Chapter 14: Bed and Breakfast at team Galaxy base

The next morning I woke at 7.30am. That meant I still had thirty minutes left to get into the hall… Thomas and I would rendezvous on our meeting spot, as we had decided last night in the messages we send to each other. I wondered if Shannon would be there as well… I was still breaking my mind over what I had witnessed last night in the hall… Was it perhaps a dream? There could be no way a person could just vanish into the wall as if the wall wasn’t there… Or the person… But that wouldn’t explain that Shannon actually had that serum with her… I looked at my watch, and saw it suddenly already was 7.50am! I had to hurry!

’’Morning.’’ Matthew said as he saw I had awakened.
’’Don’t we have to hurry?! The meeting in the hall is within 10 minutes!’’
’’I know, and I’m fully ready, I’m just waiting for you.’’
’’Curses, I better hurry up then!’’

I jumped out of my bed, and while I was putting my pants on Matthew started to unpack a cardboard box which was on his desk. I saw he was getting four pokéballs from the box, and he attached them to his waist.

’’What are those?’’ I asked.
’’They’re my remaining pokémon. They arrived this morning, along with the rest of my stuff.’’
’’Ah, I see. What are your other pokémon then?’’
’’Haha, you’ll see when we both enter Team Galaxy after the recruitment survey!’’
’’Fine, fine… As for now, I finished dressing, so shall we go?’’
’’Ready when you are.’’

Both Matthew and I exited our room, and we ran towards the meeting hall, since it was already 7.58am, and we had 2 minutes left. While running I noticed the hall where I had seen Shannon the previous night with that Jason figure… Strangely there was no trace of the meeting last night, not even a scratch on the wall Jason had walked trough… I doubt his real name was Jason tough; it could as well be a code name…

’’Dude, what are you thinking off?’’ Matthew said all of a sudden.
’’Ah, nothing important, really.’’’
’’Well, for some reason I don’t believe you…’’
’’And why’s that?’’
’’You’re not wearing shoes…’’
’’Curses! Well, you go ahead, I’ll just return to the room to get my shoes…’’
’’Don’t worry; I brought your shoes with me as soon as you left without them.’’
’’Thanks… I really mean it. I don’t want to get too late.’’
’’It’s cool, you can put them on in the hall. But now please tell me, what’s on your mind?’’
’’Well, nothing big really, it’s just this whole recruitment survey thing…’’
’’I see what you mean, but let’s just keep our heads focussed anyways!’’
’’Yeah, let’s do that!’’

We then came running in the hall, and at exactly that moment the clock sounded 8 o’clock. The doors behind us closed tight, meaning anyone who was actually late didn’t have a chance to get in… In others words, we made it just in time… As I finished to put my shoes on, the speakers turned on.

’’Good morning, all participants. I hope you all had a good night, and that you’re all ready to go on today! However, first off you’ll all get breakfast. Report to the desk, so we can immediately see who’s present and who isn’t. At the same time you’ll receive a voucher which you can use to get your breakfast. We will continue the recruitment survey at 9 o’clock am. That is all for now.’’

The speakers turned off, and everyone inside the hall moved towards the desk. There was some confusion tough, as we didn’t know where to show the voucher anyways… But at that moment my hearth stopped beating for a second… I recognised that purple hair from everywhere… I could see Shannon walk towards the desk, and Thomas was with her. I was having mixed feelings, since I didn’t want to tell Thomas about what I saw last night before I had some idea of what it meant, but at the same time I wanted Thomas to be careful while around Shannon…

’’Ah, now I see what’s in your mind…!’’ Matthew said all of a sudden.
’’W-what do you mean…?’’
’’Oh, come on, don’t be shy about it! I can see the way you look at that girl…!’’
’’N-no… it’s not like that… It’s just like…’’
’’Oh come on, don’t deny it. You’re simply baffled by just looking at her.’’
’’Well, it’s not what you think it is, you see, it’s-‘’
’’Stop fooling around Brian! Should I go and ask her name for you?’’
’’No, it’s not like that… Her name’s Shannon, and the guy left of her is my friend, Thomas.’’
’’Ah, I feel sorry for you… Your own friend taking the girl you want…’’
’’Ugh, you’re hopeless Matthew… Like I said I don’t like her… Now let’s just go, I’m hungry.’’
’’Okay, okay, I get it Brian…’’
’’And besides, it’s not like Thomas and Shannon have some stuff going on… I guess…’’
’’Whatever you say mate…’’
’’Let’s just forget that this conversation ever happened…’’
’’Yeah, let’s go to the desk.’’

