Pokemon Next Month's 'CoroCoro' Promises Big News

Here's what I'm thinking:
- 2016: Volcanion (+ forme?) + Gen 7 Pokemon or quirk (End of Gen 5 had Mega Mewtwo in Genesect movie)
- 2017: Gen 7
 
I kinda get the feeling Z has been delayed. All the Zygarde in the anime stuff seems to indicate the game should have been out this fall. My guess is either the game has been cancelled all together, or perhaps Pokemon Z will be a release title for the Nintendo NX. Pokemon sells systems and Nintendo absolutely needs NX to be a massive hit right out the gate. A enhanced gen six sequel (bursting with new Mega Pokemon of course) would be just what the doctor ordered to sell systems. The anime is of course planned months in advance, if the decision to put Z on the NX wasn't made till late in development it may have been too late to write/animate/voice a new filler story line for the anime, so they did the Zygarde stuff now. I'm not expecting an NX version of Z to be ground breaking, but enhancing it enough to show off some new features would be enough to sell the system to Pokemon players. Something like Crystal, which while being a gen 2 game is only playable on the newer Game Boy Color system. Perhaps a 3Ds version of Z could follow in a few months? If Z is an NX game I don't expect it to be announced until the NX is officially revealed so I would assume next month's reveal is just Volcanion. Of course if it is just the 3Ds last Hoorah so to speak it could be coming next month, though not including it in this month's Nintendo Direct is a weird decision to me.

I dunno. All the Zygarde stuff being shoehorned into the anime without a supporting game has seemed odd to me for a while now. I think we all need to expect the unexpected at this point.

I doubt Z is going to come out for the NX. Gamefreak has never put a Pokemon game on a new Nintendo platform close to that platforms launch, its always 2 or more years later. I also doubt they would even come close to cancelling Z, but I wouldn't put it past that maybe Z was delayed. Based on how re-visits go, they tend to have more post game, and more of a fleshed out story. X and Y were quite sparse in story compared to gen 5, and with Z's Zygarde elements, it could make things more complex. If they put Z on a specific console like Crystal, then I think it would be safe to assume they would put it on the New Nintendo 3DS, but I'm pretty sure it will be available to all 3DS owners. Remember that both Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 all came out after the 3ds launched, but they released on the DS instead. Even Emerald was released for the GBA after the DS was released. Crystal came out on the Gameboy color exclusively because the GBC cartridges could hold more memory that the GB cartridges, and Crystal had a lot of new elements to it. If NX is going to really be the successor of the WiiU AND the 3DS, then chances are that Gamefreak may have its first team working on an NX game (Gen 7, Stadium 3, Snap 2), while the second team is finishing up Z.
 
I bet the big announcement for 2016 will be a downloadable patch that gives you new benches throughout Kalos, and even Hoenn! This going to be huge! Get ready to sit all year long!
 
I personally wouldn't be opposed to the new movie's story arc including/explaining Shadow Mewtwo, though I see that being pretty doubtful as that's more of a thing for Pokken. The most we'll get out of Shadow Mewtwo aside Pokken stuff is probably a trading card box.
 
You can't always use history to dictate the future. Nintendo needs NX to be a hit out the gate, not a sleeper hit like the 3DS or a cult favourite like the Wii U. They need another Wii to keep them in the console business. They cannot flounder its release. A strong library of new games from established franchises needs to be available day 1. I'm not saying it will happen, or is even likely to happen, but having a main series Pokemon game available exclusively on NX at launch would sell thousands of consoles. If Z could be upgraded/reworked to being a NX game it would be well worth delaying it (and keeping Pokemon fans satiated with things like the RBY re-release and Pokemon GO) and using the selling power of the brand to their advantage. Launching Gen 7 would also be a way to do that, which could also be why there is no Z game, but a Z story-line already. Cancel Z, put all the effort and resources into Gen 7 and launch it a year early to sell their new system. I feel like Z is the easier option of the two, thus allowing them to wait till fall '17 or spring '18 to launch gen 7 on an NX system that has had the kinks of launch worked out already, but with Nintendo you never really know.
 
Lol, I doubt it... but if they cancel out Z or release it exclusively for a new console, I'm quitting... I'm already planning on probably stop buying games after the end of gen 6 due to personal time restrictions and increasing lack of patience... If they release Z on a new console, there's no way I'm going to waste money on a game AND a console...
 
You guys are seriously overreacting saying that Z is cancelled. Just because we've had anime news for 4 months without a game announcement doesn't mean we're moving on to 7th gen, there's absolutely no evidence of that. More than likely we're getting movie information and/or a Z announcement. 7th gen is probably 2017.
 
I am not going to hype myself up for the 'BIG news' this time. I am just waiting and see on the 12th Dec.
