My mom wants me to make her a "list" of what cards I want! Help...?

Is this hopeless, or what?!

OK, my mom, who knows almost NOTHING about Pokemon wants to know what cards are good/bad, what I have/don't have, and she wants me to write/type it out for her(I think for X-Mas!). I don't know where to start! When I tell her about the pros and cons of Theme Decks, she later forgets that they're good at all. She doesn't know how useless the Championship Decks are and I sure don't want those!
So, please, Pokebeach. How do I begin to explain everything to my mother who is completely hopeless with Pokemon?!

It really sounds like you're just complicating the problem. Why don't you just give her a list of single cards? It seems like a reasonable request. Starter decks are horrible, and between getting one of them and a good, expensive staple card, it makes no sense to get a starter deck.

My advice: just give her the list. Surely, there must be a few cards you don't have yet want?

Furthermore, you really can't explain it to your "mom". Having a mom myself, they don't really grasp strategy. They can understand how to play the game, but making actually good decks is beyond them.

That would be my immediate solution to the problem.

Edit: I meant single cards, but only hindsight is 20/20. xD Sorry for any confusion. Also, ninja'd. xD

Whoa, that's a good idea! Simple, but good. Thanks!

Sounds good, thanks!
Edit: What confusion? I didn't see what was wrong with your post.

Yh just give your mum a list of cards you need for your collection/deck. Obviously don't do too many as that may overwhelm her purse xD

"Cards I want:

Claydol - Great Encounters 15
Uxie - Legends Awakened 43
Furret - Secret Wonders 27

thanks, mom."

All she has to do then is type that into eBay lol.

Hmm, I think I made this into more of a problem then it really is... Thanks...
Btw, isn't eBay really, really bad?

Nope Ebay is the best place to get singles really. But I would advise you to be with your mum during purchase as she won't know the best price for a card without your knowledge.

She just saw your post and said "Well, good advice, but, then it wouldn't really be a surprise, would it?". But I thought it was just good advice and it wouldn't be a surprise anyway if I put it on the list.
About eBay: What about fake cards?

See you buy cards from people who have about 500 + positive feedback and only buy from people that have about 99% positive feedback. This way you almost assure safety. I don't know any other good single sites since I don't live in America but they may be some as good as ebay.

Thanks for the excellent advice again. For other singles sites, I highly recommend Professor Oak.com. They always have free shipping, except for when you want to get cards faster. And it's not too slow anyway! Although, I don't know if you can use it in England. Good luck!

Be specific, When you list a card. List language, set, full card number in the set, normal or reverse holo, condition, and price. You have to provided her with the knowledge to buy a good gift for you.

I would list out the cards you need and from which set. Organize them from the ones you'd want the most to the ones you'd want the least. I like Espeon, and I don't like...uh...Mudkipz.

"Mom, I want (from highest want to lowest want):

-Espeon 4 Rising Rivals #18/111
-Gallade 4 Rising Rivals #20/111
-Charizard Platinum: Arceus #1/99
-Mudkip Supreme Victors #116/147

Love you Mom!

Francisco."

Even though your suggestions above are organised and so on, would you expect a mother to understand them and get you the right cards especially if they have never been introduced into pokemon.

This is why I suggest you do the purchase with her as you can tell her which are fakes and what not. You teach her the differences between cards through example etc.

And Trollandtoad.com doesn't have good prices, right? :p

I have to agree with kashmaster. She may get the wrong pokemon, or from the wrong set. It's not liek she is definatly gonig to know that RR stands for Rising Rivals. I suggest sitting down and watching her, just show she doesn't mess anything up and waste money.

Yeh they probably do but the shipping makes the prices sky high thus making that website for me a complete waste of time...

Nah, they have shipping of one dollar for 99 cards or less. :D

And they can convert too, or whatever you call it.
