Ruling Poison damage

Hi guys!

I now wonder, how many damage in total can Pokémon receive from Poison.

The maximum, it probably can take between turns turned out to be 100, if you have this combination of cards in play (the Weezing ×4, of course).

But what I want to ask, is this:
If 1 player has for example this Crobat, this Crobat, this Crobat, this Beedrill, or whatever another card, that multiplies the base damage from poison, and this Weezing comes into whatever player's active position, is the extra damage reduced in all cases back to ten, or does it mean, it takes ten more damege? (Because, if I read it correctly, on the Weezing isn't written, you does 10 more damage, it only reads, the posioned Pokémon receive 10 damage…)

Yeah, and by the way, is there any difference between wording “put 2 damage counters on Pokémon X” and “this Pokémon does 20 damage to itself”, when in both cases, the attacking Pokémon refers to itself? (Because, when the Pokémon is weak to itself or resistant to itself, I understand, that the different wording may refer to apply or not apply those effects, doesn't it?)

Thanks for answers ;-)

When increasing poison damage with Weezing:
It adds 1 more damage counter to what it already is. So for example, if the Defending Pokemon was Poisoned by Ultra-Toxic Fang (and was not later Poisoned by another source), and Dark Weezing is active, that Pokemon would have 5 damage counters placed on it between turns. (Poison is not damage.) Virbank City Gym is the same - it adds 2 more to what it already is.

And yes, as far as I know, the max for Poison is 10 damage counters between turns, with that very combo.

Is there a difference between a Pokemon 'doing damage to itself' and 'placing damage counters on itself'?
Yes. With damage, even self-damage, you must always apply Weakness and Resistance. So, for example, if a Mew-EX were to use Zekrom's Bolt Strike, it does 80 damage to itself. And of course there are things that apply differently - damage counters is an effect of an attack, so it's not blocked by stuff such as Eviolite and the like, but it is blocked by stuff like Espeon DEX.

I've recognized, that you can dela in total 110 damage from poison. There it is, and very clear. Although, you may have at maximum 4 of the same named card in 1 deck, Dark Weezing is another name than Weezing. So if you can get somehow that Dark Weezing into 2-on-2 battle to active position, then you can add very last extra 10 damage, so, in total, the poisoned Pokémon will receive 110 damage from poison.
That's unbelievable.

Oh, and by the way, is it still playable? I mean, 2-on-2 battle? In the newest rulebooks, after Ex sersies ended, there are no more written about those systems of battling, so I wonder, if it is still possible.

Double Battle is a fun method of play, in which each player has 2 Active and 4 Benched Pokemon. I forget if you get 1 attack per turn or 2, but I know it's mentioned in the Compendium and some older rulebooks. Attacks that have the phrase "each Defending Pokemon" would affect both.

It is not an officially sanctioned tournament format, however, but it's good to play for fun.
