Numbers at the top of a thread

Has anyone else noticed the 6 digit number that sometimes appears on the top left of the banner? (right above the Poke in Pokebeach) Whats up with that?

That is the id number of the thread. I think it was put in by WPM to quickly find the thread id due to the new urls. I just use the [thread] tags that I created when I need to link a thread. All that you need to put between the tags is the name of the thread.

It should be. In fact, it should be on _all_ threads. Can you show one where it is not?

As DE said, it's so I know the thread IDs for the news stories. However, the ID can only be seen by non-members (mods, etc.). And when the old banner goes back up, the number won't even be visible anymore because the blue background will hide it!

Okay, so I wasn't the only person that was having this problem. I thought it was just some sort of weird one-off.

The old banner is back up anyways, so it shouldn't be a problem anymore.
