Those tiles look great, Aki! The Zapdos was easy to visualize, with Articuno a little harder, but I'm still having trouble seeing Moltres in Mysterious Tile M. Any tips?

Thanks! Yeah, Mysterious Tile Z definately looks most like the Pokemon its based on.

Here's something to help you better visualize the other two:

RE: Nekoban Ryo's Art Showcase: Unown VCC added 10/03/11

Sorry for the lack of updates. This semester has been keeping me extremely busy. It's my busiest semester, yet! I'm not used to having school and a job at the same time. Anyway, I've been fairly freed up for the past couple days, so I did manage to put together a little bit of artwork.

I was wanting to make a fake card based on my program of study, Visual Communication (VCC). My original idea was to use Porygon, since we use computer graphics, but I later decided against it. Instead, I decided that Unown would be better. Afterall, Unown have eyes (visual) and form letters (communication). However, to make a fake like this, I would need to make artwork. Inspired by the old Zeo Unown fake, I was so badly wanting to render my Unown in 3D, so I looked up some "easy" free 3D modeling programs.

The first 3D modeling program I came across was CB Model Pro. The interface was organized and easy to use, but there just weren't many options. Nevertheless, I was able to make this. I don't like the thickness of it, though. I didn't see an option to make it thinner. I was still going to use this to make the other Unown, but the options available weren't enough to make some of them (not that I could figure out, anyway).

The next program I came across was EasyToy, a nifty little program that lets you trace 2D images, transform them into 3D objects, and even output them as patters for plushies, etc. I downloaded the 15-day trial. While the video tutorials made it look super easy, I had problems using it. After playing around with it for half an hour or so, I gave up on it.

Next I tried a program called AutoQ3D Community. It was made by the same people who made GIMP, so I figured it would be easy to use (like GIMP!). However, I couldn't manage to do anything other than drop in a cube. :/

Blender would probably be the best program to use, but my laptop doesn't have enough RAM to run it efficiently.

In the end, I decided to go back to how I usually draw Unown: compose the lineart in Microsoft Paint or Publisher and shade it in GIMP. Here's my newest artwork, Unown VCC. I hope you like it!

This is...awesome. Togebliss is perfect. I love the style for Wash Rotom. Celebi is stunning (although it could be a tad crisper). You're doing great. Keep up the fantastic work.

Once again, the great Aki churns out another gorgeous piece. Well done, brother!

The Unown look very much like the art that would've been on Unown cards circa the Neo-era. Ergo, I love it!

Sorry for the late replies and lack of art!

Thank you! Yeah, I agree with you on the Celebi pic. I really need to learn to make my non-vector artwork higher resolution. I have a habit of doing small drawings. :/

I'll try!

Thanks! I'm glad you think it looks Neo-esque! I was going for that, but I didn't think I really got it 3D-y enough. ^^'

UPDATE: Due to me not posting here in about 2 months, I've accumulated quite a bit of artwork. It's nothing awesome, but there's no denying that it's art.

First up, more mystery tiles. Unfortunately, none quite as epic as my Mystery Tiles AZM.

Here's a logo that I made for my Advertising Design class last semester. We had to make up a company to make ads for. Of course, what's a company without a logo? My company was a printing company, but I think it looks more like some kind of game logo. =3=

Here's a fake anime-style movie poster I made for my portfolio. I wanted to do more, but there was a deadline, so...

A couple pics I made in Publisher...

lan_the_jumpluff_by_karite_kita_neko-d4iffhm.png

Lan is the result of a cloning glitch gone wrong (in a good way) on Pokemon Silver Version. He evolved from a shiny Skiploom, which evolved from a shiny Persion, which evolved from a shiny Mew, which was badly-cloned from a shiny Meowth, which was badly-cloned from a shiny Magby, which was badly-cloned from a shiny Kingdra, which evolved from a shiny Seadra, which evolved from a shiny Dunsparce, which was badly-cloned from a shiny Gyarados. Something along those lines, anyway. He knows Pay Day, Ice Punch, Thunderpunch, and Fire Punch. He holds an Amulet Coin.