Matthew and I walked towards the desk, and as soon as we received our vouchers I looked for Shannon and Thomas in the crowd. It wasn’t hard tough, since Shannon’s purple hair could be seen from miles away… As Matthew and I started to walk towards them, I began to think. How could I be around Shannon now that I saw her last night…? I had to act as ’’normal’’ as I could, or else Shannon might suspect something… I was still thinking when lady luck provoked me…

’’Brian! I’m so glad to see you!’’ Shannon shouted while running towards me.
’’O-oh… euh… Hi S-Shannon!’’ I tried to reply as normal as possible.
’’So, did you sleep well?’’ Shannon said as she finally stood in front of me.
’’Well, Matthew here is my roommate, and as he snores it sounds as if the world is coming to its end… But luckily I brought my ear plugs with me!’’
’’Geeh, thanks a lot Brian… Also, Shannon it was, right? Pleased to meet you, I’m Matthew.’’
’’Hi Matthew, pleased to meet you!’’
’’Building a party without me?’’ Thomas all of a sudden said as he had walked towards us.
’’Ah, Thomas.’’ I replied. ’’This is my roommate, Matthew.’’
’’Pleased to meet you Matthew.’’
’’Same to you Thomas.’’
’’Well, how about we look for a nice pla-’’

My sentence was interrupted as the speakers turned on once more. Jupiter’s voice boomed trough the hall way…

’’Alright then, I’ll start this announcement by saying that I’m proud on all of you. Each participant was on time in the hall. Secondly, the voucher you received can be used at the vending machines. As soon as you insert the voucher, the vending machine’s menu will change, and you’ll be able to order your breakfast. The voucher only works once, so don’t select the wrong menu. As you might already have noticed, we put some tables and chairs for you inside the hall so that you can take a seat and eat. That is all for now, and enjoy your breakfast.’’

The speakers turned off, and we all went to the vending machines, the waiting line was pretty long, but after about 15 minutes we all had our breakfast. Although I’d never expect it from myself, I picked pasta as my breakfast, but then again, so did Matthew, Thomas, and Shannon. We decided to pick the table located at our ’’meeting point’’, and the four of us took place at it. I just couldn’t help but watch Shannon at every move she did. I was very nervous while around her… I just hoped she didn’t notice it, or actually that anyone noticed it… Matthew had finished his pasta first, and Thomas shortly followed afterwards. They discussed something, but I didn’t follow the conversation since I was too focussed on Shannon. But then all of a sudden she looked at me, and surprisingly with a small smile on her lips. Our eyes met, and for a moment I was lost in her deep purple eyes… I could see millions of stars in her eyes, and I felt myself getting pulled inside the universe as I looked at them… But all of a sudden I snapped out of it, as I reminded last night. Shannon saw that I wasn’t looking into her eyes anymore and continued eating, but she kept looking at me with glimpses. For a moment, I could see her blushing tough… Shannon didn’t eat much, which was actually pretty strange. The rest of us had already finished our pasta, but she was only halfway, and trust me when I say I’m a slow eater… I wanted to start a conversation with Shannon, maybe to get to know more about her, but once again the speakers turned on… It was almost as if they did that on purpose, just to annoy me…

’’Alright people, I hope you all enjoyed your breakfast, since it’s time to continue the survey! It’s 8.55am, so you all have 5 minutes to look up who your opponent is. Good luck to you all!’’

The speakers once more turned off, and I actually felt sorry for Thomas, as usually I check on how he was doing, but because I was so focussed on Shannon I totally forgot how he had slept in his room, and how his roommate is like… I’d better ask him later on the day, but he was busy with talking to Matthew anyways… At least for now…

’’Alright guys, good luck! I’m already off to see who my opponent is.’’ I said while standing up.
’’Well, you’re eager to fight!’’ Thomas added.
’’Well, good luck to all of you, I’m first going to use the bathroom!’’ Shannon said as she ran off.
’’Well, good luck Thomas and Brian.’’
’’Same to you Matthew.’’
’’Yeah, same to you roommate!’’
’’See you guys!’’
’’See ya!’’
’’Bye!’’

We then all left to see who our opponent was. I looked at the big screen, while actually still a little drowsy from the lack of sleep, and actually from the pasta too… However, I was soon to wake up as I looked on the screen that showed my match up…

Number 481: Brain Shephourd VS Number 013: Shannon Ompulous

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

Ooo... not THAT is a scary coincedence! Well done man... you're doing really well with this!

