Ninetales from HeartGold & SoulSilver (#7) [6/8]

Guiding questions:
1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
5. How's the artwork?

1. It sucks on its own, as stated by 18 others on this thread, but potential lies in drawing stuff
2. It really pwns in Charizard decks. Infernape X could run on this as well
3. Anything where you can retrieve the energies from the discard, so fishermans are a must
4. 2/5, its not that good really
5. Nice addition of the fire stone, but other than that, it looks constipated. Ninetales cannot be constipated. 1/5

I think this card is great for draw power especialy after the format change. Only problem is the fact that you have to discard a fire energy I see an increase in fire decks....Im gonna miss claydol -.-

1. On its own, this card is not worth being played. It can do 60 damage for three energy, whereas other Pokemon can do 60 for one energy, (Kingdra Prime) even if it has a drawback. It has 90 HP, which is average for a stage 1 non-Prime non-Lv.X, but it will not hold up to today's extremely fast Metagame.

2. It goes in a deck with Charizard and Typhlosion Prime, Ninetales discards an energy with his Poke Power, and draw three cards. Then, use Typlosion Prime to attach it to one of your Pokemon, while both Pokemon boost Charizard's attack.

3. Above? And chuntingpro mentioned above with Infernape Lv.X to discard energies and then use Flare Up, although Infernape Lv.X won't be around much longer...

4. This card gets a 4/5 because it will be used for drawpower in almost any fire deck, but it's use outside of a fire deck is limited, and, it it gets stuck active, it's a horrible attacker.

5. In my opinion, the artwork in HeartGold & SoulSilver and HS-Unleashed has greatly improved from that of previous sets. I particularly like how if a Pokemon evolves using an Item in the game, the Item is in the artwork. Ninetales in particular has, in my opinion, great artwork.

1. it doesnt stand on its own because usually used with typhlosion prime
2. a popular metagame deck its used in would be fire bear Ursaring/Typhlosion/ninetales
3. you can use it to dicard and attach to ursaring with typhlosion and also it would deal damage
to add 60 damage with hammer arm plus an expert belt 4 20 more
4. i would give it a 2 or 3 cause it helps get damage on ursaring and draws 3 more cards for other stuff but u can use engineers adjustments instead
5. its a perfect drawing for something other than a prime

Guiding questions:
1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
-Again like everyone says not good on its own but has potential to make most fire decks pretty fast in draw power
2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
-Again Typhlosion prime and Charizard will most likely be popular with this
3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
-I found an awesome combo to go with this. I call it magmacatty. Pretty much use the UL Magmortar, Ninetales, and PL Delcatty. Put the energy in the discard with Ninetales, put two energy back on top of deck with Delcatty and attack for at least 100 (120 E-Belt) with a possible chance of 150 with the third card with Magmortar.
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
-I would give it a rating of 3/5. Its again very good in a fire deck for draw power but outside it doesn't get much better then in fire.
5. How's the artwork?
-I love the artwork. It seems that the artwork personally keeps getting better and better. (I'm really glad that the clay looking ones didn't show up.)

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
It´s a good card but it can´t stand for its own; honestly it have potential as a supporter.
The hp is too low, and have just one attack. Ninetales it´s a common attacker with fire attribute.
2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
Combine it with Charizard/Thyplosion, or in any deck with an aceleration estrategy. other chance is combine it with a dark/fire deck (we use it here in Chile); speed combined with power.
3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
the low hp and the single attack is not a good option in the current metagame. Thyplosion/Charizard, good option...
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
5/5 as a supporter; 3/5 as a attacker
5. How's the artwork?
It´s a good artwork, nice :)

1. Ninetales is the best drawpower in the format in my opinion. Its a smart play in any deck that can handle having tons of fire energy.
2. Mainly Charizard. There aren't many other decks that can run it effectively. Its an ok replacement for claydol in flygon. It also might see some play with RDL when it somes out.
3. Ninetales + typhlosion is a great combo.
4. 3 out of 5 stars. Terrifc draw power, just not versitile enough, and its attack sucks. I miss energy draw delcatty!
5. 5 out of 5. Some of the best artwork ever.

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
1. It will not work on its own. Its only good use is as a bench tech for fire decks.

2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
2. You can't call it a popular metagame deck, but its main use is in the Typhlosion/Charizard deck. Aside from that deck, it doesn't have a lot of use in anything else.

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
3. Ninetales' Roast Reveal PokePower will work especially well with Charizard's Fire Formation PokeBody. Ninetales' PokePower will allow you to draw more cards and therefore fill your bench, which will give Charizard's attacks more power because of his PokeBody. It can be a deadly combination if done correctly.

4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
4. Aside from its use in the Charizard/Typhlosion decks, there isn't any other good use for this card. There aren't too many well known fire decks right now, so until there are more decks that Ninetales can be used in, I'm giving this card a 2/5. I'm not saying it makes a great bench tech, though.

5. How's the artwork?
5. I've never been much of a Ninetales fan, but I like the art style of this card.
