I'm a metalhead. Here are some of the bands I listen to frequently:

Fleshgod Apocalypse
Carach Angren
Dying Fetus
Scar Symmetry
Opeth
Solution .45
Miseration
Swallow the Sun
Candlemass
Dark Lunacy
Hour of Penance
Bloodbath
Ahab
Insomnium
Ihsahn
Emperor
The Monolith Deathcult
Daylight Dies
Chthonic
Nile
Neuraxis
Omnium Gatherum
Septicflesh
All Shall Perish
Sleep Terror
Tvangeste
and so many more...

But, I do enjoy classical, jazz, and some rock here and there. However, first and foremost, I am a metalhead. :)

freak-folk, alternative, jazz (BEBOP FTW!),electronica, and country.

mainly animal collective/panda bear/ atlas sound, the knife/fever ray, sigur ros, gnarles barkley, fat lip, miles davis, yoko kanno, dinah washington, radiohead, and johnny cash.

@epi: magnets, how do they work?
@gale: Crystal castles is pretty cool. they get a little boring IMO though, all they do is the same stuff and its all in 4-4

Well, if we're going to list ALL of our favorite bands...

I hate 90% of the mainstream artists. I can't stand Lady GaGa, both her personality and music. This is my personal opinion, but I think Muse is kind of overrated, and Linkin Park just doesn't appeal to me. It's not that I necessarily hate the music (except for Lady GaGa, I really do), it's more my hatred of the fans. I refuse to participate in a cult of followers for someone whose music I don't particularly think is good, or who doesn't spark my interests. Anyway, this is pretty much all I listen to anymore. I'll find a random trance/techno band here and there, but I don't really stick to them for long.

Remixes. 16/8-bit.
Alex M.
Alphazone
Armin van Buuren
Chase and Status
Crystal Castles
deadmau5
Foo Fighters
Infected Mushroom
Justice
Legend
Little Boots (just started listening, I strongly recommend her)
Lost Prophets
Oasis
Paramore
Pendulum
Portugal the Man
Radiohead (I don't really like them as much as I used to)
Signum
The All-American Rejects
The New Puritans
The Ting Tings
The Offspring
Uffie

The more I look at this list, the more I see myself smoking weed in a few years.

I like you taste, and your opinion about Lady Gaga. Personally, I think exactly the same. Her music is just...not my style

Music is my life.... literally... I'm a music composition major. :p

Anyway, I'm surprised that no one here listens to One Republic. As for the rest of popular music, I won't deny that there's some really good stuff out there. However, it is VERY few and far between. The world has such a horrible twisted image of what "good" music is it makes me want to vomit. I seriously think that people are just musically stupid or something to say that half of these so called "artists" are musical geniuses or something.

Now for my preferences:

Rock: I don't mind well written rock songs, in fact, I like them. However the screamo or what ever the heck it is, is just stupid. Seriously people, that's not music anymore than a lawnmower running over a cat is a hit song.

Classical: So much good stuff here. :)

Movie soundtracks: IMO, the modern classical. Many of my all time favorite songs in here.

I know many ppl are goin to be like "wtf?!" and "ur gay" and hate on her but i actually really like Lady GaGa's music. In my opinio she is a every good artist and her music is awesome. she is such a great person and loves her fans. if you go on youtube and search fans meeting lady gaga u see how amazing she is. most people would be lik "oh im running late" but she actually spends time with them and talks to them. but then again that's just my opinion.

One Republic is actually one of my most favorite bands. It's a shame they don't play that much on the radio that much. Bands escape my mind if they don't play their music at least three times a day if not 50.

dmaster out.

I don't associate liking Lady GaGa with being a homosexual. I associate liking Lady GaGa with not having good taste in music. I mean it's cool if you like her, but it's also kind of weird.

I'm sure she's nice to her fans, but she's just like every other young, female celebrity. She craves attention, and gets it by doing... weird stuff (that's an understatement).

In addition, she's probably nice to her fans because most of them are scary as hell.

Also, on the topic of One Republic, I've actually heard some of their music and it's pretty good.

I mainly listen to alternative rock, but I'll listen to rock as well. My favorite group is mainly Coldplay, but I'll listen to stuff like Paramore, Wolf Parade, Linkin Park, and R.E.M. occasionally.

Another of my favorite bands is Polarkreis18, even though I don't like all of there lyrics, as well as the leadsinger's voice, most of there music is just amazing. Dreamdancer might be their best song ever!!!! It's just, amazing
Also like Riverside, they make progressive rock. It's lovely :)

its people like you that make me hate music majors (and film majors too except with movies instead of pop music). but theres no point in arguing with someone with a pretentious view of music tastes, because it will always come down to their personal preferences.

i don't mind one republic though

Paramore, Muse, Metallica, ACDC, Kiss, and the music I create are my favorites. My current favorite song is You are the Only Exception, its sweet to listen to.

blink 182 and sum 41 are my favorite bands but if you like alternative you should definitely listen to angels and airwaves, not a lot of people know of them but theyre amazing

I like Rock and some Metal.
To be specific here is some of my favorite bands: Breaking Benjamin, Drowning Pool, Three Days Grace, Alter Bridge, Thousand Foot Krutch, Pillar, Sick Puppies and 30 Seconds to Mars,I'm sure there are some more bands that I like but I just can't think of them right now.

I like the melodious sound of people reading the rules and following them.
