PETA's New Campaign: 'Autism Is Caused By Milk'.

I didn't really read all of it, just quickly skimmed over it. :p That was only one of the websites I saw that mentioned how unhealthy milk was, however. There are many other websites that say milk comes with a lot of bad side effects. I don't know if it's true and I never noticed any of the downsides myself.

http://goaskalice.columbia.edu/milk-bad-or-good (pros and cons)
There's even this: http://www.notmilk.com/

Obviously you shouldn't just believe anything you read on the Internet, but I do think some of the mentioned things on all those sites make sense. I'm sure milk comes with its own pros and cons and that PETA and some others are making it sound worse than it is.

Honestly they can just say that everything is bad for you, and in the end you can't eat anything and you starve. I'm not even kidding you. Just eat what you eat, if everything feels alright, it's alright. You even live in the EU, the food regulations here are usually even stricter than in the USA etc. If some normal "food" is actually harmful, you won't find it in the supermarket. (Obviously I'm not including different drugs like alcohol etc.)

Heh, I was going to point all that out, but I thought "no, the guys will figure it out, no problem.", and here it is!

But yes; overall, the guy is correct about the milk. He's batshit crazy nonetheless.
He's like PETA. He's the PETA of milk.

But shame on you all for giving PETA more publicity, don't you see you're only playing into their hands?

The thing about PETA is that they can just say whatever bullshit they want*, and so many people would believe it, and more people will make up bullshit to support it**, and then, lots of people (even people who hate PETA like yous guys), will find REAL facts to support them***.

Don't need to spend millions of dollars on ridiculous studies to figure this one out. Cow's mother's milk is meant for baby cows NOT humans. Humans are the only animal ever to steal the mother's milk from another animal, let alone as adults!!! I always refused to drink my milk from about age 7 or 8 and haven't ingested any dairy for the past few years. WOW! my health has improved immensely and I didn't even know I needed it to. My brother, on the other hand always guzzled milk as a child and still does as an adult. He is Schizophrenic.

Based on what I have seen so far the title of this thread is extremely misleading ("PETA's New Campaign: 'Autism is caused by milk'."). That PETA banner says that studies "have found a link between autism and milk". It doesn't say in any way that autism is caused by milk. According to what I have seen here there indeed is a link between milk and autism, just as there is a link between lactose intolerance and milk.

Apparently milk can make (because of something it contains) the symptons of autism worse for those who have it - or at least for some of the people who have it - almost just like a person who doesn't tolerate lactose gets symptoms when drinking normal milk.

Also, glutene is apparently "the same". Of course PETA keeps silent about that, because glutene is contained in vegetarian stuff... whoops! :9

But still, they just seem to be telling people who have autism to try to avoid milk because it might help them.

I don't really see why anyone should be offended by that.

You're mistaking correlation with causation, it happens a lot of time on these subjects; a link is just two correlating spikes in two correlating statistics. I could do that with anything. "Buying design furniture causes success", "Rich people have more mental ilnesses than poor people". See? That's PETA (And others)'s main tool when pulling this bullshit; they get people to mistake the two.

Autism is on the rise because we've become more adept at diagnosing it. Period. That's all you need to know; no conspiracies, no "big pharma and vaccines", no milk. Diagnostics. From that standpont it's a good thing, because people now get the treatment they need instead of the bullshit they don't.
And campaigns like these promote misinformation, that's why people are offended, and that's what PETA is counting on, outrage.. "So, you have autism? what? mama gave you too much milk?".
Same thing with vaccines; people don't get them because of a "link" (see: bullshit, up there), they compromise herd immunity, next thing you know, kids die of god damn measles.

Did you actually read my post carefully, because it seems like you didn't.

They implied it here: http://www.peta.org/features/got-autism-learn-link-dairy-products-disease/

The reason why dairy foods may worsen or even cause autism is being debated.

Thanks for the link, I have been annoyed by the fact that it was not included in the opening post. That paragraph is ridiculous and offending for sure, but otherwise they seem to have a case. They definitely should not have included wild speculation like that and should have sticked to what can be generally accepted. Also, that last paragraph... yeah. Cut that too. It's absolutely horrible. PETA is horrible.

PETA needs to learn a lot about PR if they want to get people to support their causes...

professorlight: ... ... ... Anyway... you don't seem to understand that I said that milk definitely does not cause autism.
