Metagross EX / M Metagross-EX in 'Mega Metagross-EX Premium Collection' [11/12]

Yeah, they don't seem that great. Funny how Squared Attack is the same as Quad Smash that Undaunted Metagross had. At least the art is pretty cool as far as 3D art goes, I just find it strange why they used the shiny version instead of regular.

I see what they did there. Squared Attack is the same attack of the first Metagross card ever (from Ex Hidden Legends). It appeared on regular Metagross instead of Metagross-ex from the same set though.

It is $49.99. Some Targets released it early and someone posted on reddit that they found it while looking for the Tin boxes.

DANG that's expensive. I wanted the Metagross and M-Metagross, but with that many boosters and at that price... I don't play the TCG enough for it to be worth buying, especially since there doesn't seem to be an unlock code for TCGO.

Well that's an unfortunate playmat design.

If we get a Groudon or Kyogre playmat it better be the one Japan's getting because this is just ugly and a huge waste out of all the options they could have gone with.

Hmm, all things considered I'm thinking I'm better off trying to grab 2 Metagross EX and 2 M. Metagross EX off of ebay for my binders instead of buying this directly. Just don't really need a playmat and eight booster packs, though at least the latter would be fun to open. Then of course I'm left with cards I probably have no use for, so...

Have to wait and see.

The playmat could have been done a lot worse (like how they do the Elite Trainer box's and their sleeves, just a line image of the Pokemon).

I've been to a couple of different Walmarts, 1 Target, and a skeevy Toys R Us looking for this awesome box. I've had no luck at all. I gotta get that jumbo mega Metagross to add to my jumbo collection. As for the playmat, it will probably just go on my desk as a leaning pad, assuming it's made out of the fabric and rubber like the other pokemon playmats. I doubt I'd ever put the Metagross cards to use, though. They're just not that good. Besides, I've already got a steel deck built, haha.

Just curious though, anyone know what the playmat is made out of? I couldn't really tell from the picture.

I'm dissappointed with the playmat design, though from the fact that it's rolled up in the box it at least appears to be made of decent mataerial. It's also cool how they put spaces on it for your active Pokemon, bench, prizes, etc., since many official playmats for Pokemom and even for other games lack that. That should be helpful for new players, since they won't need to overlay the paper playmat from theme decks if they rely on it.

I found one towards the back at my local Target. It was kind of across the aisle from the card section, which is already secondary to their main card section up front. They only had three. I decided not to buy it yet though because somebody said it will be available for closer to $30 on Black Friday.

I'm becoming hesitant on this product. One of the kids at my Library group got one of these, and it only contained 1 Holo (Chesnaught). I know you really can't expect the Pokemon company to rig ALL of the boxes, but let me say three things...

1) A lot of Japanese Products are specifically weighed, like those Cocoon of Destruction Blisters. No excuse not to do it in the US!

2) If I was to buy a Box that had packs only from 1 specific set, I would prefer playability over rarity. If I was to buy a Box that had a mix of cards from many sets, the pulls on playability would probably be low. Because of that, a Box that has mixed packs should have at least a Holo or two. With 8 whole packs, 1 Holo doesn't justify the $50 tag. (Yes, I know you could always get lucky and pull 3 EX's, but that is very unlikely)

I defenitely won't be requesting this for Christmas anymore. Such a shame, especially since that Mega Metagross is okay.

Edit: On another note about Japan being lucky, a Japanese Booster Box is about 40 USD, and you usually are guaranteed 3 Ultra Rares, sometimes 4. With 20 packs, you are getting 100 cards total for 40 USD. American Booster Boxes, while they do come with more cards, are the only reliable source of getting Ultra Rares with no strings attached. Unfortunately, they cost 100 USD, meaning that getting one is very situational. What I would like to start seeing is American Mini-Booster Boxes. They would come with 12 Packs (1/3 of a Box), and still guarantee about 3-4 Holos and/or 2-3 Ultra Rares. I wouldn't even mind of they cost 50 USD per box, just ANYTHING excluding Promo Boxes and Tins as a method to get Ultra Rares guaranteed works for me!!

I wish Pokemon would release an 8 pack set for 29.99 with just 8 packs and nothing else. 2 from each set would be cool.

But this is too expensive especially for being over half the price of a booster box, but without a guaranteed ultra rare.

Plus it comes with a jumbo card instead of a figure.

If you want 8 packs, just buy 8 packs. No one is stopping you. Also the reason why the price is bumped up to around half a box is the playmat. Remember, 8 packs, 2 EXs, 1 jumbo, 1 coin and 1 playmat.

If i had 50$ right now id buy it.

What kind of playmat is this? Paper or that foam stuff?

i think/hope its the foam material..im going to order 2 of these tommorow on ebay and will tell you when it arrives, unless somebody else did already^^

I can't seem to find this anywhere. Either the vendors are behind here with this stuff or they're hoarding it until Black Friday. I have to say if the reason is the latter than it really pisses me off.

Ebay doesn't seem to be too much better. From what I've seen for what people want for the just the cards I should get the whole thing, if I can find it.
