mod lock this or moved to where ever it is suposed to be :3

All of a sudden people from other forums are trying to add me! WTF i <3 pokebeach.

does anyone have the same problems ?

I had one new PM when I got on today, but I seen the account was already banned so I figured there was no use forwarding it.

Well, advertising by PM is also against the rules I think. I honestly can't remember. You could just report it to a mod. WPM's busy most of the time anyways.

You can report them to any mod, not just WPM. I sometimes get these messages their annoying to say the least, I never used to though.

Yeah, advertising through the Private Message system is against the rules, and results in a temporary ban (and if it continues, a permanent one). According to the rules, #12:

The Rules said:
12. Do not advertise
You may not link to any other forum in any thread, at any time, in an attempt at getting people to join. If you have a site you would like others to visit, link to it in your signature. Asking people to visit any site through the PM system is also not allowed. Advertising includes getting people to join your club. Advertising through threads gets you a warning; advertising through PMs gets you temporarily banned.

Also, I think this would best fit in Website Feedback, so I'll move it there.

I had the same thing happen when I logged on this morning. I knew advertising via PM was forbidden, but since it was already banned, I'd guessed that several people had already forwarded it. (Odds are, a bunch of you got the same person.) Thus, now I'm just letting it sit, unless this guy happens to be permabanned (for sending so many out).

I don't get any PMs like that, am I not special enough? D:
You don't get those PMs because you are special enough.

Well actually it depends on more factors IMO. If they have Private Messaging Disabled a Tempban will do nothing and if they make another account they're breaking a bigger rule which results in a Permaban.

Just forward the advertising PMs to a Mod. I've Permabanned the people that I've had of PMs forwarded.

Why is it against the rules to ask someone to join another forum that you frequent? What is so bad about it and the fact that you found it and you would like others to know also. What is the point in having a rule for that and if the member likes the site is is your choice. All you have to say is Thanks for the offer or I will check it out sometime to see if I like it and go on with what you were doing. Now if they ask repetitivly then I can see why there would be a rule. I think the member should be allowed to ask 1 time and after that if they ask again then to report. I don't see why it is a bad thing and ALL forums I go to also have the same rule but I don't see much point to the rule. Asking one time should be allowed and if they keep asking then to have a rule for more than once to ask. Other than that I don't see a reason to not allow members to ask if they want to join. It helps members in a way because some forums are more active than others and if someone finds a good forum I wuld check it out to see how it is. I don't know why anyone would find that annoying.:)

It's mostly because we don't really want our members going to other forums. If people want to advertise their forums, they are completely welcomed to in their signatures, instead of PMing a person. It's annoying because a lot of times people just don't want to join another forum. If someone is advertising the forum in their signature then they'll get even more publicity than they would by PMing one person at a time because everyone can see it then.

ANYWAY, just forward any PMs you get to moderators, and everything should be good.

I don't see the point of a rule but ok. I guess. That just never bothers me so I always look into it and if I get more than one PM of it then I handle it. Once is enough.:)

Advertising has been a huge rule on this site from the very beginning. There's no point in PMing everyone when you can just have it in your signature and it's not bothering anybody. The same goes for an advertising thread as well.

What if you have no room in your signature then what are we supposed to do? I don't see why it can't be used as a last resort if there is no room in the signature. No one will want to change their signaure just for a link. The PM system is much easier than posting in a signature that has very little room anyway. Bad idea to have it only to signatures. You should be allowed to PM a member 1 time and after that then report it if it is more than one PM of asking over and over. In my mind I see it pointless for just to have it restricted to the signature only. Post on the site I can see but just to have it to signatures only is pointless.:)

If it's so important to you, you'd have it in your signature by making room.

That would be hard for me as I like mine the way it is. Some members don't have the links in their signatures because they simply don't have enough room to add them. That is all I am saying so I don't see anything wrong with using the PM system unless some sends the link more than 1 time. Other than that I don't see a point. That is all I am saying. Can't you guys make the rule to allow only a 1 time per member and after that then to report it? I can see doing that but only allowing the signature is pointless. I just can't see anyone just using their signature anyway. If members are using it to send link then just change it so it allows only 1 time and after that to report it. That is just how I see it anyway.:)

You can always resize your banner to fit in a link to a forum. You can also just have the banner link to a site.