You also have done a great job in explaining how the features of the place work - you get the impression that this HQ is real and this kind of thing actually DOES happen daily :p. And could our little hero actually be getting a bit of a crush on Shannon? That would make for an interesting plotline for the battle to come... :)

Excellent works as always man! You've done yourself proud with this fic... :D

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

Yeah, this is getting better and better:D

I really wanna read next chapter:p

Chapter 15: Twist of fate! Brian Vs Shannon!

I could do nothing then just stare at the large screen above me, and I was hoping my eyes deceived me… My match was against Shannon, and I just couldn’t believe it… I was trying to stay away from her, or at least from a distance, since I was still investigating what had happened the evening before… On top of that, she was one of our ’’friends’’ now, and our match could affect our group… I decided to accept my fate, and I made way towards our battlefield… Once I arrived, Shannon was already there…

’’Oh, hey Brian!’’ she said as happy as always. ’’Did you come to wish me good luck?’’
’’Well, that too… But euhm… did you look at your match up already…?’’
’’Well, no, I never look at who my opponent is, only at the field where I have to battle.’’
’’Well, guess why I’m here…?’’

Shannon looked at me quite surprised. She stood there as a statue, and was just staring at me while thinking why I could be here… All of a sudden she looked shocked at me and she slowly started to talk.

’’D-do you mean… you’re my….?’’
’’Yes, I’m you’re opponent this time Shannon…’’
’’B-but… I don’t want you to lose, as well that I don’t want to lose…’’
’’I know, but there’s nothing we can do about it… Let’s just give it our best.’’
’’B-but…’’
’’Have no worries, despite the outcome of this match, I will have no hard feelings against you. I promise you that.’’
’’I’m glad about that! In that case, let’s get this over with!’’
’’That’s more like it! The sooner we get this over with, the better!’’

We both entered the battlefield, and even tough I told Shannon I wouldn’t have any hard feelings against her in spite of the outcome, I wasn’t too sure about the same regarding what I witnessed the evening before…

’’Both participants ready?’’ the ever-present grunt asked us.
’’I’m ready for this, as always!’’ Shannon shouted excited.
’’So am I!’’
’’Alright then, begin!’’
’’I’ll open this one Brian! Let’s do this, Salamence!’’

I looked in awe at Shannon. Once more our eyes met, and as she was making the gesture to throw her pokéball I could see a small sparkle of excitement in her eyes, as well as some moment of malice… It was as if she had become another person than the Shannon I had met, and I couldn’t help but to get the feeling Shannon was a ruthless battler… On top of that, she always told Thomas and I she always managed to get a clean sweep, which actually worried me a lot… Before my eyes a shiny Salamence landed on the battlefield, its eyes lit by a burning desire to fight. It immediately went airborne, while spouting flames all around the battlefield in excitement. I thought about what to do, and I decided to take advantage of Salamence’s weaknesses.

’’Go! Golduck! Use ice beam immediately!’’

Shannon looked at me surprised. Even before I entered my pokémon, I already gave it an order. It must have looked strange in the view of another trainer, but I knew this was the guarantee that I would get the first hit, and I knew my pokémon could hear me while giving the order. My Golduck popped out of its ball, and as I told it, it immediately used a ice beam attack on Shannon’s Salamence, which took the hit direct on. Not only that, but it was frozen solid by my ice beam attack! Lady luck was finally working in my favour!

’’Way to go Golduck! We got that one for a while!’’
’’Your Golduck is well trained Brian, I must admit. But I can’t lose just yet!’’

As Shannon’s Salamence fell down from the sky I could see it look at me and my Golduck. Strangely it had no anger in its look, and it was looking so calm… You would expect that a Salamence that had taken a ice beam attack head on would at least look a little as if it was in pain, since it had a major weakness to ice, but it didn’t show any emotion at all… Right before Shannon’s Salamence hit the floor while frozen solid, I could see a small purple jolt run trough its eye, and all of a sudden Shannon’s Salamence broke free from the ice it was captured in. It roared victorious, and it landed on all four of its legs on the floor. It then immediately jumped up, and began flying once more. You would expect you’ve seen everything by then, but it seemed as if Shannon’s Salamence had only taken a small amount of damage from my attack, despite its weakness… I decided to act quickly, as this battle could get nasty…

’’Golduck! Capture that Salamence with a psychic attack!’’

My Golduck darted forward, and was directly underneath Shannon’s Salamence. It then let loose a powerful psychic attack, and once more Shannon’s Salamence was hit head on, and it was held stuck by powerful psychic powers. It seemed as if Shannon’s Salamence didn’t even bother to try and avoid the attacks I made on it…

’’Golduck! Use ice beam once more!’’

