RE: Hoenn Text Fakes Sets

You can have a second post to keep track of stuff. It's perfectly fine.

Another ambitious set. I love well presented text fakes. They can be a very nice alternative. Looking good!

RE: Hoenn Text Fakes Sets

This looks so exciting! So great to see everyone hyped about ORAS, and surskit looks great!

RE: Hoenn Text Fakes Sets

INTRO POST
I've always enjoyed making text fakes (I'd make them image-based but I'm not particularly good at it), and really liked what GadgetJax is doing right now in terms of trying to make an actual, realistic, entire set.

Of course, ORAS is the subject of a lot of attention right now, so I decided I'd make a couple of sets with them in mind. I'm doing it just for fun, but I thought I'd share it here as well. I'd love to eventually make them image-based, but it probably won't happen any time soon.

There will be 2 sets - simply Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire - each with 105 cards plus 1 secret rare. It's every single Hoenn Pokémon plus Mega Evolutions revealed so far. Legendary Pokémon will only have Pokémon-EX forms, and Mega Evolutions will follow the old Pokémon-Lv.X rule instead of the current Mega Rule, with the added caveat that you can only have 1 Mega Evolution Pokémon in play at any time.

All of the Mega Evolutions and Pokémon-EX together left me with too many Ultra Rares, so a number of the legendary Pokemon have been split out into Promos. There are a few promo Trainers as well. All in all, there are 2 106-card sets (counting the SR in each one) and 15 promos. Depending on future ORAS revealed Megas, I might put more promos in later.

These sets are intended to be designed for a format including only the two sets. I also want to try to keep every type somewhat playable, although it will be tough for some (ie. lightning, which only has Plusle, Minun and the Manectric line), and no type particularly dominant. As a result a new slate of Trainers will be introduced with the sets, though some of them will be simple reprints of already-existing Trainers.

I'll be posting them as I come up with them, and I'll keep them all in this post. For now, I'll just post the two set lists.

Hope you all enjoy :)

To start off the set, Alpha Sapphire card 9/105, Surskit:

Surskit 40 HP [G]
Basic Pokémon
283.gif

#283. Pond Skater Pokémon HT: 1'08", WT: 3.7 lbs.

[Ability] Water Glider
If this Pokémon has any [W] Energy attached to it, this Pokémon
has no Retreat Cost.

[G] Entangling Web
Switch the Defending Pokémon with 1 of your opponent's Benched
Pokémon. Put 1 damage counter on the new Defending Pokémon,
and that Pokémon can't retreat during your opponent's next turn.

Weakness - [R] // Resistance - none // Retreat Cost - [C]

They usually live on ponds, but after an evening shower, they may appear
on puddles in towns.
9/105 (AS) (Common)

Also, feel free to give suggestions if you think a card is underpowered / overpowered, has incorrect wording, or anything like that.

-------------------------------------

Thanks for the comments guys!

I'm not really sure what order I want to do them in so I'm just kinda putting them out as I have ideas. I didn't want to get straight into the Pokemon-EX or Mega Evolutions, so that's why I'm starting small with a few basics for now.

That being said, here's the second one: AS 41/105 Shuppet!

Shuppet 60 HP [P]
Basic Pokémon
353.gif

#353. Puppet Pokémon HT: 2'00", WT: 5.1 lbs.

[C] Sneaky Strike
If the Defending Pokémon retreats during your opponent's next turn, your
opponent flips a coin. If tails, put 4 damage counters on the new Defending
Pokémon.

[P] Fade Away
If Shuppet would be damaged by an attack during your opponent's next turn, you
may flip a coin. If heads, that attack does nothing, and shuffle Shuppet and all
cards attached to it back into your deck.

Weakness - [D] // Resistance - [F] // Retreat Cost - 0

It uses its horn to feed on envy and malice -- or so it's said. It's very active at
night.
41/105 (AS) (Common)

Edit - and accompanying it, our first card from the Omega Ruby set, Dusclops!

