Card of the Day: Mewtwo EX
98-mewtwo-ex.jpg

Easily one of the best cards in the format. Mewtwo can fit into almost any deck that uses DCE or even if they don't, you can still set up with regular energies. The best part is that it also does damage times the energy on the defending Pokemon, not just on Mewtwo. It's attack quickly charges up because your opponent will be adding energies as well. His 2nd attack isn't as good and usually will be weaker than X-Ball anyways.

Almost always weaker but it has its perks, psydrive decimates low energy attackers like empoleon and zorark. and with two energies on mewtwo and 3 on darkrai spydrive actually does more, and discards an energy so mewtwo is less open to a mewtwo counter.

One of the best EXs printed (if not the best). It can be splashed into any deck, can score a first turn donk with DCE, can be a late game finisher, benefits from all energy acceleration, and makes opponents think twice before attaching. In a nutshell, Mewtwo EX repressents everything that we love (and hate) about EXs.

10/10 all around.

Definitely started the dominance of EXs, definitely one of the best printed. Can be thrown into anything. I would say Cress EX outclasses it in Darkrai/Hydreigon, but in any other deck, I don't see a reason not to run it. Mostly because if you don't, you risk getting swept by one.

9.5/10

Artwork: Regular: 9/10. Full Art: 6/10. Full Arts are still lame

One of the best attackers the game has ever seen. With the ability to be powered up by a single DCE, it does crazy amounts of damage to really anything in the game. It's got an unlimited damage output, amazing speed, and can completely burn through fields if your opponent doesn't have a counter to it. The only reason it isn't broken is it gets countered by itself, meaning literally ever deck that doesn't have another fast response to it (which is pretty much nothing except Rayeels) needs to run it.

10/10, Cards don't get much better than this.

Actually the most you can do is 15,520 damage when its like this:
Deck 1:
1 Mewtwo
1-1-1 gardy
56 energy

deck 2:
1 Mewtwo
1-1-1 Gardy
1-1-1 Vileplume
53 energy
assuming all prizes are energy. Not at all unlimited :p

Anyways, I liek the card, but what its done to the format is just wrong. I watched a T2 at cities the other day (emmet vs. iis) and all 3 games were Mewtwo wars. iis used Darkrai ONCE out of the 3 games, Mewtwo just dominated all the games. But I can't say I didn't play it, as it is such a powerful card and is truly one of the best EXs.
So damn splashable

You're wrong with the lists. If the list with Vileplume has 1 sableye, 1 revive, and 1 rare candy in it instead of 3 of the energy then the other deck is able to take 5 prizes off it, and 5 energy>3. Also, if you're doing it in unlimited, you can add Poke Flute to the list with Sableye so that both sides can take the 5 prizes.

Absolutely the worst card in the metagame. No card can be worse than this now a days: -10/10 for playability

Going serious the best Pokémon in the metagame (I consider it better than Darkrai, Landorus and all the other EX's). It has devastated the metagame since it came out on ND. It is extremely splashable and you generally will see them with 3 energies. It is a great counter to itself. Or you counter it or you use.

Playability 10/10
Art Normal 9/10
FA Art 7/10

Mewtwo only really has trouble fighting something like Empoleon that uses 1 energy. Mewtwo does 60 a turn but if there is at least 9 pokemon it'll 2hko. Empoleon can also use Max Potion since it only loses 1 energy.

What are you talking about? Sableye needs dark to operate and I said the most damage done.

Exactly. If you replace one of the psychic energies with dark, add sableye + revive, and use 1 candy over stage 2s, the other side can take 5 of its prized energy, allowing it to deal more damage.

....ooook. Didn't think of that.

Point is, Mewtwo has a very high, but still limited damage output.
