This thread will entail the plan of the tutor program.

Mission: To make players become more knowledgeable about various metagames.

Player Selection: Members will be chosen based on what they want to learn.

Tutor Assigned: This will be done based on what the member wants to learn. A member wanting to learn Ubers would be tutored by me, etc. Time Zones should also be taken into consideration.

Essential Tasks:
-Have multiple battles with the student. While you can go over things in theory, it is much easier to remember if a member is actively practing what you are teaching.

-Teach the student what mistakes they made in the battle and why it was a mistake. If they don't know why something is a mistake, they will be likely to repeat it.

-Have the student make teams. Maybe 1-2 per week. This should help ensure the student is learning how to build proper teams. Make sure you teach how to make effective teams otherwise the same flaws will be made when they make a new team.

-Each member that you are tutoring should have their own thread here. Post updates with each lesson you give to the student. If the student isn't showing up to lessons then it needs to be addressed as well. Discuss things that go well and things that need improvement.

I think once the weekend is over, sign-ups will be closed. At that time, each tutor can pick who they want as students.

Is it just me or did it seem like the program failed? While it isn't the our responsibility to contact our students, it is their responsibility to contact us. Shadow Arceus will still contact me on Skype, but my other student hasn't contacted me in quite a while. Is anyone else in a similar situation?

The only reason the tutoring system works on Smogon is because it has the badge system. It doesn't work here, because there is no motivation for the tutor. Now, that's not to say the tutors are to blame, but there isn't exactly anything pushing them.

I think part of the problem is that the students aren't as interested in learning as they think they are. If they were really interested, they'd still be contacting us.

Perhaps instead we should have a running list of people seeking tutoring and just dump a student and move on to another if the first isn't proactive.