Dusclops 110 HP [P]
Stage 1 Pokémon - Evolves from Duskull
356.gif

#356. Beckon Pokémon HT: 5'03", WT: 67.5 lbs.

[Ability] Spirit Stealer
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may discard
1 Pokémon from your hand. If you do, heal 30 damage from
Dusclops.

[P][C][C] Siphon Energy -- 50
Before doing damage, you may move an Energy card attached
to the Defending Pokémon to 1 of your opponent's Benched
Pokémon.

Weakness - [D] // Resistance - [F] // Retreat Cost - [C][C]

Anyone who dares peer into its body to see its spectral ball of
fire will have their spirit stolen away.
38/105 (OR) (Rare Holo)

Edit 2 - And the last one for the night - Torkoal from Omega Ruby!

Torkoal 80 HP [R]
Basic Pokémon
324.gif

#324. Coal Pokémon HT: 1'08", WT: 177.2 lbs.

[C] White Smoke -- 10
Until the end of your opponent's next turn, the Defending Pokémon
has no Abilities.

[R][R][C] Magma Shell -- 30+
You may discard 1 [R] Energy attached to Torkoal. If you do, this
attack does 30 more damage and the Defending Pokémon is now Burned.

Weakness - [W] // Resistance - none // Retreat Cost - [C][C][C]

It burns coal inside its shell for energy. It blows out black soot if it
is endangered.
18/105 (OR) (Common)

Oh my goodness, it's my doge, Torkoal! Based on what you've made already, I bet your other cards are going to be even better! Best of luck!

RE: Hoenn Text Fakes Sets

I have 3 new cards to reveal this morning! Presenting Roselia, Wynaut and Metagross!

Roselia 70 HP [G]
Basic Pokémon
315.gif

#315. Thorn Pokémon HT: 1'0", WT: 4.4 lbs.

[C] Harvest Plant
If Roselia doesn't have a Pokémon Tool attached to it, search
your deck for a Pokémon Tool with Berry in its' name and attach
it to Roselia.

[G][G] Nature's Energy -- 20+
If Roselia has a Pokémon Tool with Berry in its' name attached to
it, this attack does 40 more damage and use the effect of that
Pokémon Tool as the effect of this attack.

Weakness - [R] // Resistance - [W] // Retreat - [C]

Roselia that drink nutritionally rich springwater are said to reveal
rare coloration when they bloom.
10/105 (OR) (Rare)

Wynaut 40 HP [P]
Basic Pokémon
360.gif

#360. Bright Pokémon HT: 2'00", WT: 30.9 lbs.

[Ability] Encore
Once during your turn (before your attack), if Wynaut is your
Active Pokémon, you may choose 1 of the Defending Pokémon's
attacks. That Pokémon can only use that attack during your
opponent's next turn.

[P] Play Tag -- 10
Switch Wynaut with 1 of your Benched Pokémon (if you don't
have any Benched Pokémon, this attack does nothing).

Weakness - [P] // Resistance - none // Retreat - [C]

It tends to move in a pack with others. They cluster in a tight
group to sleep in a cave.
40/105 (OR) (Common)

Metagross 120 HP [M]
Stage 2 Pokémon - Evolves from Metang
376.gif

#376. Iron Leg Pokémon HT: 5'03", WT: 1212.5 lbs.

[Ability] Quad-Brained
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may draw up to 4
cards. Then, for each card you drew, choose a card from your hand
and put it on the bottom of your deck. You can only use one
Quad-Brained Ability each turn.

[M][M][C] Meteor Mash -- 100
Discard the top card of your deck.

Weakness - [R] // Resistance - [G] // Retreat - [C][C][C]

With four linked brains, it's more intelligent than a supercomputer,
and it uses calculations to analyze foes.
55/105 (AS) (Rare Holo)

RE: Hoenn Text Fakes Sets

These are looking really great so far, can't wait to see more! (Btw, you better make Breloom good. After what his card suffered in Furious Fist, he needs a good one.)

