Pikachu's level

Has anyone ever noticed that pikachu always is at a "different level" when a new season starts? It's like he drops 20 levels or something because he sometimes looses against the beginning gym leaders right after he does well in the Championships?? I hope that makes sense.

well he:

wins at almost every battle
is very happy/interactive with humans
has been for about '500' days with an average of 2-3 battles per 'day'

so im thinking at least level 55 - 75

The worst thing is that Pikachu beat a Regice (Brandon's after it used Rest two or three times) but could only tie agiansta simple Elekid (which judging by Paul's pokemon isn't at a very high level).

I know.....it's ridiculus. Pikachu should just destroy all his opponents. He is probably on somewhere around 80.

Well he can only of course be level 128 like our good old friend Missingno! I mean look, it OHKO's a Steelix, OHKO's all 3 of the Mauville Gym's Pokemon, Has Lunch, and gets POONED by a Caterpie! (ZOMG!)

But, on a more serious note...Pikachu is just supposed to take everyone's eyes off the rest of the show, so that they can make massive loopholes and noone will care/worry/notice

I think it goes up every season because Pikachu gets new attacks and if you go by the time when Pikachu gets a new attack but I am not sure what level he gets volt tackle in the games but if you check the level next to an attack then Pikachu is at about that level For example when Pikachu first learned thunder a couple of years or so ago he was around level 41 but now that he has Volt tackle I think he is around level 60-65 or so.:)

It is an egg move. Pikachu is as Dragon Rider Of PokeBeach said droping levels he beats strong pokemon loses to an Elekid beats Regice and loses to Pauls Elekid and "learns" an egg move, it's not possible.

Wait a minute. How can Pikachu drop levels if a Pokemon's level can only go up? I think there is a flaw with that one. Pokemon levels can only go up in the games but I guess in the anime world it is diffrent but that is odd how Pikachu drops levels. I think the director has Ash use wrong moves at the wrong time like in the 3rd episode of Diamond and Pearl. For example Ash used his Pikachu against Pauls Pokemon and he used electric attacks on Elekid which does not makes sense but on earlier episodes of Pokemon he used the right moves and Pokemon most of the time. The question I can't figure out is What Happened to Ash and Pikachu when VA's Had to change? Ash used to be really good and he still is but he is not as good as he used to be. Ash needs to use the right Pokemon and attacks on the show and we don't see that often but he needs to fix his team so he is ready to battle. Also the stuggle with the frontier brains brandon and Anabel he lost 3 times to brandon because he did not use the right attacks and he Lost to Anabel 1 time because he did not have the right pokemon. I know he loves his Pikachu but the rest of his team is not strong except for Sceptile he is strong but his other Pokemon need to be stronger.:)

I thought volt tacle was an egg move! o_O

Pikachu can learn the attack if you breed it in a breeding center by giving it a light ball and Pichu will learn the attack once the egg is hatched I think. Note I have not tried it because I don't have Pokemon Emerald Version.:)

Maybe Pikachu already had Volt Tackle and Ash only used it the Past Days (Or something)

what I meant is that when they battle a gym leader who (in the games) has level 12 pokemon pikachu sometimes ends up losing

Actually, those are mostly like, atleast 30 in anime.

I wonder if they have levels in the anime then.

I mean, taking Roxanne as an example, no one would train such a high-level Geodude.

Well, in my opinion, Pokemon is not like the games, in almost every way. Pokemon from the Anime has no level, they just train like normal and have no specific level. Take a sport for example: A person can train and play a lot of football, but will he have a level. I doubt it. An approximate level yes, but not a specific level. If that person fails to give quality in football, his level does decrease. In the games, a Pokemon doesn't get its level reduced.

Just my 2 cents.

yeah i agree. Pokemon is different from the ones in the games. Pokemon in the anime can use more than just four attacks, but in the game, pokemon can only remeber up to 4.
I think that there are "levels" in the anime. Brock sometimes say things about leveling up pokemon for it to learn an attack it cant use properly or sumtin ( like from the Natu episode: some kid's Natu cant use Future Sight well so Ash decided to battle it for Natu to level up.
And another earlier episode where they met up with this girl who has a Paras and wanted it to become Parasect. Ash decided to battle it and to lose purposely to make Paras level up and eventually evolve )
But i really think these "levels" are intended not to affect evolution of Pokemon. Like Ash's Charmeleon...it evolved into Charizard too early and besides, Charmeleon just evolved.

Even if they HAVE a level, would a trainer know what the Pokemons' level is? No. So, I proclaim Anime to not have a level. =]

They do have lvls in the anime. In an early battle frontier episode, or late advance battle, team rocket tricked a onix into thinking ash and co were bad guys. In the middle, he didn't know who to believe so he wanted to battle. Brock said"be careful, Ash, this is a high level onix your going up against." therefore, their are lvls in the anime.
