Doesn't Owl City rock, I remember when he was not as popular then Fireflies came out and he became super popular, even though personally I think that Fireflies is his worst song.

Here is my top 5 fav songs (you can do this too :))
1. Umbrella Beach
2. Early Birdie
3. Strawberry Avalanche
4. West Coast Friendship
5. Swimming in Miami

:D

RE: Owl City!

Fireflies is a good song, until it was overplayed on the radio.

Other favourites of mine are Hot Air Balloon, Hello Seattle, and Vanilla Twilight.

RE: Owl City!

Fireflies <3 Beautiful song, and yeah Owl City is good. Their songs just give a peaceful feeling.

Fireflies is great. I love the soft, gentle music, and his vocals are so unique. I love the lyrics too, because they don't really mean anything, and they're very innocent. Owl City will never die!

Oh, and I love all of his songs, fireflies being my favorite.

RE: Owl City!

I'm sorry, I can't stand Owl City. "Meh, moody, lame, lyrics that try to be interesting and fail, complimented by a hideously auto-tuned voice." Owl City in a nutshell.

RE: Owl City!

Owl City's all right. I'm actually listening to Strawberry Avalanche right now. Fireflies is okay, but it's kind of sickening because it was played soooooo much. :/

Other than the aforementioned two songs and Umbrella Beach, however, I haven't found a song I like (yes, I've listened to them).

RE: Owl City!

Owl City grows on you. I like Fireflies and Umbrella Beach mainly. Although the radio really overplayed it. I think there a natural nice band. Most bands today are either crasp, or have no real meaning in there songs.

RE: Owl City!

Oh god, no. Fireflies didn't even make sense. To me it just seems like he threw a bunch of random sentences together and said "That'll do."

RE: Owl City!

Vanilla Twilight is soo much better than Fireflies IMO. Their music is alright, but nothing really special.

dmaster out.

RE: Owl City!

His music is well-produced and uses sounds that go against the grain for today's style of pop; but I can't really say I'm a fan. I enjoyed the first 8 seconds of Fireflies, if that means anything, lol

If you look at his (Adam Young's) other work, I would say I like his other projects as much or maybe more than Owl City. Also, Owl City has/had been under a lot of scrutiny because of their apparent similarities with the band The Postal Service, which was very popular in (I think it was) 2004. I suggest looking them up, as well.
I find that Owl City can get a little old. It has it's gems, and in my opinion, Fireflies isn't one of them. The lyrics aren't supposed to make sense, it's supposed to describe "fantasies". Almost a "trippy" feeling, if you want to call it that.

Then leave. We don't need you're negativity. You too, Blasting Blastoise.

Vanilla Twilight is great. I just love the quark in his voice that makes him so cool to listen too. I must admit though, Fireflies was over-played.

RE: Owl City!

I had to do a project on Fireflies by Owl City. Vanilla Twilight was also a good song.

No, wrong sir. That is not okay.

This is a thread for people to discuss Owl City, whether they approve of it or not. Be tolerant of others' opinions.

So flaming is okay? Because that's all they've done. If you posted an entire thread about how you love Pokemon, and I came in a said: "Pokemon sucks. It's a kids game." Would you be happy? Or would you tell me to leave? Because that's the same thing here.

If yopu want to create a thread against Owl City, then do that. Don't make me feel bad about liking a certain type of music.

I thought I would hate Owl City until my friends had me listen to some songs. I think people like it because it just sounds...beautiful, I think. The singer's voice is really relaxing to listen too.

Actually, I could understand the lyrics pretty clearly. Its a song about a guy who has a certain desease that doesn't let him sleep.
