Monster Binders

I generally don't like fanboyism but they do seem like tough binders, and their bindings mean no issues with rings. Anyone else have input? ILm currently using ring binders and could go for an upgrade.

I absolutely love my monster binder. It's so useful and I can put sleeved cards in it to keep them more minty and fresh. The ring binders i keep for commons and what not. My monster binder is for highly wanted rares and holos

I <3 my monster binder! It keeps all my cards safe, I don't have to worry about tilting it upside down and everything falling out, and it just looks very professional.

i actually dont prefer monster binders.
they are flimsy and i dont like the hard cover. not to mention quite pricey

i would suggest looking into ultra pro Premium Pro-binders.
they're ultra pro's version of the monster binder but better in my opinion
-Expandable spine so cards dont get bent when you fill up all the pages
-side insert sleeves. just like the monster binder. good theft protection. can also hold sleeved cards
-the whole binder is black. pages, covers, etc. gives a really nice framed look for your cards
-leather bound. padded covers. better protection and has more professional look
-elastic strap on the cover, so your binder doesnt open when your carrying it. one of the biggest problems with monster binders
- also around half the cost

I second Ogeray's post

I use the Ultra-Pro binder that he stated, and it is amazing. Much better than a Monster IMO.

As a collector, I prefer 1/2" business binders. Each binder holds a set just right. And if you get a binder with a sleeve on the front, you can insert your own label or picture. I have lots of binders, so buying them at less than $3 each helps keep cost down. The most important factor in deciding what binder to use is the intended use.

Believe it or not, the all black thing isn't a selling point for me. Yellow's my favorite color, so my Monster Binder gets to be yellow :p

And of course, I would only use monster binders for trades. I keep all my Lv X's, Primes, Legends and other good cards in the monster binder, everything else gets its own binder. I'm not a collector anymore, but if I was I would probably keep them like omahanime does

Color can help organize your binders. I am able to buy my binders in blue, black, and white. I use blue for English, black for Japanese, and white for other.

I like the idea of the ultra pro. Might snag one and do a cover repaint.

Do you have good luck with paint sticking to the plastic covers?

I wouldn't do that. The fumes might ruin the cards.
Hell, I stored my cards in PVC free binder and plastic sleeves and some of them still got ruined, namely the reverse holos. I don't know what's up with those, but those are the only ones that degraded over 10 years in storage.

A low VOC paint could be safe. Were your sleeves acid-free?

you cant repaint the ultra pro premium binders

its not a hard plastic cover. its a padded leather cover

I have one of the small Monster Binders in silver. It's very nice and keeps all my super rares and techs in one safe place. It's about $10, and in my opinion that's very cheap for the amount of cards it holds and the quality of the binder. I prefer it over any other binder.

I've had the same problem when looking for a binder. After some time researching and comparing the more expensive binders, I finally settled on the Ultra Pro. The main con against Monster, is because of the compact way it was made, especially along the spine. If you wanted to fully utilize the Monster binder, the spine of the binder would cause a bend on the cards on the inside of the binder near the spine.

With the Ultra Pro Premium, the space between the spine and the actual sheets give it enough room to bend and expand even with a full load. This was the main selling point for me and I hope this helps.

It's a little more expensive here, but it's the only site I've found with it in stock ; http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-PRO-BINDER-Leatherette-Sideloading/dp/B004FVJDV2

troll and toad has it for $16.99
sadly its sold out.
i would also check with your comic and game shops.
retail should only be around $17-22
