BW/BW2 Official Black and White Discussion Thread

So apparently I just caught a Pokemon that only rocked once. I thought I noticed this earlier, and I was gonna mention it, but I just brushed it off as me just not paying attention and not seeing the first two rocks.

But I just caught a Litwick and I was watching the whole time and it only rocked once and I caught it. Is there a name for this, or am I crazy or what? :)

That's called a Critical Capture, BigUm. It's when you throw a Ball and it's almost a guaranteed certain capture. Kinda like a Master Ball, but it works for anything. I've only gotten it a couple times in the game so far.

I just got Black! :D I am now going to play it and trade my pokemon over to my White once I beat it.

Ah, nice! I have Black as well, but let me know if you need anything. I will keep my eyes open for Pokemon you might need. Have fun.

Thanks, psyphoon! I'm using my Black to help complete my White pokedex, and since Black has better training and stuff like that, I'm going to trade my good pokemon over to Black. So far I only have one badge in it, but I'm getting there! I'm just soft-resetting for a shiny Charmander in my LeafGreen right now, for my ultimate EV trained team that will be transferred to White to EV train.

I've started my quest to complete the Pokedex. I'm at 350 Pokemon SEEN, but I am going for Pokemon obtained. I really wish they had kept Pokemon obtained the default, as it really is more prestigious, in my opinion. I have around 120 obtained so far. I'm trying to complete the Unova dex. I will then go for Hoenn, and do the rest in order (Hoenn is by far my favorite region).

Ahhh so THAT'S the critical capture I've been reading about. So it just kinda happens randomly? It's happened twice for me in this game, as far as I can tell.

I have noticed that I've only needed 1 ball for the last 10 or so Pokemon I've caught. I didn't know if there's trends that you go through where your Pokeballs (I'm a Great Ball guy, myself) seem to work really well or if I've just been doing a good job of wearing down their health. I almost always whittle health down as far as I can. I have yet to use a Quick Ball. Hehe

P.S. Imagine my surprise, the quote feature worked this time when I clicked "Reply"!

Yeah, it's pretty random. I had it happen where I threw a lot of Balls at something trying to catch it. I think the game pitied me at that point. :p

I am somewhat new to the whole nature concept. My Zekron is "quirky" and my Kyurem is "jolly". Ia that good? Bad? Common?

If competitive stats doesn't of concern for you, it's alright.
But if it does, yeah. The natures they got are pretty bad.
you can do a little tweaking on Kyurem though, since his attack stat is respectable.

It concerns me somewhat. I am trying to create a halfway decent team. I guess I am going to have a little trouble.

You can try this:

Kyurem @life orb/ choice band /scarf( for revenge killer)
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 atk/ 252 speed
-Outrage
-Dragon claw
-Shadow Claw
-Stone Edge

Kyurem's physical movepool is pretty shallow. Outrage will be your main STAB move, dragon claw for reliability. Shadow claw hits annoying psychic and ghost types and Stone edge as a surprise attack to fire types that tries to hit you super effectively. Also works wonders on the likes of Ho-oh.

I don't see this as good as the special attack side though.

BlueEyedSteelix: I am also trying to obtain all 649 pokemon! I have games from every region, but not every version. I'm going to need to do some trades with people so I can obtain all 649. I'm missing FireRed, Emerald (although that shouldn't be a big deal), and SoulSilver. I have all the other ones (that aren't GameBoy Color games)

I just finished the fourth gym. I am now training in the Route 6 area as well as hunting those "shaking grass" spots.

anywhere there is moving grass. Caught one near daycare, next to pinwheel forsest. They are frickn everywhere. It gets annoying when yourtrying to find something else like wild lv 50 tyranitars post game

i got a wild metagross in like 5 tries in the giant chasm. im gonna go for crobat next

sweet. I m super unlucky but i did get 5 tyranitars (if i see them i have to get them). Looking thorugh giant chasm now too.
