrase that... I'm the only boy in my school that plays flute.

We had 2 ppl who play Tuba, but our school didn't have any for them to borrow, so they played Sousaphone for 3 months.

I'm just curious, what music do you guys/girls play for Band? We just finished our show which had the theme of "A night on Broadway" so we played:

Jet Song (from the musical "West Side Story" )
Greased Lightnin' (I forgot which musical it was from...)
and Phantom of the Opera (from the musical "Phantom of the Opera"

I play the violin, 5th stand of the 1st's in my orchestra, but still on the outside of the concert layout. So technically, I'm the worst of the best of my orchestra, which is pretty good.

Our theme this year is "Ritual Fire Dance". Our last score was a 92.55 and we're going into Championships in 2nd =D

Our Christmas concert is Monday, and we are only going to play "Come All Ye Faithful" because Hurricanes Ike and Gustav delayed our learning.

:<

Our marching show was based on the play Wicked, It was a good show, but I personally didnt like it.[/u]

We're doing The Nutcracker, Redwood Festival March and a Festive Christmas Overture and Chorale and Invention. So we're doing alright!

Im also in marching band, unfortunately season is over, but our show was music from Halo and the year before that was batman. I play the baritone ftw.

Done with the concert. It was confusing...and we played soooo good. I was playing so loud and good that everyone was making their instruments quieter to hear me!!!! 8D
