Ruling Phione MD a rare candy?

Hey i have a quick Q. Do you think that phione's evolution wish can make piplup go to empoleon because on the card it says evolves from that pokemon, and piplup does eventually evolve into empoleon. I think you cannot do this, but i am checking

Seeing as Empoleon evolves from Prinplup, and Prinplup is obviously not Piplup, I doubt you can do that.

Although Piplup does EVENTUALLY evolve into Empo., it evolves in Prinplup first.

So w/ Phione, you can only evolve Piplup into Prinplup, seeing as on Prinplups card, it says "Evolves from Piplup". It doesn't say that on Empoleon.

No. Compare the two cards:

Evolution Wish
Search your deck for a card that evolves from 1 of your Pokemon and put it onto that Pokemon.

Rare Candy
Choose 1 of your Basic Pokemon in play. If you have a Stage 1 or Stage 2 card that evolves from that Pokemon in your hand, put that card on the Basic Pokemon.

Phione doesn't let you skip a stage.

The first time I saw a Rare Candy I thought it let you put a Stage 1 on a Basic and a Stage 2 on a Stage 1. Was I wrong!
