Most influential Set

Aside from SPs which everyone knows changed the face of this format since it's appearance, what in your opinions would you say is the most influential set in the format and how it'll affect future meta?

Rising Rivals - brought us Luxray GL LV.X which pretty much determined the entire meta.

Second would be Stormfront - Machamp SF, Gengar SF & Gyarados SF (not to mention a few others) were, and still are, popular decks.

Well, if you can't count Platinum, then I'd say Storm Front. It brought us those that Hikikomori-san said, and it also brought Dusknoir, which used to be really good, and Sableye, which is good now, but about to get REALLY good.

If I did have to say so, I would say SF as well for the same reasons.

It seems like that's were things started to get amazingly technical as far as this format goes.

^and good trainers

But Stormfront is about to be rotated out, so I would say UD or TR.
UD
-Vileplume
-Scizor
-Umbreon
-Espeon

TR
-All the primes, besides Celebi.
-Good T/S/S

I forgot about HGSS with Donphan and Collector, but that is it.

To be honest I think one card that broke the format was Double Colorless Energy. Where would Luxchomp be without it? I know it would probably still be played, but SP in general would be nowhere near as good as they are now without it. A lot of stage two decks also have befitted a lot from DCE.
Other great sets include: Legends Awakened, (The Pixies) Stormfront, (Gengar, Gyarados, Machamp, etc...) Platnium, (SP engine+Broken Time-Space).

Other than PL, most definitely SF - Gyarados, Machamp, Gengar, and Sableye.

HGSS is pretty big too. bringing jumpluff, ninetails, PONT, communication, feraligatr, typhlosion, collector, blah blah blah