My Golduck did its best effort and fired its ice beam at its full power in an effort to inflict some real damage on Shannon’s Salamence this time. As the beam hit head on once again, we expected to finally inflict some damage on Shannon’s Salamence, but nothing happened. It too ksome damage tough, but it simply was as if Shannon’s Salamence had no weakness whatsoever…

’’I’m sorry I have to do this Brian…’’ Shannon said all of a sudden.
’’What do you mea-’’

I looked at Shannon, and I could see she was looking at me with this certain glare… apparently she must have watched me all the time, and she now knew I had no more idea’s of what to against her Salamence.

’’Please forgive me Brian, but here it ends. Salamence! Do it!’’

Shannon’s Salamence roared furious, as if it was waiting all this time for Shannon to give it a order. It broke free of my Golduck’s psychic attack with ease, and before I knew it Shannon’s Salamence dove down, hitting my Golduck with an aggressive dragon rush. My Golduck flew across the battlefield upon the impact, and landed right in front of my feet. It was totally beaten up from just a single attack, and I knew I had lost this round. As I returned my Golduck, I couldn’t help but to look in awe at Shannon and her Salamence. Such power, along with the resistance to all of its weaknesses, how was that possible? Any other Salamence would’ve succumbed after taking two ice beam attacks head on, but Shannon’s Salamence just stood there as if nothing had happened… For a moment I thought about last evening, as this Jason guy gave Shannon some sort of serum… But then again, she was instructed to take this serum herself, and not to give it to her pokémon… So the serum couldn’t be the reason why her Salamence was capable of overcoming its weakness… I had to think of something quick tough, as this could easily cost me the match… But then again, what were I to do if Shannon had more pokémon like this…? If all her pokémon somehow had the ability to overcome their weakness, what was I to begin in the first place…? Then I got an idea all of a sudden. Maybe Shannon’s Salamence was holding a Yache berry, which would weaken my ice type attacks against it! I decided to take advantage of Shannon’s Salamence’s other weakness, and I decided to bring in the powerhouse of my team.

’’Well, you’re Salamence is strong Shannon! But I doubt it can handle this! Go! Dragonite!’’

As I threw my pokéball, Shannon looked at me as if she was observing me. In the meanwhile my Dragonite appeared, and it immediately went airborne to face Shannon’s Salamence.

’’I see you have lot’s of trust in your Dragonite, Brian.’’
’’I do, and soon you’ll know why! I’m not going easy on you anymore!’’
’’Oh, where you going easy on me then?’’
’’Well, I did my best with my Golduck, I can’t deny that… But now it’s time to show you what I’m capable of! Dragonite! I know this is awkward for you, but this Salamence is really tough! I’d rather not ask of you, but I have no choice this time! Unleash your outrage!’’

Without doubting my command, my Dragonite used its outrage, and the battlefield was filled with the bright energy emitted from my Dragonite. Shannon’s Salamence now looked a little interested in my Dragonite, as it altered its gesture to a more careful one.

’’Wow, your Dragonite really is strong!’’
’’Just watch, I’ll show you just how strong we are!’’

Shannon’s Salamence now roared in excitement, and began to spout flames all over the battlefield again while looping trough the sky. As soon as it stopped, I could see the burning desire to fight in Shannon Salamence’s eyes. At the same time my Dragonite prepared to fight, and both pokémon we’re ready to give it their all!

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

Purrfect James, Purrfect chapter as always..
I can't believe the power of that Salamence,it could be quite impossible to withstand 2 ice beams in just 1 battle! (For a dragon type)
I would really expect that Dragonite could beat Salamence, but that's my expection,it's your story :p

MORE LUCK AND MORE POWER!

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

Wow... Salamence could do THAT? o_O

I can't find faults in this, as you know... it's just getting crazier and crzier as it goes :D

I'm glad you all like this story, it really means a lot to me!:) To show my grattitude to you all, here's the next chapter: ''Clash of the dragons! Who is the superior?'' Shannon's Salamence and Brian's Dragonite are ready to fight this out, but who will win...? Read this chapter to find out!

Enjoy!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 16: Clash of the dragons! Who is the superior?

’’Dragonite! Avoid that dragon rush!’’

Shannon’s Salamence rushed trough the sky with blinding speed, and my Dragonite only barely evaded the attack. Shannon’s Salamence crashed into the battlefield’s ceiling, and pieces of it came falling down from the huge impact the attack had.

’’Dragonite! Now’s our chance! Use dragon claw on Salamence’s weak belly!’’
’’That won’t help much either Brian!’’
’’We’ll see about that…!’’