RE: Hoenn Text Fakes Sets

Why is Rolesia a rare? Also, why didn't you put Deoxys EX in the Omega Ruby set? It would make each set have 2 EXs and it wouldn't affect any trio, plus one more ultra rare isn't a big deal. Just 1 EX in Omega Ruby is honestly really surprising, however that is my only suggestion for the set ATM is to add Deoxys EX to Omega Ruby.

Keep up the great work, this set is probably the neatest in our new Fake Card Union of sorts. Looking forward to Regirock, Regice, and Registeel EX.

RE: Hoenn Text Fakes Sets

@DevinTheWelf - Thanks :) I have no ideas in mind for Breloom at this time, but I'll try to remember to make it good for you, haha

@Reggie McGigas - I wanted to keep each set equal in size and in the number of commons, uncommons, rares, rare holos, ultra rares, etc. I think I may have gotten a little bit mixed up dividing the commons and uncommons but they're close, and the rares are equal. Simply adding Deoxys-EX to Omega Ruby would give it an extra card and an extra ultra rare. I see where you're coming from, though. It does make sense for each set to have 2 Pokemon-EX. I may take out Mega Medicham for Deoxys-EX (wouldn't affect the set list numbers very much, and Medicham doesn't have any particular connection to Ruby), and then call Mega Medicham the set's prerelease promo or something. Then I can leave it out of the set but still feel like the set is complete. Something to think about anyhow. Thanks for the suggestion.

As for why Roselia is a Rare... I don't know, I guess just for something different, haha. I have ideas in mind to make Berries a playable kind of deck in this format - not entirely sure how I'm going to execute them - but I think that Roselia will end up being a pretty good card, so I thought it was worth a Rare.

Also, I'm going to make a couple of changes to the first post. #1, I'm going to make Masquerain an Uncommon and Tropius a Rare in Alpha Sapphire... this for reasons relating to the aforementioned making Berries playable. #2, a slight addition to the Lv. X rule so that it applies better to Mega Evolutions for this set - I will be keeping that the Pokemon has to be Active and can use the attacks of its' non-Mega stage, but will be adding a caveat that you can only ever have 1 Mega Evolution Pokemon in play at a time (ie. you can't retreat it and Mega Evolve something else while it's still in play).

RE: Hoenn Text Fakes Sets

bowlerdude04 said:
a lot of text
I understand your point, and I agree that it would be cool to showcase your new Mega idea as a prerelease card to preview the new mechanic. In that case, everyone wins because you get your prerelease card done, we have 2 EXs per set, and we still have the same amount of URs/Cards in set.

RE: Hoenn Text Fakes Sets

Update! I would like to present Carvanha (from the Alpha Sapphire set) and Camerupt (from the Omega Ruby set)!

Camerupt 110 HP [R]
Stage 1 Pokémon - Evolves from Numel
323.gif

#323. Eruption Pokémon HT: 6'03", WT: 485.0 lbs.

[R][C] Flare -- 40
Flip a coin. If tails, discard 1 [R] Energy attached to Camerupt.

[R][C][C][C] Magma Earthquake -- 60
The Defending Pokemon is now Burned. Flip a coin for each [F]
Energy attached to Camerupt. This attack does 10 damage times the
number of heads to each Pokémon on each player's Bench (don't apply
Weakness or Resistance for Benched Pokémon).

Weakness - [W] // Resistance - [L] // Retreat - [C][C][C]

The volcanoes on its back have a major eruption every 10 years -- or
whenever it becomes really angry.
17/105 (OR) (Rare)

Carvanha 60 HP [W]
Basic Pokémon
318.gif

#318. Savage Pokémon HT: 2'07", WT: 45.9 lbs.

[W] Gang Up -- 10x
Does 10 damage times the number of Carvanha you have in play.

[W][C] Angry Bite -- 10+
If Carvanha has 4 or more damage counters on it, this attack does 30
more damage.

Weakness - [L] // Resistance - none // Retreat - [C]

They form packs to attack boats and rip out their hulls to sink
them. They live in rivers in the jungle.
21/105 (AS) (Common)

We also have our first two Trainers - although these are basically reprints of existing ones, so it's not that exciting... Mach Bike and Acro Bike!

