My First Banner

It's pretty plain (just a gradient background) and the chosen font is boring. The Zoroark picture seems to be a little bit streched vertically. I recommend looking up some tutorials on making banners ( [link] ) and experimenting with different brushes etc. in Gimp (it's a free software).
(I'm not saying I'm a banner expert or anything, the banner in my signature is my first banner too. I'm just trying to give some advice.)

As Teal pointed out, your banner is extremely plain. From what I can see, all you did was throw Zoroark onto a gradiented background, add a border, some text, and gave the text a shadow.
With banners, you want to have more effects. A more complex background, having flow in the banner, lighting, etc. all lead up to a good banner. I'd recommend trying a bit harder if you want a better looking banner.

Yes, it looks better! But imo the font is even more horrible and the character doesn't really interact with the rest of the image in any way. The symbol feels weirdly placed as Ichigo is over half of it. You could try to put a thin layer of some color on the whole image to make it blend togehter a bit better.

Your second banner is quite an improvement from your previous one and for a first timer it isn't all that bad. I would recommend watching/reading tutorials since they will greatly benefit you. Keep trying and work with new tools to improve your style.
