Standard Mega Scizor EX Deck Help

Hey guys, this is my first post on Pokebeach and I wasn't just looking for some advice on a Mega Scizor deck I've been building recently. I'll give the decklist from memory as I'm bored in school and not by my computer.

Pokémon (14)
4 Scizor EX
3 Mega Scizor EX
2 Trubbish
2 Garbodor
1 Hoopa EX
1 Shaymin EX
1 Cobalion

Trainers (36)
4 Professor Sycamore
2 N
1 Lysander
1 Team Flare Grunt
4 Ultra Ball
4 VS Seeker
4 Trainer's Mail
4 Scizor Spirit Links
3 Parallel City
2 Mega Turbo
1 Super Rod
2 Float Stone
4 Crushing Hammer

Energy (10)
2 Shield Energy
8 Metal Energy

I'm looking for some advice in consistency. I find myself not being able to get things fast enough, i.e. Mega Scizor and a Spirit Link and 2 Energy, so I'm looking on how to improve speed in this deck. I'm not sure why but when I Sycamore/Shaymin, I never draw things I need and find myself discarding my super rod and vs seekers early in the match. This could be RNG but if there isn't any way to improve comisistency I'd Ben happy to hear it.

I've also considered subbing Garb for Hex Maniacs and other supporters in favor of bench space. I've also considered subbing out the crushing hammers for (?) because this deck isn't not as disruptive for me as I thought it would be, probably due to not being able to set up Mega Scizor fast enough. I also only have one Shaymin so don't recommend that please.

Also, final side note, how does this deal with the meta these days? I'm about 50/50 in a few matches but the losses are to volcanion or typhlosion decks.

Thanks :)

Welcome to PokeBeach my friend!

This is just my personal preferences/thoughts, so take them with a grain of salt. I would suggest:

Take away:
-4 Crushing Hammer
-1 Ultra Ball
-1 Professor Sycamore

Add:
+2 Mega Turbo
+4 Max Elixir

If you want consistency, add 2 more Mega Turbo and 4 Max Elixir. It will help you to get energy into play a lot faster. You really only need 3 Ultra Ball due to Hoopa, and are the Hamners all that necessary? You already have decent draw support, so I feel you could afford to lose a Sycamore. If you feel you need the Sycamore, just drop one Max Elixir.

This is something else I would do, and I am pretty sure I will get a lot of crap for this:
-1 Shaymin EX
+1 Magearna EX

Do you REALLY need the Shaymin? This might just be me thinking here, but I have seen that having only one Shaymin doesn't help as much as one would like, but do whatever you see fitting.

Have you thought about adding in Skyla? She can help grab whatever crucial piece you are missing, Mega Turbo for the acceleration, Spirit Link for going Mega, the Ultra Ball for the last Pokémon you're missing. Not something you would add four of, but definitely worth at least 1 of in this type of deck. Yes you only get one card, but sometimes it's better to grab the 1 card you need instead of discarding 5 other cards you will need next turn. (Though sometimes discarding resources can't be helped) I'd definitely consider dropping a hammer for her.

Also, more Mega Turbo can help with consistency and with Skyla you have an easy way to pull them just when you need them.

I'm not sure that you need 3 Parallel City. One of the good things about M Scizor is it has a built in way to discard Stadiums so you have no need to run your own, unless you have them for a specific purpose. (Which disrupting their bench or discarding your Shay/Hoopa might be one) Not sure it's worth a three of though.

Last recommendation for now it possibly Max Elixir. I'm not sure if I like it in this deck, but it can help with acceleration before going mega. Might be worth testing, but more Mega Turbo is probably better.

Final side note, it's going to struggle against Fire. Also, it seems like special energy has fallen out of favor which weakens this deck, but if special energy comes back then this deck would be good again. About 50/50 sounds right, but some of the consistency additions might help out.

I appreciate the feedback, mega turbos will definitely help I bet, definitely considering adding skyla and maybe 2 max elixir, I'll test it out. I'm running 3 Parallel city mainly to try and counter sky field, reducing from 8-3 bench space is a huge hit for some decks and I can still discard a special energy, but not sure three is necessary especially with a skyla. It also gives me a chance of not getting oneshotted by volcanion but that's pretty much a lost cause anyway.

It does seem that special energy is definitely not as common anymore. I was looking at an older standard meta list and decided Scizor would be best for my budget given the special heavy metagame, but I feel like that's changing too.

Seems pretty good to me. I'd venture its more rng than anything. I'd keep Shaymin tho if consistency and setting up is your concern. Starting with no supporters and just an ultra ball happens and being able to set up in that situation saves the match. You have 4 sycamore, 4 ultra ball, 4 trainers Mail, and 4 spirit links so you should be ok setting up.... not much more you can do there. Here's another recommendation to test with:

-1 Garbodor
-1 parallel city
-2 crushing hammers

+2 enhanced hammers
+2 mega turbo

I've found running a 2-1 trub/Garb line helps when I want more consistency. Will Garb be prized when you need it.....it happens yes but not often. 2 more Mega turbos should be a big help. The Meta today is bigger on special energy with rainbow energy and DCE's needed for a lot of the newer lists so I go 2 enhanced Hammers for a sure thing and only have to flip twice now with the other 2 crushing hammers. If you still aren't thrilled with your set up and find your discarding things to much try a -1 trainers Mail and +1 N.

This is my build when i play and its had a good win ratio - i use it when i have metal challenges on PTCGO or when everyone where i play IRL decides to play special energies
