Haha, there really are only around 70 new Pokemon. GameFreak is really being stupid. They make this HUGE transition to the 3DS and this is what we get? Don't give me the "They had a lot of work making 3D models for all the old ones, so a low amount of new ones makes sense" argument. They had enough time to make mega evolutions, they had enough time to make 30 other real Pokemon. I'm so disappointed with GameFreak. Will I still get the games? Of course. I want to meet the new Pokemon just like everyone else does. But by introducing only 70 Pokemon, there are a lot of people who are going to look at this generation as almost pointless. I know there are a lot of people who play for the storyline, but a majority play it for the new Pokemon. They go from introducing a record high amount of Pokemon in 5th generation, to a record low amount in 6th generation? Where is the logic? They could have taken 30 5th generation Pokemon and saved them for X and Y! I'm sorry, but I'm very frustrated and I know I'm not alone. I mean, you're gonna introduce a new type, make the world 3D, add new functions, but make only 70 new Pokemon? Illogical. Mega evolutions might have been the saving grace for 6th generation, but they ruined that too by making overpowered Pokemon even MORE overpowered, and also by making them temporary. Sorry, but I prefer new Pokemon that will stay in the evolution it becomes. Why go through all the work to design 3D models for a Pokemon that only exists under EXTREMELY specific conditions? They could have saved Mega evolutions for a generation where they introduce more REAL Pokemon. Biggest letdown in Pokemon history? Yep. (Okay my rant is over)

I was under the impression that Bunnelby's line was our normal type rodent this gen?

I don't think so, bunnelby is a bunny, dedenne is a rodent, it's electric type and even has the cheecks

While I agree that Bunnelby isn't a rodent as much as Dedenne, I thought he was asking about the Raticate/Watchog of this gen. Especially since Dedenne is a pika-clone. :/

I am seriously disappointed with Zygarde.

Its design looks stupid, it's yet another legendary dragon, when it really obviously should be a poison type, apparently its stats are worse than Garchomp's and it's ability is absolutely useless unless used against Xerneas and Yveltal who would be both be incredibly rare to fight against.

I'm not looking forward to the inevitable focus this pokemon is going to get in the next game, I hate it even more than Kyurem, and that's saying something. At least Kyurem brought a new type combination to the table.

I don't see what's wrong with that argument. I actually expected that to be the case. Be happy we even got 70 Pokemon, instead of adding 100-150 2d Pokemon Sprites, they added 700+ 3D Models and Animations!
Honestly, some people are just spoiled...

How is that illogical? They added all of those new features, it makes sense that they didn't have time or the necessity to add more Pokemon. In some peoples eyes, features are more important. Yeah, I do wish that we got more Pokemon, but I'm happy with what we got. All of the Pokemon are awesome, and the features are amazing. I'd easily give up the possibility of 10-20 Pokemon for the Super Training feature for example..

But, I do agree with you about Mega Evolutions, they are kind of a waste. Making overpowered Pokemon more overpowered, doesn't do anything for the Meta. It just forces people to always have one in their team, thus eliminating choices or forcing them to be banned in certain meta-games and [community accepted] Tiers.

Don't get me wrong, I think they're cool and all, but kind of pointless in some senses.

I'm glad Noivern has a pre-evolution. Early game dragons FTW!

Now we just need a Druddigon pre-evo...

Unfortunately,
#113 in the third dex is equivalent to #413 out of 450. So that's far from early.

You should be looking at Axew and Bagon around the end of Central/beginning of Coastal dex.

But there will also be Trapinch, Horsea, Dratini, Gible... and a lovely creature called Goomy that seems to be the new pseudo-legend, so there is no lack of choice for Dragons, at all this time.

No fire-type or dark-type gyms. Wow. I'm not happy about this at all.

When will people realize Gamefreak doesn't prioritize gym/E4 types by "what they haven't done yet"?

There are several minor factors that determine these, but they all have more weight.
Like, what Pokemon are available in the region, what kind of location their gym is at....and then even stuff like what kind of puzzles they can think of that would be the most fun.
Etc.