My Dragonite darted up towards the ceiling, where Shannon’s Salamence was busy getting out of all the rubble. My Dragonite’s dragon claw hit Shannon’s Salamence right into its belly, but as with all my attacks Shannon’s Salamence didn’t pay too much attention to it. Things had been going on like that for a while… I had to think of what to do fast, as Shannon’s Salamence wouldn’t be stuck for much longer… I decided to take advantage of Salamence’s other weakness and I hoped that would work.

’’Dragonite! Dragon claws won’t be too effective! Go for thunder punches instead!’’

My Dragonite roared, and its antenna’s began to crackle with electric energy as he began charging his thunder punches. Right before Shannon’s Salamence was free, my Dragonite flew up with rapid speed, and managed to score at least one final hit before Shannon’s Salamence broke free of all the rubble. Pieces of ceiling smashed to the floor of the battlefield, together with a lot of dust. Even tough I expected it, my Dragonite’s thunder punches had little effect on Shannon’s Salamence. I slowly began to panic… If I couldn’t take use of any of Salamence’s weaknesses, then how was I supposed to win this…? On top of that, Shannon’s Salamence had some pretty strong attacks, and after a few direct hits my Dragonite would surely go down…

’’Well Brian, you surely have some good ideas, but I’m afraid they are of less use.’’
’’Don’t think this is over yet Shannon! There’s more to this than that you might think!’’
’’Oh, but Brian, this battle is over, I can guarantee you that. Salamence, finish this.’’

I looked at Shannon’s Salamence in awe, as what was it about to? My Dragonite looked at me, and questioned me what to do. My Dragonite wasn’t giving up just yet, be just like me it didn’t know what to do… Shannon’s Salamence prepared itself for something, and for a moment I could see the purple spark of energy rush trough its eyes that I had seen earlier. Shannon’s Salamence roared as it gathered power, from a source unknown. It began to glow all over its body with a bright red energy, and all of its muscles spanned tight as the energy increased. At first I thought it was using outrage as well as my Dragonite, but then I remembered that a Salamence can’t use an outrage attack. These studies at the PMC academy came in handy after all… But that didn’t change the fact I didn’t know what to do in this situation… My Dragonite landed on the battlefield to rest its wings, and since it didn’t know what to expect of Shannon’s Salamence it took on a defensive pose.

’’Dragonite! Just be careful of that Salamence’s attack! I don’t know what it is either, but be prepared for anything!’’
’’Salamence, you’ve gathered enough energy! Finish this!’’ Shannon ordered her Salamence.

Shannon’s Salamence looked at my Dragonite as if it was wondering on how it could attack in the best way. All of a sudden it dove down, taking an angle to fly to my Dragonite’s left side, and with a roar it increased its speed. It flew towards the left flank of the battlefield, and my Dragonite followed it in its path. As soon as it was about the height of which my Dragonite was standing it darted forwards in a straight line towards my Dragonite.

’’Dragonite, here it comes!’’

My Dragonite readied itself for the attack, and Shannon’s Salamence opened its mouth and unleashed a powerful flamethrower. My Dragonite countered it with a thunder punch, but as soon as the flames dissipated and the smoke was gone, so was Shannon’s Salamence! A little too late I discovered it was coming from above now instead.

’’Dragonite! Abov-’’

My Dragonite heard me, but it was already too late. My Dragonite turned to face Shannon’s Salamence, but right before he could get in position Shannon’s Salamence darted down with a dragon rush attack of immense power. The impact was huge, with both my Dragonite and Shannon’s Salamence roaring at the moment they made contact. Dust was everywhere to block out our sight, and pieces of the battlefield’s floor flew in the wild as if it was raining. I even had to step to the right for a moment; else I’d get a piece of it in my eye.

’’Dragonite!!!’’ I yelled at the top of my lungs to see if it was alright.
’’Don’t bother Brian! You’re Dragonite’s fainted by now!’’

But Shannon was wrong. My Dragonite flew out of the dust as fast as it could, but it was severely injured. It managed to survive the attack, but at a high cost. My Dragonite landed right in front of me, heavily panting and one of its eyes was shut tight from the impact. One of its arms hung next to its body as if it was broken, but luckily I could see my Dragonite move it slightly. So its arms wasn’t broken, but I knew I wasn’t seeing any action from that arm anymore this battle…

’’Dragonite! Are you alright? Can you continue fighting?’’

My Dragonite nodded at me, and it signalled me it could go a little further.

’’Well, I’m impressed Brian. You’re Dragonite is actually way tougher than that I had imagined. But this is over. Salamence, you know what to do.’’

