Pokemon mew and RK9, rivals?

it's a legendary dragon, it was the only dragon in the 1st gen, and yeah, it's legendary *see bill episode*

YES HE IS, there are more then 1 mew, mol3, artic1, zap2, lugia, regis, ... and those are all legendary.
legendary doesn't mean 1-in-a-kind

no, it was planned to be a legendary (that is if we have to believe WPM, cause I don't have a r/s hex list)

Take a look at this japanese poster that was released before ruby and sapphire:

Chimecho is at the end of the list with all the legendaires, which explains a lot. It was probably just a quick change before the release of the games that it was made non-legendary... there are other Pokemon whose numbers are out of line as well... see the Gardevoit evolution line.

artic1, zap2 and mol3 (short for artic"uno",zap"dos" and mol"tres")

Hey, a new reason why to be against german Pokemon translations... They changed the name ends to only -dos (Zapdos, Lavados) or -tos (Arktos) ... They translate out every meaning :(

I thougt about Chime to be something like a legendary some time ago, because its place in Pokedex isn't normal.

Mew and Arcanie... I never new that either.

Cute-Mew is right. It does not have to be one of a kind to be legendary. It was meant to be aswell as Chimeco. They are very rare and Arcanine looks like the legendary dogs. In the hexadecimal list for R/B/Y Arcanine is next to Mew. (Just to add random information Rhydon is the first pokemon programed into the game, not pikachu.)

yeah, pika is even after mew, which is really funny, too bad pika became the main pokémon, he's fun, but not soo great.

Ack, I can't believe u guys consider RK9 as a legendary!! If it was to be real, there wouldn't be 2 Zap2!! Consider that!!

the original idea was him being a legendary
BTW, looks at your pokédex (if you have RK9), you'll see that it says legendary pokémon.

I knew it! Arcanine is a legendary, the Pokedex should never lie!!!!!  watch out for the new legendary in town boys, (and gals) watch out! Go Arcanine!

Arcanine out.

If it is a Legendary, then Growlither wouldn't be so common. Larvitar and Pupitare are very, very rare so that makes Tyranitar among Legendaries. Also the fact that it has stats that are equal to or greater than most Legendaries. The only reason Arcanine is said to be a Legendary is because it isn't seen a lot. This is only my opinion.

It WAS going to be a legendary... not IS. C-M's theory is that Growlithe was made up at the last second, as it's name isn't similar to RK9's (an oddity in the 1st Gen.) and looks veeeeeery similar. Of course, this would also mean that Primeape and Rapidash are legendaries..

primeape? rapidash?  nah

and do any of you notice in the first game that the legendary's had numbers at the end of their names, except for mew?

Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, and now Arcanine.

that's proof enough.

Arcanine out.

;/ This is pretty dumb, if your arugument is numbers, then what about dugtrio or diotrio? If its cat V. dog, then what about meowth and persain? What about mouse V. cat, does that mean mew and pikachu are rivals too??? ;/

This is what all the pokedex enteries has to say about RK9 & Mew (I'll be useing the sprites from Crystal!) B_F edit: No, you won't. More unnecessary images? No thanks. AND you're hotlinking anyway. Way to go for manners.
RK9:
Blue/Red & LG: A Pokémon that has been admired since the past for its beauty. It runs agiley, as if on wings.
Yellow: A legendary Pokémon in China. Many people are charmed by its grace and beauty while running.
FR: A Pokémon that is described in Chinese legends. It is said to race at an unbelievable speed.
Gold: This legendary Chinese Pokémon is considered magnificent. Many people are enchanted by its grand mane.
Silver: Its magnificent bark conveys a sense of majesty. Anyone hearing it but cant grovel before it.
Crystal: An ancient picture scroll shows that people were attracted to its movement as it ran through prairies.
Ruby/Sapphire: Arcanine is known for its high speed. It is said to be capable of running over 6,200 miles in a single day and night. The fire that blazes wildly within this Pokémon's body is its source of power.
Emerald: This fleet-footed Pokémon is said to run over 6,200 miles in a single day and night. The fire that blazes wildly within its body is its source of power.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mew:
Red/Blue & LG: So rare that it is still said to be a mirage by many experts. Only a few people have seen it worldwide.
Yellow: When viewed through a microscope, this Pokémon's short, fine, delicate hair can be seen.
FR: A Pokémon of South America that was though to have been extinct. It is very intelligent and learns any move.
Gold: Apparently, it appears only to those people who are pure of heart and have a strong desire to see it.
Silver: Its DNA is said to contain the genetic codes of all Pokémon, so it can use all kinds of techniques.
Crystal: Because it can learn any move, some people began research to see if it is the ancestor of all Pokémon.
Ruby/Sapphire: Mew is said to possess the genetic composition of all Pokémon. It is capable of making itself invisible at will, so it entirely avoids notice even if it approaches people.
Emerald: A Mew is said to possess the genes of all Pokémon. It is capable of making itself invisible at will, so it entirely avoids notice even if it approaches people.

You see I don't see anything to do with RK9 & Mew being rivals!
Just Mewtwo (which I've met the VA of) & Mew!

^ That doesn't prove anything, only hex numbers can say when a pokémon was put on the game, big change that they changed the description.
anyway, the hex numbers: if mew2 would be mew's original counterpart, why is his 83, and mew's 14, and why would RK9 be 15
but even that doesn't prove much, the only thing that I said was, that when the creators created mew, they wanted to give it some counterpart, creating RK9, but change that later on, leaving only a few hint. I know that they are in no way connected whatsoever right now

i hope it's not been 2 weeks away. *edit* i posted something stupid here, and i took it out. go ahead and give me a warning if this isn't okay, since it seriously offended someone:(

Arcanine out.

It's ok, I'm really glad you changed it though ^_^

We all do stupid stuff sometimes, and as I said, I wasn't in such a good mood when I saw that lol...

You're still a good guy :)

Thanks again...

Peace...
