PokéDex X & Y - The Unofficial PokéDex

I decided to set myself up a project in order to practice CSS/HTML/JAVA while learning how I can implement graphics into a website application. The programming and graphics aren't a lot to show off as of yet, but as I'm learning, I'm building it up more and more.

Check it out here: PokéDex X & Y

So yeah, hope there is enough there to justify a thread! Let me know what you think - pointers would be brilliant. I am new to web design pretty much, but it's good fun!

RE: PokeDex X & Y - Small Graphics Project

I like it! Very easy on the eyes. My only complaint is that Clauncher is oddly placed and seems too far to the right. Otherwise though, very nice.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you like it. :) I've literally just come up with a (almost flawless) solution to that. xD The only problem now is that it has shifted Talonflame too much to the left... Aha!

RE: PokeDex X & Y - Small Graphics Project

Actually it shifted a lot of them to the left o_O
Is there a lot of blank space in Clauncher's picture maybe? That's what seems like would be causing the issue; you could just crop that space off in GIMP or something if it's the case.

Nah, I accidentally deleted the code that kept them in the center! The pictures are cropped perfectly, there's no spare space! :) Try refresh, should be fine now!

Oh, yup. Now it looks fine. What sort of other information are you planning to add to this, if anything?

Excellent! As of yet, I haven't decided. I'm not going to go into loads of detail (like attack lists etc.) because it would just mean a lot of typing up information. I think I will work on keeping it simple; more of a quick resource for the new Pokemon pre-release of X & Y rather than a hardcore hub for information.

I'll see how things go, if people use it a lot and want more, I may just go ahead! :)

RE: PokeDex X & Y - Small Graphics Project

Moved over to Fake Creations because it's a better fit. Try to keep the thread about the fake Pokedex ;]

Looks pretty basic but looks nice and sharp. Then again I know nothing about website design.

Looks pretty basic but isn't hard on the eyes or anything. Then again I know nothing about website design.

Thanks! I had trouble finding a forum for it. xD

Cheers for the feedback. :)

RE: PokeDex X & Y - Small Graphics Project

Looks good, but I would rather not put the pokemon that are not confirmed by nintendo.

Hmm, you could have a point there. It does make it look neater if I removed those at least. Thanks!

EDIT: Done.

Aww, you beat me to it. :] Anyways, I like it. It is very easy on the eyes, like Frezgle said. I find the scrolling a little awkward, but I can't think of an idea to fix it. A smaller picture of Clauncher would look nicer too. Good job!

Ahh, you should make one too! :D Cheers! Okay, I can look into that - I have some ideas of what I'd like to implement regarding scrolling but I'll have to see whether it's possible. :)

Unfortunately, to save time, all the pictures are automatically sized using one universal bit of code so that would mean giving Clauncher it's own resizing thing which would get complicated... Thanks for the feedback anyways!

Looks awesome, might wanna play a little php or AJAX and mysql so you dont have that much problems with the typing thing, you could add yourself a small and clean admin sort of feature to add pictures, name and all the information. At least that's what I would do, keep it up :)

Right, there has been a whole bunch of updates, the most recent of which allows you to change to scenario the Pokémon are in! Check it out, let me know what you think. :)

I suggest making the description aligned to justify, but otherwise I have no improvements.
