Today via a hack, a new item was discovered. It is currently not known what the item does or what it's purpose is. What do you all think it could be? It looks like an old book or artifact to me!

Do you mean advertising? Wouldn't it be okay since it's very related to the topic?
@Kaiser you're right, there is a port in Kalos but the edges also resemble a stamp.

I think it's a vessel of some sort pictured on what could possibly be the ticket to travel on said ship. There's all kinds of talk from NPCs about some other land. One in particular says, "The Kalos region is nice and all, but you've really got to check out my region! It's not Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, or even Unova!" There's also another character (or it might be the same one) who says that we will find out soon enough about some other region.

Maybe..It`s something for the Race Track? That the "piece" need to put on a door, and It opend and then: Diancie/Hoopa/Volcanion is there?

Do they still leave unused assets in games nowadays? More than likely a sprite for something that got reworked or scrapped. It doesn't look particularly interesting although that would play in the favour of the image being fake. Could be an old Mysterious Artifact sprite I suppose. Heck, to me it looks like a wooden micro chip.

I'm sorry but that looks like it came from a generation 3 game. Without evidence or a source this seems like it was made with paint.net a couple days ago.

It's amazing, but out of 10+ replies we have 10+ opinions... As professorlight would say, that's very interesting.
Personally, I agree with Delta. I doubt that the old practice of filling a game with unused scraps has been dropped, and it's quite likely that this is something of the kind. Perhaps the original idea for Strange Souvenir? Maybe even a fake, though I wouldn't be so quick to suggest it. It could perfectly well be real, but otherwise useless.
And Reggie, the reason for it looking like a Gen III sprite is most probably due to bad resizing.

The internal silhouete reminds me of Castlevania with Dracula's room only connected by stairs and without anything below to support it. On the other hand it might be some sort of witch hat or Vivi's head from Final Fantasy IX but with a tird eye. The overall shape looks like a bloc that fits somewhere. One more contribution to the opinion's cauldron.