TRAINER [Item]
Acro Bike

Draw cards until you have 4 cards in your hand.

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your
attack).

72/105 (OR) (Uncommon)

TRAINER [Item]
Mach Bike

Flip a coin. If heads, draw 3 cards.

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your
attack).

81/105 (AS) (Uncommon)

And finally, a set list update: as per a couple of posts earlier in this thread, M-Medicham is now ORAS1, the pre-release promo. Deoxys-EX is no longer a Promo and is now part of Omega Ruby.

RE: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire -- Last Update: Carvanha, Camerupt and Bikes

Hoping again that this double post doesn't break any rules. If it does let me know and I'll fix it.

Anyway, three new cards to reveal tonight! Introducting Wingull, Sharpedo and Shedinja! Wingull is kind of boring. Sorry about that. But it's a Wingull.

Wingull 50 HP [W]
Basic Pokémon
278.gif

#278. Seagull Pokémon HT: 2'00", WT: 20.9 lbs.

[W] Seagull Swarm
Search your deck for as many Wingull as you like and put them on your Bench (you
can't end up with more than 5 Pokémon on your Bench). Shuffle your deck afterward.

[C][C] Wing Attack -- 20

Weakness - [L] // Resistance - [F] // Retreat - 0

Catching sea winds with its long wings, it soars as if it were a glider. It folds
its wings to rest.
19/105 (AS) (Common)

Sharpedo 90 HP [D]
Stage 1 Pokémon - Evolves from Carvanha
319.gif

#319. Brutal Pokémon HT: 5'11", WT: 195.8 lbs.

[Ability] Ambush Hunter
Whenever Sharpedo becomes your Active Pokémon, put 2 damage counters
on 1 of your opponent's Pokémon.

[D][D][C] Killer Instinct -- 40+
If the Defending Pokémon already has any damage counters on it, this
attack does 40 more damage.

Weakness - [L] // Resistance - [P] // Retreat - [C]

Its fangs rip through sheet iron. It swims at 75 mph and is known as
"The Bully of the Sea."
50/105 (AS) (Rare Holo)

Shedinja 10 HP [P]
Restored Pokémon - Put this card onto your Bench only with the effect of Ninjask's
Ability

292.gif

#292. Shed Pokémon HT: 2'07", WT: 2.6 lbs.

[Ability] Wonder Guard
Whenever Shedinja would be damaged by an attack, if Shedinja has any Energy
attached to it, prevent all damage done to Shedinja by that attack (any other
effects of attacks still happen). Then, flip a coin. If tails, discard all Energy
attached to Shedinja.

[C] Shadow Sneak
Choose 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. This attack does 40 damage to that Pokémon.
Apply Weakness and Resistance.

Weakness - [D] // Resistance - [F] // Retreat - 0

A discarded bug shell that came to life. Peering into the crack on its back is said
to steal one's spirit.
30/105 (OR) (Rare)

This one is kind of weird. Restored Pokémon has meant only fossils, but I refuse to have a Shedinja that evolves from Nincada because it doesn't, but it's not a Basic Pokémon, and I didn't want to create a whole new thing for Shedinja. The standard text for Restored Pokemon is "Put this card onto your Bench only with the effect of XXX Fossil" ... I figure this is close enough. So there you go. Also, his attack is super cheap but I feel it's balanced because despite the Ability, it's still pretty easy to kill, plus you have to go through some work to get him into play and it loses Energy half the time you use the Ability anyway.

RE: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire -- NEW! Wingull, Sharpedo and Shedinja

Once again, nice cards. I think you gimmick for Shednija is pretty creative and unique!

Can I PM you spoilers for cards?

RE: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire -- NEW! Wingull, Sharpedo and Shedinja

I love Shedinja's Ability. What a great way to adapt Wonder Guard into the TCG!

