Hey guys, I have a theory about N's name being Nikorai.
First off, Cheren means Black and Bianca means White in foreign languages, so N's name- being the third rival- might be named after Gray.
The Greek word for gray is nkri.
If you guys remember, some guy from 4chan (or 2chan, I forgot lol), before the games were released in Japan, said that N's name was Nikorai. This was dismissed as a rumor, and it was never confirmed by GF.
However, if you look carefully, NiKoRaI.
Every alternate letter of this name is NKRI, Gray.
Also, Rai is connected to electricity in Japanese, and if you spell the name as Nicolai or Nicorai, the "ico" could mean ice. These are related to the Unova dragon trio. Not so sure where fire comes in, but meh.
Nikorai/Nicorai/Nikolai/Nicolai also derives from Nicholas which means "Warriors of Victory" in Greek.
So, especially considering Nikorai when romanized is Nicolai- which is a real life name- I would like N's name to be Nicolai- Nicolai Harmonia.

I have to say I didn't know that Cheren and Bianca ment Black and White. But the way you explained it does make sense, But why wouldn't they name him Nikorai instead of N?
 
I heard his name is to be revealed in gray, referring to the point that gray will be a sequel or continuation of the story.
 
...and Game Freak said they would reveal N's true name in the third game, which is why I made the theory in the first place. N could also be a variable, but I doubt Gatis would name his son- the leader- just N. It's a codename.
 
^That actually seems plausible. The third games always have little twists and turns in their story-lines, especially with the villainous teams.

^I KNOW he is, I'm pointing out that the codename N has a special meaning, but that the actual character has a name!
 
Another rumor also said that his name would be North. But I don't know, although the other part of that rumor didn't pan out well, it could still be possible. But i really want his name to be just N, to keep the mystery.
 
Seems a bit complicated... :S
I doubt they would go THAT far to establish N's real name.
I'm guessing it will possibly be revealed in 3rd edition. (just a guess)

This is actually a pretty excellent theory. I do hope that N has more of an "evil" role in the third game. Aw man, I really hope that Nintendo/Game Freak really takes advantage of the potential of this game. There's so many directions they could take Grey.
 
I'm going to go with The Flaming Spade on this one and say N will be Nintendo. It just seems right.

How? What does the antagonist of a Pokemon game have anything to do with the name of the publishing company? There really isn't anything (that I see) that backs that statement up besides Nintendo starting with "N"...
 
Nintendo secretly wants to separate people from Pokemon because the franchise is ending soon? Sounds plausible lol.

Also, it would be funny, so why not.

The franchise will never end as long as more children are born, and N's name being Nintendo? How 'bout no?
And it's not funny, please discuss the actual theory or theories that are more plausible than satirical.
(I'm going to die laughing if that will be his name.)
