Plasma Blast CATCHER RE-PRINT

Yay! There's a Catcher reprint! This will mean a decrease in price of Catcher!
Boo! There's a Catcher reprint! That means we'll have to deal with it for 2 more years!

...on top of which I think we all have a playset of Catchers already...

My girlfriend and I only have two each :(

Well, ladies and gentlemen, that was bound to happen.

I hope this doesn't drive the prices of packs up. Remember when Emerging Powers came out? At my local Walmart, that set began a trend of $4.19 packs instead of $3.99 like it was before - and I'm sure Catcher was one of the reasons.

I'm just glad 1) most people have their playset of Catchers already, and 2) Buy a box and you're bound to get at least a few.

This is both good and bad news at the same time. My friend just informed me Catcher was getting reprinted but I wasn't expecting it in this newest set until he specified and then I saw the video. It's disappointing to know that this card is going to be around in the upcomming format(s) but at the same time the card is more expensive than I think anyone wants it to be. Not only that, but with the upcomming fall EX tins we're getting I can tell you right now that this is a great time to start playing for anybody interested to jump into the tournament scene.

Catcher needs to stay. Kudos to Pokemon for finally reprinting such an expensive uncommon.

If only they reprinted Tropical Beach in Plasma Blast this format would be far less expensive than it already is, it's ridiculous that players who never got an invite to Worlds in the last 2 years still need to shell out $100+ a pop to run 2-3 copies of it in every deck especially for decks that require it for consistency issues such as Blastoise/Keldeo. Windstorm back in the day also used to be a staple in alot of decks in the Pokemon TCG but was never reprinted in a booster set expansion, sadly the same goes for Tropical Beach as well. A missed opportunity by TPCi gone to waste and that doesn't even make up for the horrible rotation for the 2013-2014 Modified Season either.

To be honest, I personally believe they'll be just as shortprinted as they were for EPO, so on average one in three people will have but a single Catcher.

Doesn't really matter that much. The fact that it will be around for another whole year is more disappointing.

dmaster out.

No it's not. I'm happy Catcher stays. Gives penalties for running cowardly Stage 2s that just do nothing but park their ass on the bench while giving some broken effect.

Reprint... Tropical beach... New set... HAHHAAHHAHAAAA

Honestly, this should be good I need one more catcher to get my playset.

But you have a playset between the two of you! How romantic! <3

...though seriously I get where you're coming from. One of the guys at our league only runs 2 Catcher, and I know a few guys who have 0 because they can't afford them. Hopefully Catcher will not be a short-print like it was before.

Im actually pretty happy that they remade Pokémon Catcher, because I only have 4 Catchers and I would love to have 2 sets to put in my sisters deck :)

Yeah but it still would've been nice for Tropical Beach to get reprinted in Plasma Blast just like with Catcher so that players who are on a budget can afford playing decks that need the kind of drawing consistency that Tropical Beach provides. Decks like Weavile/Exeggcute/Darkrai EX, Flareon/Cofagrigus/Audino, and even Blastoise/Keldeo work incredibly well with Tropical Beach, the $100 price tag is really unfair to build those kind of decks unless you were lucky enough to get some Tropical Beaches through trades or by going to Worlds in the last 2 years.

I completely agree with the whole Tropical Beach thing. But I do not think they should be 'reprinted' (Shouldn't it be printed since they are not in any 'sets''?)
They are strictly there as a reward for people playing at worlds. I think it should stay that way, or also be given out at Nats or Regions to help drop the price. Just my thoughts.

I like how people overrepresent how rare Pokemon Catcher is... And if I remember correctly, Catcher was more common than Max Potion. And either way, the difference isn't massive. People just don't like buying Emerging Powers because it's an otherwise mediocre set and everyone needs Catcher, and so sellers realized these facts and sold them to sucke... players for a massively overinflated price.

The pack costs went up because Emerging Powers was the first set to include PTCGO code cards. It had not a thing to do with Catcher.

Because Catcher's demand is higher? You can win a tourney with 0 Max Potion but you'd end up flat in your face with a deck with less than three Catcher.

And I'll clarify: in my Emerging Powers box, I pulled 3 Catcher (about average) and 6 Max Potion (slighlty above average). I'm not sure about everyone else's boxes; one friend at League pulled only 2 Catcher and 4 Max Potion.

Hopefully the ratios will be better in Plasma Blast. Maybe a guarantee of 3 in a box? That would be nice.

And Frost, thanks for the clarification.

I think the price of tropical beach is just fine. IMO it shows whos committed and who isn't. I had to work hard to pay for my 3 copies, and the "luxury" of getting one at worlds is far FAR more expensive than a single copy of it. Beach is a good card, required in some decks, but aren't the end all be all. Playing a card game costs money, thats just the way it is. Quality costs money. If you want to be competitive, pay for the cards you need. Im not at all against a catcher reprint, but it always bothered me when people would complain about the price of catchers, because the only people that complain are the people that dont have them! I understand the frustration with beach, but I don't think its valid. Be grateful this isn't magic or Yugioh where cards pulled from packs cost 100+ dollars. Be grateful that TPCi doesn't print playable cards as secret rares only very often (ray shiny was an exception). He'll the tins in the last year and a half have made this game phenomenally accessible. Beach is one of those cards that just isn't gonna come easy. And thats the way it should be. Competing in worlds in worthy of a Prestigious card that is playable, not some junk card thats worth 30 bucks to collectors. Have some respect for the people that did earn theirs because everyone complaining didn't. You gotta earn it some other way. I did, and that way was the 125+ price tag on the card

Seriously... They actually did it... The Bagon and Shelgon are going to be exact reprints of the ones in Dragon Selection... That's what I was afraid... But what was I thinking? It's TPCi after all...

I don't see how I can be grateful to not afford playing the TCG. That's why I only play online.

I think It's precisely because this is a card GAME that it shouldn't cost that much to get specific cards, even if they're good in terms of playability... I think it's absurd the price they put on ultra/secret rare cards... Like, Charizard ex for example... Maybe it's not the best example since it wasn't a playable card and it's charizard, so it's obvious the card is expensive but as much as I like the card (and the pokémon), I wouldn't pay 150-200$ for it... I got mine for 25€ from a guy...
