Strategy:

Hey guys I want to make a competitive Dark Pokemon deck and this is what I have so far. Any suggesstions on what to add? Remove?

Any tips?

RE: new Player... I want a competitive Pokemon Dark Deck

I would suggest cutting back on the professor junipers and instead adding more N's and colresses, because though juniper is better for more cards N and colress can be controlled by you, and hence work for a more versatile strategy. Also I would recommend pairing this with physic types, perhaps mew2? for mew twos X ball attack is basicly the same as Yveltals attack. Also instead of max potion, would adding jinx be better? I would think so because jinx will continually heal your active Pokémon from the bench. hydreigon is an interesting pick for energy transfer. I myself would not choose this as a first choice because of how long it will take just to get it to evolve. for I would expect your opposition (if your facing any one good) to have a fast attack like nightmarch maybe. I think malamar EX would be good to have in this deck as well. along with hypnotoxic laser, giratina (the team plasma one) and mountain ring (a stadium to protect your bench) I also recommend using muscle band instead of dark claw just because it allows for more options when attaching it though I wouldn't add it any ways. Sigilyph (the one that is immune to EX's) is also good to have for backup. Now I expect you to probably ask how you're going to add all of this. well here is a revised version of what you had. it's not perfect because I didn't have allot of time to think it all through but I hope it will help.

Pokémon: 19
2 Malamar EX (kill)
2 Darkrai Ex (beat down & free retreat)
1 Yveltal EX (beat down)
2 Mewtwo EX (beat down and kill)
2 Giratina (beat down)
1 Yveltal (beat down)
2 Hydreigon (trans)
1 Zweilous (evo)
2 Deino (evo)
3 Jinx (healing)
1 sigilyph (EX protection)

Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 27
2 Professor Juniper (draw)
3 Shauna (draw)
3 Colress (draw)
4 N (draw)
1 Dowsing Machine (reuse)
2 Tool Scrapper (removal)
2 Rare Candy (evolve)
4 Dark Patch (attach)
4 Ultra Ball (search)
2 mountain ring (bench protection and countering)

Energy: 14
2 Double Colorless Energy
6 Darkness Energy
3 physic
3 blend energy (fire/dark/physic/grass)

Strategy: use Malamars ability to put the opposing Pokémon to sleep every time you attach an energy to it. along with hypnotoxic laser, then use Hydreigons ability to move your dark energy around so all your Pokémon have free retreat with Darkrai's dark cloak ability, then beat them down with more damage from Giratina (it's at a hundred damage now because of the effect of a special condition.) and if you need to hit big then there is always Malamar mew two and Yveltal.

You're draw support looks fine. The only thing I might change is take out 2 Shauna for VS Seeker. Being able to choose which Supporter to play for your turn is not to be underrated. You should also find room for Lysandre.

Tool Scrapper is a bit outdated. There's a better card that removes all of your opponent's tools: Startling Megaphone. You should check it out.

I think you could cut 2 Darkrai for a thicker Hydreigon line just because it's really only useful for the free retreat. Yveltal is usually a better attacker. The only exception is when you can pick something off that's on the Bench.

If you want, I can elaborate more later. I'm on my phone right now.

So, youre saying to go down on the Darkreis? Also, is it viable to go full black? Or to be a tier 1 deck should I combine?

I play MTG a lot and we use MTGtop8 to see what top tournament deck lists are. Is there something similair for pokemon?

Pokemon:

  • 3 Deino
    1 Zweilous
    3 Hydreigon
    2 Yveltal EX
    1 Yveltal
    1 Darkrai EX
    1 Virizion EX
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums:

  • 4 Professor Juniper
    4 N
    3 Skyla
    2 Colress
    2 Lysandre

    4 Ultra Ball
    3 Hard Charm
    3 Max Potion
    3 Rare Candy
    3 Shadow Circle
    2 VS Seeker
    1 Computer Search
    1 Startling Megaphone
    1 Professor's Letter
Energy:

  • 9 Darkness Energy
    3 Rainbow Energy

This is a pretty straightforward Yveltal Hydreigon list. The focus is on being very defensive with Shadow Circle and Hard Charm, being able take at least one hit, and then Max Potion all of the damage off with Dark Trance shenanigans. Jamming Net is also an option. It reduces damage you take, and keeps them from attaching Muscle Band, so the effect is two fold. It also keeps Vir/Gen players from attaching G Booster which can OHKO everything in your deck.

Rainbow Energy is for Hydreigon's attack which hits for a ton of damage. And you can finish the Pokemon off if it retreats to the Bench with the 30 damage from Darkrai's attack since 140 (Hydreigon's attack) + 30 = 170, and a lot of EX's have 170 HP. With Virizion, Rainbows also lets you ward off status conditions with it's Ability.

The list might need some refinement since I haven't played this deck in ages, but it's definitely a good place to start.

If you want to go full Darkness, you could play just Yveltal without the Hydreigon support. It's a solid deck choice that plays DCE attackers like Seismitoad and Mewtwo.

Whats a DCE attacker?

And which list do you feel is better? The Hydreigon or a Mewtwo one? And the strategy for Max Potion is to transfer all the energy off a pokemon using Hydreigon, then heal so I dont discard any energy, then put all the ergy back on to attack?

Wait isnt Mewtwo EX attack the same as Yveltal EX? Why not just run 4 of Yveltal instead then?

Also would this be a tournment competitive decklist?

Double Colorless Energy. Things that can run off of a Double Colorless. Yveltal, Mewtwo, Seismitoad. Those sort of things.

Probably the one that doesn't have to set up a Stage 2 with Seismitoad in the format. No Stage 2's is also typically a lot more consistent, however Hydreigon has always been a fairly viable Stage 2 to play.

Correct!

I think I was just using those as examples of DCE attackers. I wouldn't play Mewtwo. Definitely Seismitoad though.

I see, do you feel this deck can win tournaments? Local ones not like... state tournaments or big money ones lol.

In the right meta, yeah I can see it. The good thing about playing Rainbows is that you have room for techs against certain match ups that you'll expect to see at local tournaments. Like if there are a lot of VirGen or Metal players in your area, you could find room for Charizard EX. That sort of thing. At larger tournaments, it's more of a long shot. Play around with that list and feel free to make any changes you think it needs.

Sounds good, thank you for the help!

What do you think of Malamar EXas a 2 of in this deck as well?

I think as a one-of if you can find the room for it. You only need one since you'll only ever attach to it to trigger it's Hyper Hypnosis. After that, you can transfer the Energy off to attack with something else.
