RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Anyone notice how the new FA EX and shiny Pokemon have texture to their foil?
Well, I attempted to create some similar texture foil for anyone willing to give it a go:

Blending modes may vary.

Ohh nice one Nekoz0r!

They do vary on each one, especially the FA EX's, nicely done :D

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

I have a Photoshop question!

I thought I could figure this out...but no... Haha! xD

I need to apply a holo sheet to the 1st edition symbol and only the symbol. I can't erase the sheet into the shape of the symbol because it looks really bad... :/ I also can't do a pattern overlay because that's only one layer and the holo doesn't show well.

Anyone have any ideas?

Also! Does anyone have a font guide for the e-series cards?

Thanks! :D

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Try this Kat :
  • Load your holosheet(s)
  • Click edit > Define Pattern.
  • Save that and repeat for any others you wish to have as well.
  • Then open your .PSD file with your card template/etc in.
  • Duplicate your 1st Edition symbol and hide the original (in case you don't like how it turns out)
  • Now duplicate the copy another 2 times, so you have 3.
  • The top 2 of the 3 are what you'll apply the defined pattern to now, the 3rd bottom one needs to be either black or white (dependant on how it turns out with the other 2's filters.)
  • The top of these 3, double click the layer and change "fill opacity" to 0%.
  • Then "pattern overlay" and in the pattern drop down, find your holosheet pattern.
  • Still on this window you need to apply a filter to it, I always first try with color dodge (leave it at 100% first, so you can then alter it later)
  • Now that one is done, load the 2nd of the 3 (middle layer) and do the same as above, but this time multiply filter (you may need to have this at about 60-70% opacity)
  • Now this is where the 3rd and bottom layer colour comes into play. Black might not show the holo too well, but then again white may not either, thats something you'd have to fiddle with :)
  • Rename them, play with the filters etc and you have your holo 1st edition.
Seems more complicated than it is, just something you get used to when trying holosheets on various existing images :D

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Does anyone know where to get basic and special energy card blanks?

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

If you want them for DP style, you can find them in the first post, in DP section, from Fanking Omega, in the 'Regular Blanks' link. :)

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

If you mean BW era ones, then not really.

I made my own (not a very great one tbh) on my Scyther EX card. Was a case of using the paintbrush with 3 layers, 1 colour for each in a line, blur them, then rearrange their size/filters.

Thats the only way to get them as close to it as possible. After that (and beneath that layer, but above most of the image) is the texture effect to make it appear "bumpy" etc :)

Is there a really good foil sheet for EX cards?

Not sure if this is what you're talking about and it isn't "really good", but I based this one on the foil used on the jumbo Mewtwo EX promo:

As far as the other non-FA EXs, don't they just use a standard refractor foil?

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Hey guys. By any chance could I convince one of you to make a Dragon-type blank in HGSS-style, using Cascade Gonpory's blank?

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

I know this doesn't fit here, but i just wanted to ask if anyone could tell me how to upload pictures from deviantart to here, because it doesn't work for me.

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Right click the picture you want, "Copy Image Address," click the picture icon when making your post, paste the URL when it asks you to, and it'll go into your post.

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

I tried that but it just put a box with an X in it and the adress

Code:

gives
exa_3_samurott_by_giantoshawott-d4qmnl8.jpg

whereas
Code:

gives
gallery

That's the only thing I can think of that would be doing that to you.

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

It's the address of the page with only the image on it, nothing else. If you right-click the image and choose "Copy Image Address," it'll give you the one in my first example.
