My pets are cooler than yours...

Yeah I had the same once, left the cage open... But mine's a House Gecko so he can climb walls, he escaped and when I noticed he was gone I starterd searching. And eventually I found him upside down hanging under my bureau =P

Yeah pretty handy mine can't climb, but in a way there's no junk on my walls and I could reach him with a chair, my bunk bed etc. It was just so relieving and cute to see him poke his little head out from a little cave of junk. :)

We have 4 dogs (had 5, but my oldest just passed on Monday), and two aquariums in the house. The first one is a 55 gallon with a variety of freshwater, and my 20 gallon tank just has 1 koi in it.

Cool pets. I'm guessing you're a dog person, and sorry to hear your dog passed away...:(

Isn't a 20 just a bit small for a koi?

My leopard gecko has more than enough space, he's just a single animal less than a foot long in a 30 gallon tank(terrarium, not aquarium of course) lol.

I also have a cat. And @ typhlosion, how did your gecko die? Was it impaction? I hope not, that's a cruel way for a gecko to die and that's why I recently switched to carpet rather than sand. And I never feed him anything too big for him like a superworm.

No he died because my sister took im to school and her teacher picked him up and he jumped so she dropped and he went bye bye.

:( That's really sad...What kind of gecko though? I mean my leopard gecko has jumped out of my hands and fallen up to 3 feet or so before and he doesn't seem to be injured. Definitely alive... I think. O_O

He's not a full size Koi. He's about 4 inches long. I might do the pond thing when I get an actual home, but I've always loved Koi. The last one I had lived for almost 3 years, and he was in a tank that was 10 gallons (he was my college dorm pet).

My leopard gecko eats and sits under his log too...HOWEVER, he happens to eat live bugs, which is awesomer than whatever your turtle eats, even if your turtle eats bugs too, cuz my gecko's just that cool.

3 years isn't that long for a koi, there have been records of kois living more than 200 years.

Sorry, but that's impossible. Even a koi isn't going to live that long. Not much does.

Unless it's a scientific record, it's worthless.

Uhm... look at this then:
''Koi can live for centuries. One famous scarlet koi, named "Hanako" (c. 1751 – July 7, 1977) was owned by several individuals, the last of whom was Dr. Komei Koshihara. Hanako was reportedly 226 years old upon her death. Her age was determined by removing one of her scales and examining it extensively in 1966. She is (to date) the longest-lived koi fish ever recorded.''
Is this evidence enough? :/

He actually died when I was moving home from college for the summer. I was hoping that he'd survive for 3 hours in a smaller container while being transferred home, but he didn't. Kinda bummed me out because I was really liking him.

Mine eats that for breakfast.

Mine also eats...YOU

Lol no, he is very lazy. I mean when I bought him, I thought we could walk, and go swimming, and do lots of fast paced physical activities together, but boy I could have never been more right!
