More things for GFXers?

Raikou glad to see you're on board with this mate ;)
Always good to see a super mod go for something that I suggested aha.

Well tutorials-wise I can/have made a few tuts and will make more if this idea gets passed. I'm sure there's a GIMP master in here somewhere aha.
But yes tutorials, gfx mods (hopefully :p), maybe even a competitions section where we can host SOTWs (Signatures of the weeks), LAOTM (Large Art of the Months), KOTH (King of the Hill.) I can explain these if you want but obviously the later two are probably better when we get a few more people into GFX

We had something similar to SotW (it was Artwork of the Week), and really it died out after the first four rounds. We had less than 10 people competing, and each time there were less people. If we are going to even return to doing SotW, then we should wait until we have more people.

But they shouldn't be called Graphic Moderators at all! You see, most of the people making art aren't really up tothe job of moderating. I don't think you'd need a team, as this is a massive community rather than a monarchy/dictatorship.

Subforums? Yes. Extra user group? Never. Some idiots could end up with the ability to moderate and that would be AWFUL.

Who exactly? Me for one could be a good mod, and I know a few others that could be a good mod. Graphic Mods are a really good idea because....

1. The regular mods wouldn't need to mod it! :D(although I think Xous would want to still mod it)
2. The graphic mods could answer questions in a flash, while regular mods would probably have to Google it or something.

Will edit with some more when I think of them, but come on people, who doesn't agree with these.

We already have "graphics mods", in theory. Xous, CMP, and I are all graphic artists (Others as well), and would be able to answer questions with little or no additional research. I see no legitimate reason why a special group is needed.

As for art of the week, I'd be glad to start it back, if I can get people to commit to it. What often happens is that many will join, but only a few will actually submit. Really, we want new activities, we have to show there's a demand for them. The more activity and content we get, the more we can do to support that.

Not everyone in the usergroup will be a gfx mod. My idea was the GFX Mod group (Maximum 4) and the rest will be normal GFX members. The GFX mods can run the competitions and can be easily contacted for advice, explanations for terms, tips. And I have been GFX Leader/Mod of many communities and I have performed well and no one complained.

See with these Mods people have something to work for and they won't be chosen at random. I think it's fair to have 2 veteran members from this site who deserve it for just general leadership such as the competitions and 2 of our most skilled artists who can give great advice and can lead by example.

IDK that's how I'd do it but it is up to our leaders.

This thread is for making suggestions for improving the art community. A subforum and new team/group is not happening anytime soon, as explained in my previous posts. Let's get back onto productive suggestions, or this will be locked.

I kinda just think that people were using this to throw their name in the ballot for a new user group <_<

But as someone who seriously wants to see an Art Community thrive out of this. As far as a group goes I think just an official user bar (Like one for a signature) is more than enough to symbolize expertise rather than a whole new group with powers and such. I was working on a new tutorial and resource thread, but I had went to branch it out to other aspects of art and never finished. I suppose I can wrap it up and post it soon. Competitions wouldn't be a particularly bad idea if they're opened up to a broader spectrum somehow (Some forums make them official announcements by the Admin to bring a spotlight). I also planned on making a new GFX Group as a result of Roa's inactivity.

That's pretty much all I have on my mind at the moment.