Before I could even react Shannon’s Salamence darted out of the dust, and my Dragonite was completely harmless. Shannon’s Salamence hit my Dragonite in its back with its tail, and my Dragonite was flung forwards towards the wall, and after my Dragonite fell down on the floor behind me, it fainted. Shannon’s Salamence landed right in front of me, and our eyes met. I was fixed on the glare of Shannon’s Salamence, and we stared into each others eyes for about five seconds. What I saw was this expression of anger, as if an endless rage was fuelling Shannon’s Salamence’s power. For a moment the purple sparkle in Shannon’s Salamence’s eyes appeared again, and it was the same as if I was looking into Shannon’s own eyes. I was lost in a gigantic universe, drifting along millions of stars. This time it was slightly differently tough, as I was being taken somewhere this time. In the middle of these stars a big rock was standing, and at its peak I could see a shady figure. The longer I focussed on this shady figure, the closer the image came. The figure was standing with its back towards me, and I could see a black robe the figure was wearing. I immediately recognised the robe as soon as I saw the purple edges, and it was the same robe as that Jason figure had with him from last evening. The person slowly turned its head backwards, and I could see a single eye look at me. The eye was just as deep of a purple as those of Shannon’s, but I simply knew this person wasn’t Shannon at all. It wasn’t that Jason guy either, as he was way more buffed with muscles. No, I saw another person standing on the peak of that rock, looking with a malign intelligence at me… If only the person would turn its head around a little more, I would be able to see its face. I focussed as hard as I could, but I didn’t manage to get a clear view of the person. The person slightly turned more towards me, and right as it was about to turn around I was pulled back to the reality. The last glimpse I could get from the person standing on the rock was a long beard, so at least it was a man standing there. When I got back to my senses I immediately fell to the floor from the experience. Shannon’s Salamence flew back towards his side of the battlefield, and landed right in front of Shannon. It turned around to face me once more. I was unsure of what I had just experienced, and I managed to crawl back to my feet. I called my Dragonite back into its pokéball so that it could rest for now. This was madness! The strange experience that I just had, along with this tough Salamence, this wasn’t my day! Lady luck had surely abandoned me this time, and I was on my own to win this.

’’Well, ready to give up?’’
’’I will never give up!’’
’’Oh, come on Brian! This is nothing personal, but you should’ve noticed already you can’t win this? It’s not that I like beating your pokémon up you know!’’
’’Well, this battle isn’t over till it’s over!’’
’’very well then. Salamence, use roost!’’

Shannon’s Salamence focussed some of its energy, and it healed to full health in less then a second. It roared victorious when it was fully recovered again, and I actually lost all hope at this time, since it was as if my Golduck and Dragonite had given their best efforts for naught… I looked at my waist. I had four pokémon left, but I was only able to use one of those… I grabbed the third one, and I gave it all my hope.

’’I know this is the first time you’ll be used, but please aid me in here! You’re the most logical choice for this match up, so please bear with me!’’

With these words I threw my last pokéball for this battle, as well as my last hope… Both Shannon and her Salamence looked interested at what would come from my pokéball, and the battlefield was so quiet you could hear a needle fall…

[End chapter 16]

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

*clap clap* Good job James :p
I especially liked the weird man with a long beard, also, the battle is getting more intense! If this is his 3rd pokemon, I hope he uses it well! As for the weird rock in the stars, what could it be?

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

Woah... once again, that ruled...

Although this eye thing is a bit strange... some sort of odd power? Could Shannon and Jason be descendants from someone who had some crazy abilities? And the fact that the same is present in the pokemon... gah, I don't know! XP

Chapter 17: Apocalypse...?!!

’’Alright, please help me out here! I’m counting on you!’’

My last pokéball thudded on the floor. It opened up, and my Milotic came out. It looked gorgeous, its long body wrapped up in a circle, and its head pointed into the sky. I enjoyed this moment, as this was actually one of the most beautiful pokémon I had ever seen…! I was still shocked from the experience earlier on, but the view of my Milotic was somewhat soothing. I quickly snapped out of the spell tough, as my Milotic all of a sudden darted forwards toward Shannon’s Salamence! I didn’t even give it an order, yet it already began the fight.

’’M-Milotic…?! What are you doing?!’’
’’Oh? It seems your Milotic has some problems with listening to you Brian…’’
’’No kidding…’’ I said as softly as possible.

But as I looked at the battle, my Milotic was already within the reach of Shannon’s Salamence… This wasn’t good…!