And here's a cosplay WIP that I might finish later:

nekozawa_by_karite_kita_neko-d4j1mwq.jpg

I highly doubt I'll do it. Cosplay isn't really my thing. I mainly did my Yami Bakura cosplay just to be able to say that I have cosplayed. I still like making things for cosplay, but I'm still really awkward at doing them. Don't get me wrong, I would LIKE to do more cosplays, but I'm just... awkward. I need more practice, I guess (or buddies that are into cosplay).

I got inspired to do this after finishing the live-action series of Ouran High School Host Club. I loved episode 8. XD

Sorry for the bad quality. It was worse before I blurred it, honest.

I really, really love your Laprince drawing. I love the detail. Your other drawings are great as well. Keep up the work!

Thank you. Honestly, I should probably work more in this style, but I really like coloring my work. This kind of shading makes it difficult to color.

RE: Nekoban Ryo's Art Showcase: King's Symbol! 12/17/11

UPDATE: King's Symbol!

symbol_of_the_king_by_karite_kita_neko-d4jdm1o.png

King's Rock, an item to be held by a Pokemon. It has a 10% chance of causing the target Pokémon to flinch when using a move that deals damage. It also causes Poliwhirl to evolve into Politoed or Slowpoke to evolve into Slowking when traded. Shellder are oddly attracted to this item.

I got bored yesterday and decided to make it. I can't remember what inspired me to do it. It was made with bakable sculpty clay. I gave it a rough texture by poking it with crumpled aluminum foil and gluing salt to it, then I painted it. I even brushed some soluble copper on it to give it more of a mineral look. Hopefully it looks enough like a rock that looks like a crown. I might be able to lure some Slowpoke here if it does. c:

I was finally able to take a good picture of it today. I took a trip down to the creek just to take it (and it was FREEZING out there). I'm really pleased with the result. The only thing I altered on this pic was the contrast. I had originally planned to manip. a realistic Slowpoke into the background, but I couldn't get it to work with the angle I took the pic at. I hope you like it!

WHOA. That King's Rock is phenomenal. I am extremely impressed.

Thank you so much! Hopefully it was worth nearly catching pneumonia! XD

RE: Nekoban Ryo's Art Showcase: King's Symbol! 12/17/11

It looked so real. Would you make something to attract Dragon-type Pokemon? :3
I can finally prove that Dragons are real.

I could try to make a Dragon Fang...

Wow the King's Rock is AMAZING!
Looks so good.
You should feel really proud ;)

I don't much care for it. Probably because it's a pretty dull item to begin with.

I'm glad you think so. :D

I do feel pretty good about it. I know it could have been better, though.

Thank you! ^^

RE: Nekoban Ryo's Art Showcase: King's Symbol! 12/17/11

It looks like a dinosaur's tooth, or a dragon's tooth. But I wasn't actually requesting for it to be made. But thanks. :)

I think it could slice your leg off, depending on how sharp it is. Ouch. ;)

RE: Nekoban Ryo's Art Showcase: Misdeeds of the Past 12/21/11

I was just wanting to make another item, so your suggestion helped. And if it looks like a dinosaur or dragon tooth... goal achieved.

It's actually not very sharp... at all. I rounded it off by sanding it.

UPDATE: Misdeeds of the Past...

Odd Keystone, A vital item that is needed to keep a stone tower from collapsing. It is said to imprison 108 foul spirits. You can sometimes hear sinister voices from it whispering "Go to Route 209... Go underground... Listen to the stone pillar... Talk to people underground..."

It was raining most of the day, but it finally stopped long enough for me to venture out to the sand bank, build the "crumbled tower" (which I don't think I did successfully - you might interpret it as the Underground instead), put my Odd Keystone scuplture on/in it, and take a picture. I tweaked the lighting a bit with GIMP and made some of the stones more greyish/black (a lot of the rocks around here are red). I also added effects to make the keystone glow.

Though the sculpture itself if Traditional Art, perhaps I should have submitted it as Digital Art since I added effects. Let me know what you think.

I hope you like it!

RE: Nekoban Ryo's Art Showcase: Misdeeds of the Past 12/21/11

It looks so real, I thought it was actually glowing by itself when I saw it. It looks like... the real thing. It's so beautiful. :D