RE: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire -- NEW! Wingull, Sharpedo and Shedinja

Thanks guys. Reggie McGigas - I've been thinking of a lot of ideas for these cards, so there aren't really very many that I don't have any idea what I'm going to do for right now. I also kinda want to try to keep the whole set my own ideas for now. I'm not trying to be rude and hopefully it doesn't come off that way. I do appreciate the offer, and if I need help in the future I will definitely let you know.

As for new cards - here we have Spinda, Metang, and two new Stadiums: Littleroot Town and Berry Fields!

Spinda 70 HP [C]
Basic Pokémon
327.gif

#327. Spot Panda Pokémon HT: 3'07", WT: 11.0 lbs.

[Ability] Dizzy Dance
As long as this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon, whenever either
player plays a Trainer card, flip a coin. If tails, that Trainer
card does nothing and shuffle it back into its' owner's deck.

[C][C] Disoriented Punch -- 20+
Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 20 more damage and the
Defending Pokémon is now Confused. If tails, Spinda does 20
damage to itself.

Weakness - [F] // Resistance - none // Retreat - [C]

The chances of two Spinda having identical spot patterns is less
than one in four billion.
69/105 (AS) (Rare)

Metang 90 HP [M]
Stage 1 Pokémon - Evolves from Beldum
375.gif

#375. Iron Claw Pokémon HT: 3'11", WT: 446.4 lbs.

[M] Solid Steel
Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all damage done to Metang during
your opponent's next turn (other effects of attacks still happen).

[M][M][M] Metal Smash -- 40+
If the Defending Pokemon has a lower Retreat Cost than Metang, this attack does 30 more damage.

Weakness - [R] // Resistance - [G] // Retreat - [C][C]

It is formed by two Beldum joining together. Its steel body won't
be scratched if it collides with a jet.

RE: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire -- Stadiums! Spinda and Metang too

No problem, I totally understand if you don't want to use other people's ideas.

I like your concept for the berries, the Berry Fields stadium + Roselia could be playable.

RE: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire -- Stadiums! Spinda and Metang too

I'm hoping it would be playable in my little format here, but hard to say before I put up any of the other cards. There's one more thing coming for the berries but I have to iron out the details a bit first.

So here we have Banette, Beautifly and the Day Care Man!

Banette 90 HP [P]
Stage 1 Pokémon - Evolves from Shuppet
354.gif

#354. Marionette Pokémon HT: 3'07", WT: 27.6 lbs.

[P] Memento
Banette is now Knocked Out. Discard all Energy attached to the Defending Pokémon.

[P][P] Vengeance -- 70
Discard a Supporter card from your hand (if you can't, this attack does nothing).

Weakness - [D] // Resistance - [F] // Retreat - 0

A doll that became a Pokémon over its grudge from being junked. It seeks
the child that disowned it.

Beautifly 110 HP [G]
Stage 2 Pokémon - Evolves from Silcoon
267.gif

#267. Butterfly Pokémon HT: 3'03", WT: 62.6 lbs.

[G] Butterfly Dance
Search your deck for a Basic Energy card and attach it to 1 of your
Benched Pokémon. Shuffle your deck afterward.

[G][G] Silver Wind -- 40
Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all effects of attacks, including damage,
done to Beautifly during your opponent's next turn.

Weakness - [R] // Resistance - [F] // Retreat - [C]

Vibrantly patterned wings are its prominent feature. It sucks sweet
flower nectar with its long mouth.
3/105 (AS) (Rare)

TRAINER [Supporter]
Day Care Man

Search your deck for a Basic Pokémon and a Basic Energy card of the same
type, reveal them, then put the Pokémon on your Bench with the Energy
attached (you can't play this card if your Bench is full). Shuffle your
deck afterward.

You may only play 1 Supporter card per turn (before your attack).

Any cards anyone would like to see next time around?

RE: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire -- Beautifly, Banette, and the Day Care Man

I'd like to see Deoxys EX and one of the members from the Salamance line. And ofc. The Regis EX but I don't think you're doing promos any time soon.

RE: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire -- Beautifly, Banette, and the Day Care Man

Oh god I love this set *A* your ideas seem very creative. So many text fakers are finally appearing, it's great! ^^
