Hi all, as the title has said, this thread is discussion bout night march. There are many threads discussing on variants and how the deck is pretty unique and fun to play with. i started winning and liking how the prizes trade of and how interesting the deck is. however, recently i got bolted back to reality by this deck- PYROAR!

needless to say, i got totally stalled out as i ran no litwick-lampent lines. having joltik, pumpkaboo and mew ex isnt gonna cut it. so i was wondering if there are other techs to prepare for pyroar deck, or relevant ways to get pass a pyroar deck? TIA

RE: night march OP, or is it?

I feel eventually there won't be many Pyroar decks left with Mega manectric threat being big in the future. For now I think the Gourgeist/Celebi EX is better if you expect Pyroar decks. But right now I am personally just going to use no evolutions and take the auto loss.

I see, Gourgeist Celebi seems decent. Will give it a try! Thanks!

RE: night march OP, or is it?

I have seen some people use Chandelure instead of Gourgeist. While it does win games much quicker, it is slower to set-up, riskier, and doesn't have as much HP, meaning that you have to put a lot of risk into the deck, and Yveltal/Garbodor is pretty much an automatic failure.

As for Pyroar, while he DOES exist, I don't feel that Pyroar is as played as he used to be, especially since Garbodor and Stage 1 decks have gotten a bit more popular. I have seen many a Donphan, Raichu, and Beartic!

RE: Night March OP, Or is it?

I played against Night March a few times using Yveltal/Garbodor, and it was pretty quick to set up but too fragile. Here's how one of the games I remember went: I hit a MewEX with Oblivion Wing, then OHKO another with MewtwoEX. MewtwoEX is return KO'd by the other MewEX, which I finish off using Oblivion Wing again. Yveltal is finished by Joltik, who I OHKO with Y Cyclone and move a DCE to my benched Trubbish. At this point, my opponent realized he was trapped, so he scooped.

I think that the deck just needs a little more beefy attacker. As others are saying, Pyroar is kind of laying low for now, but if you have a lot in your area then it's just bad luck, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem that you have to tech for.

i see, alright will playtest more to find some ways. thanks for all the advice.

*P.S* : do keep interesting ideas on what techs to put coming in. doesn't hurt to bomb in some weirder ideas :)

RE: Night March OP, Or is it?

If you're playing Mew EX and Dimensional Valley, you could add in Cobalion EX or or Rayquaza LT. Both have attacks that get past those annoying abilities and can be copied by Mew. I'd probably play Cobalion since you'd only have to use one type of energy, but Rayquaza is a bit more difficult for the Pyroar player to KO (thanks to no fire weakness).

RE: Night March OP, Or is it?

Nobody's mentioned the arguably best way to run it... with Flareon and Leafeon. Helps vs seis, pyroar, virgen, metal...

RE: Night March OP, Or is it?

The problem in mixing both decks in will be consistency. I'm not convinced that adding Eevee and Flareon would cure the issue that Night March has in regards to the fragility of it. Night March is about speed and taking out EXs with quick KOs. Flareon isn't. Though I can understand the appeal since you'll be mostly taken down as well.

RE: Night March OP, Or is it?

I think any deck that uses Battle Compressor as part of it's strategy has something going for it. The reason: VS Seeker. This allows for a lot of neat tricks without going too much out of your way.
