NFL Discussion Topic - Favorite Teams and How They are Doing

I really think San Francisco is the most over-rated team left in the playoffs. I don't know why pretty much no one is giving Carolina a fighting chance, despite the Panthers 10-9 win in Candlestick Park in November and the Panthers being the home team in this NFC Divisional match-up.

I'm really hoping Seattle clocks San Fran in the NFC Championship. I'm not big on Seattle, I just hate San Francisco more.

The 2nd half...the lights just went out for Carolina, and they played well in the 1st half too.

Maybe San Fran isn't overrated but a good team and you're a little biased ^_^' Picking Seattle to win regardless because I would never pick anyone against them when Seattle is at CenturyLink Field.

Seahawks 23 - Saints 15
Patriots 43 - Colts 22
49ers 23 - Panthers 10
Broncos 24 - Chargers 17

Unbelievable that the Chargers let it slip with all the chances they got. Ugh... I guess I'll change my favorite to Seattle.

I don't know about your scores too much, as after a wild BCS week, damn near anything can happen this weekend. But, I will say I agree that all the home teams seem a notch above their competition. The AFC games are the repeat for upsets.

Let ye forget, it was 3 years ago that this happened https://www.neworleanssaints.com/news-and-events/article-1/Playoff-Flashback-Jan-8-2011-NFC-wild-card-Seattle-41-Saints-36/832f274c-148f-436c-8f2c-b2c5817c47b4 and less time since they were most recently embarrassed in Seattle.

I'll pick all 4 home teams, but not be the least bit surprised if I'm 3-1 again.

Yo, you forgot to count my picks! I did pick all 4 home teams, so went 3-1 again, for a 6-2 playoff record so far. I guess I'll spell it out better this week.

Broncos to beat the Pats
Seahawks to beat the 49ers

Patriots win 43 - 22. Luck throws 4 interceptions and Pats score on 4 rushing TDs. Or it might be 5

LeGarrette Blount became the second player in NFL Playoff history to score 4+ rushing TDs (Ricky Watters for San Francisco in the 1993 NFC Divisional Playoffs).

And as a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, that made me curse Greg Schiano's name and make me glad the GM got fired as well. Can't believe they refused to use him properly and ditched him. Grrrrrrrrrr

Well, my Saints are done but at least they were a lot better than they were last year. Anyway my picks are in green this week

49ers vs. Seahawks
Patriots vs. Broncos

AFC Championship: New England Patriots 23, Denver Broncos 27
NFC Championship: San Francisco 49ers 17, Seattle Seahawks 31

I'm sticking by my Denver-Seattle preseason Super Bowl pick until the very end.

That is what I figured would be the best picks a long time ago, but right now, I'm thinking New England has a good chance of beating Denver.

It's the 90s bias I have. Back when Dallas was good, the only team that stood in their way from the Super Bowl year after year was San Francisco (except one year when this man stood in their way).

RE: The PokéBeach LGBT(QIAP+) Discussion Thread

Yay I get to necro a thread. So, what is the opposition to gay marriage in the first place? I'm christian and I still don't get it. Marriage as a legal concept that is. Obviously by the Bible's definition, gay marriage can't happen, so Church marriages probably wont be happening (not saying that there is anything wrong with gay people getting married in a church, just saying that it's unlikely, heck, I'm not even saying that the bible explicitly outlaws it, I haven't done enough research on that). So honestly, what is the opposition to this? It makes perfect sense to allow two men (or women) to enter into the same legal agreement as a man and woman. Also, I'm not sure why "sin" is always brought up in regards to homosexuality. EVERYONE has sinned. Most people probably sin ever day. I know I do. So maybe it is a sin to commit homosexual acts, so what? It's wrong to have straight sex outside of marriage too, and a lot of people ignore that "rule". Also, I'm not condoning sin in any way, I'm just saying that no one has any room to judge, leave that to God. And if you don't believe in God, that's your choice too, go ahead and run with it, however much I would prefer everyone was christian, that probably won't ever happen. Sadly.

Hope that made sense

Manning foundation to earn $500 each time he says 'Omaha' at game

UPDATED JAN 16, 2014 10:45 AM ET

OMAHA, NEB. (AP)
Peyton Manning's foundation for at-risk youth will receive a $500 contribution for every time the Denver Broncos' quarterback shouts ''Omaha'' during the AFC championship game.

Manning brought national attention to Nebraska's largest city with his loud ''Omaha'' pre-snap calls during the Broncos' playoff win over San Diego last weekend.

Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce president and CEO David Brown announced Thursday that five Omaha-based companies are combining to donate $500 to Manning's ''Peyback Foundation'' each time he shouts ''Omaha'' in Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

Manning said ''Omaha'' 44 times in last week's game. The same number against the Patriots would be worth $22,000 to his foundation.

The participating companies are ConAgra Foods, First National Bank of Omaha, Mutual of Omaha, Omaha Steaks and Union Pacific Railroad.

That made sense in the most theistic - sided way possible. I can't help but feel slightly offended, but that's probably just me.
