Fun My Only Complaint with TCG

<obviously has watched VGC for two seasons maximum with flagrant disregard of match details>

EDIT: Way to respond to all my points btw. And not just cherry pick the one you can refute with flawed data. 10/10

I will never EVER pretend to know ANYTHING about VCG. i only started pokemons competitive play ( in ANY way ) when Breakpoint came out ( i was thinking about trev break/ gengar ) and VCG until 2 months ago. So right now the format of VGC ( in my opinion ) is the same 6 hacked pokemon against each other.

The VGC is much less diverse than TCG, TCG is so awesome because every pokemon MAY have a chance some day. Even though we see MANY mewtwo and stuff only, I think this is a more diverse meta than earlier, just because it doesn't focus on 1 main deck and all its counters.

On quite the contrary i think that TCG is harder to use your favorite pokemon ( and win ). I will explain using an example of a deck i know best Trev. let's say Trev is your favorite pokemon. Luckily trev has two cards one from XY and one from Breakpoint. The one from Breakpoint is far less playable ( though a decent stall deck i've made with it ) then the one in XY therefore you will ( in expanded , what i play ) always run into XY trev rather than Breakpoint ( but all cards were bought lightly ) In VGC i'll use the example of Espeon ( one of my favorite pokemon ) i played through regularly with mine so it's stats are all over the place ( but in mainly SP.ATK ) i like the move set Psychic , future sight , retaliate and shadow ball. ( holding red card ) you will never see anyone play that in VGC.

I do agree with you. It is very hard to make every card playable. People will always play the best instead if their favorite.

Well i'm very poor so i don't get to make a new deck every year. So that's why i complain about format rotation. I just got two shaymins and then my trev deck rotates. Also the pokemon TCG is kinda hard to get into ( for me at least ) when roaring skies first came out me and my friend each bought 5 packs and i pulled a shaymin EX and he pulled a mega ray. I was very jealous of him ( because i didn't know competitive play at the time ) i put it into a deck just to see how it worked (me and my friends just used theme deck style decks ) and i was suprised at how well it did. Doing 30 damage and then retreating back to my hand was awesome. I would send out a bulky pokemon to take cover while i put it back on the bench attach an energy and troll. My first experience with any competitive pokemon players was at a place called the toy trove. When i got out my deck someone begged me for my shaymin EX i didnt want to give it up but i eventually traded it for a mega charizard Y ex ( i was colectinf flash fire at the time) wow i just went a complete rant on how i got ripped off….. Sorry. Oh and Fly on. XD[/QUOTE]

Some cards are just truly bad. But other cards have not found their place in the meta. Ever since AOR came out no one looked at the Gyrados, until someone came up with a way to play them. Same for those who have watched the Masters National Finals from last year. Wailord vs Toad. Until the community finds out how to use a card, it will seem useless. Some even take a lot of work to find their place after rotation, like Vileplume and its partners, Jolteon and Glaceon EX. Also, no one ever thought of M Audino, but it was such a good meta call. It found a way to win worlds, despite not even being considered a playable card. It's all about finding where something fits in the current meta.

Yellow swellow is great, he does all decks that have the slightest chance
For the record, none of yellowswellows decks have a fighting chance. YouTubers aim to put out content for views, likes, and subscribers and want something that appeals to their audience. That thing that happened at that one spring regionals does not mean that that deck will ever work again. He got insanely lucky.

Also for the record: a sideboard in Pokémon will help certain decks while possibly hurting others as Pokémon needs consistency to keep the game going whereas games like Yu-Gi-Oh do not need an insane amount of draw power to "set up" as they don't need energies and everything in the game works in multiple ways (I.e. Graveyard summons, special summons, predicting trap cards, chains).
