New to Competitive

I have been playing casually for half a year and would like to get into competitive. I know how to make a metagame deck etc., but how else should I prepare?

Thank you in advance

I'd reccomend watching some youtube videos about competetive pokemon stuff. channels id reccomend watching: PokemanDanLV45, TCGZapdos, The Top Cut, TheJWittz(he only does tcg stuff on tuesdays but his others vids are pretty good, too), and finally, RattataJoey. That will help you learn some of the best decks in the format and dan has lots of deck lists if you want to use those or just learn the kinds of things you should prepare for if you want to make a rogue deck. once you understand the competitive scene pretty well, id reccomend browsing sites like this and pokegym to learn what kinds of specific things to prepare for. either that or find a list on the internet, throw it together and go to a tournament near you and learn your local meta and ask other people there for advice on your lists.

I'd honestly suggest just going with the flow. I was playing casually for about 5 years, going to states just for the dice and such, and this year was my first competitive year, and by far the best. If you just go and do you're own thing, and don't listen to everyone (listen to people though). Also I'd really really really suggest you start by hanging with the "top cut jocks" at you're league. Easiest way to become one of them is to join them.

Thank you but I already knew about it. The closest one to me is two hours away.
