Strategy

Currently I use this deck when playing for fun, so I have no strategy, really, Besides getting Zekrom all powered up and then knocking out the opeenents Pokemon with him. I want to get into competetitive, so I need to improve this deck and my stategy for playing it.

Thank you, but I really don't want to use a deck that others may use. It could be similar, but do you (or anyone else for that matter) havea ny ideas on how this deck could be improved? I have other cards than these, (much more) and I really don't want ot have ot buy more cards, besides one or two. And, I'm sorry DeckMaster, but you pretty much just said that I'm doing everything wrong, and I find that a little offensive.

First you need to choose a few Pokémon and focus on them. And if you want to get into semi-competitive then you at least need to buy a LOAD of trainers.

More decks:
- Quad Snorlax (lock deck with no energy)
- Kingdra variants
- Other Plasma
- Darkrai/Hydreigon (not worth it currently but still)

sorry if you felt that way i was just saying that you need a strategy and can you tell me all the cards you have and maybe your budget?

Teal, I think semi-competitive is the best term for what I want to get into. lol. I can't say all the cards I have, or all the trainers, but later tonight I should be able to. I'm kinda broke right now in terms of money, but I could probably spend around $15 - $20. I'm also highly open to trades.

EDIT: 250th post!

Always good to try something out of what you've got and work your way up! But Teal is right, Trainers are key to almost every deck. An average sort of balance in most decks is 1/2 Trainers, 1/4 Pokémoon and 1/4 Energy. If there's a specific Pokémon card that you think has potential, looks like it might be fun to play, or even just a card you like the look of, build around that one card and find other Pokémon and Trainers that accompany that card well.

If Zekrom is your card-of-choice here, you may want to look into Eviolite. It softens that 40 recoil damage down to a nice 20, and with a few Potions you can keep up those big hits all game :)

So this deck isn't tournament legal as of now, so this is actually going to be tagged as unlimited. However, if you'd like, I would be more than happy to help you work on a Serperior deck. d: That sounds pretty fun to me.

The other guys are right, however. You are going to need to pick up a few Trainers before you get started, simply because they are needed, (for any deck), to make the deck consistent. Start by getting four Juniper, four N, four Pokemon Catcher, a few Skyla, a few Bianca, and one or two Colress. Two or three Ultra Ball also helps.

OK, I definetly want a Serperior Deck, That's for sure. Even though Samurott's meh bro. :D

For trainers, I have:

Professor Juniper (6)
Pokemon Communication (4)
Revive (4)
Poke Ball (3)
Potion (5)
Energy Retrival (5)
Energy Switch
Full Heal
Switch (6)
Energy Search (3)
Hooligans Jim & Cas
Hugh
N
(If there's no number, I only have one.)

I haven't bought cards in a while, so I only have cards up to Dark Explorers... I feel so newb right now, you have no idea.

It's ok. No worries. That's not bad, but this is what we're probably going to end up using:

4x Juniper
4x Pokémon Communication
1x Energy Switch
1x N
1x Hugh
1x Energy Search
2/3x Potion
2x Revive
1/2x Energy Retrieval
2/3x Switch

Do you have the cards for Serperior?

Yes. 2 of 'em, 5/114 from B&W. I also have a "Toxic Tricks" theme deck that I could use. I believe there is at least a Cheren in there.

Hm, ok. Considering you have no Rare Candy, you'll have to build a deck with 4 Snivy, 3 Servine, and 2 Serperior. Great! Throw the Cheren in there!

I'll add that to the list.

Old rare candies are legal
All cards that have the same name as a card that is in the legal modified format(excluding pokemon) are played under the new text as long as you have a reference. (if you have a card that has the same text as the new card, such as switch, then no reference is needed)

Oh! I knew that this was true... but I though Rare Candies were different.

Yay I love rogues they are fun.
If you are on budget, the basis of this deck is EXTREMELY important, so your Serperior is the one that attacks for 60 and heals right?
So my guess is that you are trying to heal around damage while dishing good damage quickly.
How much rare candies do you have?
