For my next laptop, I would like a Macbook. When I was younger, we used to have "Computer Class." We used to use Macs. Back then, I didn't care about graphic design or web design. Heck, I didn't even know you could design websites or make graphics! I despised all Macs - and loved Windows. That was very foolish of me.

Now, I know that I would like a Macbook. Macbooks are not as popular as Windows laptops, so they are not targeted as often for viruses. Thus, there is no need to install half of the programs on this laptop I am using now! (Virus protection.) Macbooks also can use the IMs I like to use. (Windows Messenger and AIM.) But even better, they're great for web design and graphic design, which I am now taking an interest in. The user interface is nice, too..

Well, I was exaggerating, of course. However, our computer has serious problems, but whenever we take it to a techy, he says "Nothing wrong". Macs are easier to use.

Bam, the "extra 500" is well worth it. You'll be spending $50 on antivirus software, and you get iLife with every Mac. I got a Mac because of the interface, mainly. I love the way it works.

By the way, there are many great free anti-virus programs.

If you want a Mac buy a Mac. I don't like Apple's corporate philosophy, so I will stay with a pc. Mac has advantages, pc has advantages. The main point is which of those advantages is best for you.

Yeah, I agree about the advantages part, I wouldn't say either of them are horrible.

PC's have a larger variety of software, and it won't crash if you protect it properly.

There are plenty of ways to run programs for Windows, or even emulate Windows itself on your mac, essentially making the mac library bigger, albeit it being harder to achieve this. Then again, protection is not an issue on mac, so this all balances out some weird way. Which means that you have to start looking at stuff like user-friendliness, speed, design, and so on. Mac in my opinion wins in most of these categories easily. It's just a better Operating System, which has always been ahead of its time, and still is, this became more and more evident considering how much of a blatant rip-off Vista turned out to be.

Have you ever even used a Mac? It's smooth, elegant, fast, efficient, well-organized, everything. It'd be rather narrow-minded to say that PC wins when most of the newer additions to Vista are just subpar copies of stuff Mac has had for ages.

Screw Macs, it made my Photoshop crash twice, and it hasn't crashed once on my PC.

/me pushes Mac down a hole...

That may not be the OS, it could be the amount of RAM.

Still, Macs have pretty much all that PC's have, except for all the software. And like Spoon said, you can emulate Windows programs, or even the OS itself on Mac.

PC for the Win. I mean, yeah, if you don't protect your computer, or go on bad websites or download random things, your computer will crash, but thats why you have to be smart! I do like iLife from Macs, but software isn't worth rediculously priced computers. For example, you want to edit photos and videos. You could be like, "I love iPhoto and iMovie!" But, I buy photoshop and adobe premier for around 100 dollars. You would be paying around 500 more for a mac. I have an AMAZING Labtop (which is a PC) and its worked perfectly for me. Great for games, great for software, fast procesor, amazing. PC all the way!

And also, to the people who watch the Mac commercials. Bashing the competition doesn't really prove anything =\

Wait, you got Photoshop for 100 dollars! Where'd you get that!?! They usually go for 200. Also, have you seen Microsoft's latest ads? Yeah, that's not bashing competition at all. The Mac and PC just shows Macs greatest features, and compares them to a PC's. I can speak from experience that these commercials stick to the facts.

Actually, OS X just copies stuff that has been in linux for years, but if that's the way you want to think, then go ahead.

What bugs me most about macs is how they describe everything as the best thing on the market and price it accordingly. For instance: the AMD Radeon HD 4870. I have one, and while it is very good, it is not the "ultimate choice" for anything. It's a high-mid range card that's been out for months. Also, Apple expect you to pay $350 for something that costs less than $150.

I laugh at how some of the people here say they hate macs, but have never used them before. I've been without my Macbook for a week now, and it's killing me. A defect in the screen came up after having it for 2 years, but fortunately my warranty takes care of everything. But using a PC for the last week has driven me nuts!

Tell me about it!
Whenever I have to use a PC at school, I go insane, and I only moved to macs not too long ago (and I already had this after only like 2 weeks of using it)...
Everything's just so smooth and natural...

That might actually be the biggest disadvantage, high increase of blood pressure when having to us a PC again...

I'm buying a Macbook Pro at the end of summer once I have enough money. I've started a savings account and am basically putting all my money from one job into it (my new job that pays way more, as I'm used to merely getting by on the money I make from my other job). I plan on upsizing the amount of RAM and the size of the hard drive.
