Metal Deck

Hello, my name is Santiago, I am from Argentina. I actually play Lackey but some years ago I played the real TCG with base set - neo cards. The HGSS and, especially, the BW sets remember me much of those old cards. I created some decks that I'm testing in Lackey and I want to share here:

Pokemon (17)

3 Onix
3 Steelix Prime
4 Cobalion
2-1-2 Klingklang
1 Pichu
1 Cleffa

Trainer (29)

3 Pokemon Collector
3 Pokemon Comunicator
3 Prof Juniper
2 Prof Oak's new theory
1 Twins
2 Rare Candy
4 Switch
3 Max Potion
3 Junk Arm
2 Super Rod
3 Rocky Helmet

Energy ( 14)

4 Metal Energy (Special)
6 Metal Energy
4 Double Coloress Energy

Fire destroys it... but is inmune to Crobat x4 poison. Steelix can recover Double Coloress from the discard and Cobalion can hit hard and endure the first turns. Heal with Klinklang and Max Potion, and 4 switches to contrarrest Catchers.

Hope you can help and improve it!! Thanks!!

I think that running Juniper, PONT and Cleffa might be a bit much as far as hand refreshing goes. Maybe drop either Juniper or PONT and replace with a few copies of Cheren? You could also use one of the new spots to bring your Pokemon Communication up to 4.

I see you're only running with 2 Klings, and two rare candies, do you think it'd be a good idea to lower the counts on either the Steelix line, or the Pichu to strengthen the Klingklang line?

Last question, which versions of Cobalion and Klingklang are you using? If its the Shift Gears version, I can see the emphasis on Steelix.

Hope that was at least a bit helpful.

Thank you!! Good help, i changed the PONT and added Cheren, and strength the Klingklang line. The Cobalion is from Noble Victories and the Klingklang is from BW (ability). I think the key is attach the 4 metal energy and move to the active pokemon for defense. Switches and Max Potions allow to have an active pokemon full of heal.

Sorry for my english if it's bad-redacted!!

Unfortunately, I see a huge weakness to Reshiram in this deck, due to all of you main attackers being weak to it. You're going to have to remove some things for a Fire counter that can keep itself going, so I see a few changes that may be necessary for you to use.

First off, the only combo I see here is between Steelix Prime and Klinklang. Cobalion doesn't really mesh into the deck as well as you might think it does, because the main focus here is to tank with Steelix and heal it off with Max Potion, and with some good support, it can be quite easy to pull off. I'm going to suggest that you remove the Cobalion; as much as it can help with Iron Breaker, it is just too easy to play around, and will end up costing you 3+ Metal energy, depending on how you use it. I don't see much of a use for Pichu and Cleffa either, since as long as you bump up your Pokemon Collector and PONT count, you should be fine without them.

The card I think you should use to counter Fire types like Reshiram to give this deck a fighting chance is Samurott BW(yes I know it's the promo, but the regular and promo are the same besides the artwork and set #), and it helps for a variety of reasons. First off, Samurott counters Reshiram and other Fire types due to its Water typing, and its Ability lets it survive a Blue Flare (which puts you at a 2:1 prize rate). Plus, it functions off of Colorless energy, so you can still use Metal energy (and not have to tech in extra energy). So, concerning Pokemon, I think this could be justified:

- 4 Cobalion NV
- 1 Pichu HGSS
- 1 Cleffa HGSS/CoL

+ 2 - 2 - 2 Samurott BW

This way, you can keep yourself in the game against matchups like Reshiram, where Steelix handles almost everything else it could encounter.

Now that you have your Pokemon figured out, and now that we can focus on the Klinklang and Max Potion strategy, we can take out 2 of your Switch, since you obviously don't need it when you can continue to heal off your Active Pokemon with Max Potion. I don't know if Twins is really necessary for this deck, since this deck can continue taking prizes with Steelix/Samurott once they are set up. You may want to add an extra Communication and Collector, so everything is easy to get out when you need it, and another Rare Candy is needed because of the addition of Samurott. Also, you really don't need 3 Rocky Helmet, due to its dead weight later in the game. Other than that, I think you did a really nice job figuring out the T/S/S for this deck, so props to you. For the changes I mentioned, here's what might benefit you:

- 2 Switch
- 1 Twins
- 1 Rocky Helmet

+ 1 Max Potion (necessary to keep all of your Steelix alive as long as you can)
+ 1 Pokemon Collector
+ 1 Pokemon Communication
+ 1 Rare Candy

For the energy, you may want to remove two Basic Metal, since you already run a 4/4 split of Special energy, and if you want, you could tech a 1-1 Blissey Prime for some more healing, but it is just an option for you.

I see that you picked up on the idea of using Energy Stream to its fullest with Juniper and Junk Arm, so good job on that! I think a few more hand refresh cards might be needed here, but I honestly don't see anything I could remove for it. Hope this helps you in the future, and by the way, your English is not bad.