’’Salamence! Just take it out with a dragon rush, since its so eager to faint!’’
’’Milotic, watch ou-’’

Shannon’s Salamence readied its attack, but my Milotic had already taken precautions. As soon as Shannon’s Salamence flew up and prepared to dive down, my Milotic used a hydro pump attack to swiftly move to the other side of the battlefield. It was too late for Shannon’s Salamence to alter its course, so it crash landed into the battlefield’s floor. Right before Shannon’s Salamence made impact tough, my Milotic had already began charging a ice beam, and shot it at Shannon’s Salamence. It was a direct hit, and from the looks of it, Shannon’s Salamence had some trouble ignoring this ice beam attack…! Could this mean I finally had a chance?

’’Way to go Milotic! Give it your all!’’
’’Humph, do you actually think my Salamence could be beaten that easily?’’
’’No, but I’m working on it!’’
’’Well, don’t get too full of yourself. Salamence, counter attack!’’

Shannon’s Salamence darted towards my Milotic with incredible speed, but once more my Milotic evaded by launching itself away with a hydro pump attack. However, this time Shannon’s Salamence was prepared, and it swiftly adjusted its course and met my Milotic head on. The dragon rush had a clear shot, and my Milotic flew down to crash into the floor. Right before it hit the floor it readied itself, and it made an impressive landing while using its tail to land with a soft thud, and then lowering itself for a soft landing. My Milotic took some damage, but it evaded the most impact of the blow from the floor. My relief was to last short tough, as Shannon’s Salamence was already on its way to my Milotic who had just landed, and which was still recovering. Right before Shannon’s Salamence was able to use another attack, my Milotic began to shout out into the sky, and at first nothing notable happened. But after a while a soft breeze could be felt blowing on the battlefield. As Shannon’s Salamence came closer, a huge gust of wind came on the field, and before we all knew it a huge twister was raging on the battlefield. My Dragonair also used a twister attack once, but that was just a small breeze compared to this one! Shannon’s Salamence was caught in the strong current of air, and was swept around the twister as a leaf in the early morning breeze.

’’Salamence! Get out of that twister and attack that Milotic!’’
’’Milotic! Try to hit it wit-’’

I wanted to order my Milotic something, but just as the battle began, it refused orders and went its own way. It darted forwards as Shannon’s Salamence was busy with getting out of the twister, and it took its chance. My Milotic gathered a lot of its energy, and as soon as Shannon’s Salamence almost freed itself my Milotic launched a blizzard attack into the twister. Shannon’s Salamence was hit head on, and was frozen solid in the frozen air.

’’Salamence! Dang it, I didn’t think your Milotic was so cunning Brian… It seems I actually have to use this against you… I didn’t want to use it, but you leave me no choice.’’
’’W-what the hell are you talking about Shannon…?’’
’’You’ll see. Salamence! Use apocalypse!!!’’
’’Use what…?!’’ I shouted in wonder at Shannon.

But I soon found out what she meant. Shannon’s Salamence broke free from its frozen state, and its eyes began glowing in a bright purple energy. Then it opened its mouth, and a black ball of energy was in it, as if Shannon’s Salamence was using a shadow ball attack, but that was impossible. Then the ball of energy surrounded not only our battlefield, but also the whole team galaxy base. Everybody else was shown in a blurry vision, as if Shannon, Shannon’s Salamence, my Milotic and I were all in a different dimension… But then it happened.

’’Sorry you’ll have to go trough this Brian, but I’m really tired of your Milotic now. Salamence, do it.’’
’’W-wait…! Do what?!’’

Before my eyes Shannon’s Salamence began glowing, and even tough a shiny pokémon should have different colours, Shannon’s Salamence went totally different… A shiny Salamence usually would be a light greenish colour, and Shannon’s Salamence used to be that too… But now it was a deep dark purple, shrouded in a black shadow. Its wings turned into pure energy, and they were black of colour. Small surges of energy sometimes sparkled off Shannon’s Salamence’s wings as it flapped them. It the opened it’s mouth and roared loudly. The sound of the roar was bone chilling, and I was literally frozen from that moment on. My Milotic was confused of what to do, and I can’t say I knew what to do either. I saw Shannon’s Salamence alter its gesture, and I wanted to warn my Milotic, who was looking around itself to explain what had just happened. But in doing so, it totally forgot it was in a fight. I tried to shout at the top of my lungs, but my body wouldn’t budge. I was stuck on my spot, helpless to do anything. All I could do was watch at what Shannon’s Salamence would do.

’’I’m really sorry you have to go trough all this Brian… But don’t worry; afterwards you won’t remember a thing! Salamence, get this over with!’’

I wanted to reply, but even if I could move it was already too late. Shannon’s Salamence emitted a pitch black aura, in the same way my Dragonite’s outrage aura would emit. I really wanted to do something, but I couldn’t do a simple thing. But all of a sudden Shannon began to talk.

’’Since you’ll forget it all soon, I think I can explain to you what’s going on, or at least a little. Apocalypse is a move only special kind of pokémon can use. Apocalypse’s effect and power depend on what type of pokémon uses it, and in my Salamence’s case you could see it as a way more powerful draco meteor attack… Just watch Brian, and enjoy the light show.’’

At first I didn’t get what Shannon was saying, but it all became clear to me. All around us stars that I at first hadn’t noticed began to brighten up at the point they would blind you, and for a second I recognised where I was. This place I felt as being when I looked into Shannon’s eyes, and where I saw this shady person with the beard… That was all here! I was actually in that odd place where I was surrounded by all these stars, but now they were all lit and burning around us. It were millions of them…

’’I see you understand it now what the attack apocalypse means. Draco meteor summons just a few small pieces of rock from outer space, but in my Salamence’s apocalypse case… well, Just watch, you’ll understand what I mean soon enough! Salamence, do it!’’

Shannon’s Salamence roared once more, and all of a sudden all the lit stars began moving. Not just in a random direction, but all towards my Milotic! My Milotic noticed it now, but it was too late. The stars began to increase their pace, and all I could do was watch as each star made its impact on my Milotic. Even tough this was just a pokémon’s attack, it was too brutal to watch… My Milotic was knocked out by just about five of the stars, but there were millions left that were still coming… The more stars made their impact, the more blurred my vision became with white light. And before I knew it, my vision went blank, and the next thing I remembered was that I woke up on the floor of the battlefield, where my head laid in Shannon’s arms.

’’W-what the…?!’’ I said while jumping up.
’’Relax Brian, it’s all over.’’ Shannon said.
’’What do you mean…?!’’
’’Well, my Salamence attacked your Milotic with a dragon rush attack, and it fainted. But as your Milotic fainted, so did you. At least, for a while. The judge saw it all.’’
’’B-but… that whole other thing…?!’’
’’Sssssh Brian…’’ Shannon said while she pulled me back into her arms. ’’It was all a bad dream you had while fainted.’’

I looked at Shannon. Could this be true…? Well, it didn’t matter much anyways. The judge already presented the score cards and I lost. I just couldn’t grasp what was going on, what was reality? I could swear I actually saw that ’’apocalypse’’ attack, as well as Shannon’s Salamence in that creepy state…

’’Well, let’s go to the desk and let’s get you something to drink!’’
’’Y-yeah… I think that’ll help for now…’’
’’Great!’’

Shannon ran off with a big smile on her face, and if I wasn’t mistaken she was slightly blushing as well. Man, this recruitment survey thing was getting to my head… I didn’t know what was real and what wasn’t anymore, but one thing was certain… I lost this one, so I’d better do my best to win the next one again… I asked the judge what had happened, but he stated the same as Shannon said… So there was nothing to get there… But I simply had to get into team galaxy, in order to save Bob… I decided to walk towards Shannon after I gave my ticket to the desk. I then sat at the same table as Shannon, and she kept her word- In front of me was one big juicy strawberry milkshake. I sighed and enjoyed my strawberry milkshake…

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

A weird chapter, but I like it James:cool:;)

This story is still a great story and I hope it will always be a great story:D

Keep going;)

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

Hmm... all I can say is wow - you must have lost me somewheres in the previous chapter :p

I'm surprised that Milotic isn't worse off than it is though... perhaps the only attack more savage than THAT one would be my Eevee's Shadow Ball... and that's only more savage cause his opponent actually DIED after that one. That attack was insane... very well done with the description!

I still don't have any clue where this is going right now, but it's good anyhow!

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

That was unexpected....
well, for me at least:)

I kinda lost track of what happened there.
Ah, well all I know is that he lost, and has do do better in the next battle...

I'll be waiting for the next chapter!

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

This is weird, but it's possible to get. What could be that Apocalypse? Is is true?. Apocalypse, isn't that supposed to be the last conflict between God and Satan? Is there a connection between that and this? I wonder!

RE: James' Fanfic contest entry[still needs a name]

yay, happy 20th B-Day to me! :D

I'm sorry to inform you that the next chapter MIGHT take a while, since I'm celebrating my B-Day, and since I got to work... But please stay tuned for the next chapter! :D

Greetz, James:D