And then when the gyms are set, the E4 is restricted to be mostly types that aren't already employed by gyms, villains, champion, or other important characters.

All this is why Dark usually ends up at E4.


Also. Guess what. TEAM FLARE.
If the name is any indication, they are likely the Fire-vent. Hence rest of thematic trainers focus on other stuff to make the game more diverse.

gen 6 - 72

Only 72 new pokemon !!?!?
Only 2 ground pokemon - Diggersby and Zygarde , and we will have to wait 2-3 years for another gen .

gen 5 had 156. and gen 4 had 117 I believe.

I'm actually fine with that number.

gen 6 wasn't gonna be a "bulk of common pokemon" anyway. And I didn't expect it to be.

If it means anything, its that gen 7 won't take too long to show up, and when it does, its gonna be another Kanto/Unova, with new-pokes only.

So its the same in the long run anyway in my view.

lets not forget gamefreak might have outsmarted us this time, and the sequel to XY might have a few dozen new pokes that will still count as part of gen 6 anyway.
This is the first time they had the upper hand over game-rippers in a long time. They probably considered new ways of keeping extra pokemon secret, and maybe not just event pokemon (and formes) this time.


Either way.
I'm playing through a gen V game for the 6th time if Im not mistaken, and I still haven't used plenty of the Unova-introduced pokemon I plan to. lol

Exactly, I think this gen is the closest to a reboot pokemon will have. They are cleaning the house, bringing pokemon up to the times: jumping to 3D, adding the ability to customize characters, bringing order to things like the metagame (nerfing dragons, giving protagonism to poison and steel, making megaevos so regular pokemon are capable to face legendaries (though I agree megaevolving pseudolegendaries and good pokemon is overkill, megaevos should raise any unused/weak pokemon to a pseudolegendary level)), oficially recognizing EVs, trying to get old players to return (after almost 20 years, gen 1 is just too far away), introducing an external pokemon storage not tied to any specific console or game...

Besides, with more than 700 pokemon and counting; have you stopped to think what would happen should the trends continue? is a metagame of 1000 pokemon something easy for people to take? games where you can catch 560 pokemon something easy to make? pokemon that learn moves every 2 levels, or don't learn new gens's moves at all? legendaries that become increasingly powerful with each generation?The problem with pokemon is that each gen builds over the previous one, but there are loose ends, and those, if not taken care of, mess stuff up seriously. Pokemon has been sitting on top of a ticking time bomb of chaos for some time now, so they are fixing that.
They, as they usually do, gave this a test with unova, see if people would take this "reboot", so this is just growing pains from a franchise entering a more mature and full state.

Quoting harvey dent: "The night is always darkest before the dawn. And I promise you, the dawn is coming." Also: "AHHHHHHH IT BURNS" might be applicable for quite some asses now.

Yes, game freak is trying to force its heterosexual ways on all the homosexual players. Its just a game, calm down. Would u expect that all the straight pokemon players to boycott this game if the hero was gay? You would then lose the huge majority of the community. Build a bridge and get over it.

There is one thing that I am actually extremely pleased with though. The fact that there isn't a Poison-type legendary. Why? Because it gives GameFreak a reason to make a 7th gen!

And to be completely honest, I'd prefer 100-150 new sprites over 70 new 3D models. The video games aren't the only thing out there you know. There's the TCG, not to mention I have a huge fascination in the official artwork. Plus there's fanart. So I might be the only one, but yeah. It's really cool that we have 3D models, but sprites did the job just as well for me.

I've always thought that "Dating" in games that aren't Dating Simulators, are pointless and stupid... I mean, it's POKEMON, why would anyone even be interested in dating in it? Besides, it's not even real, so what's the point of "dating" in a Video Game? Granted, the Dropped Item in B2/W2 was kind of "Dating", in that it was an opposite gender NPC that gave you "Gifts"...

Didn't someone say in an interview there was a rodent with a pirate hat? That was way back so I dunno but I'm fine with the amount of new pokes, I mean, to see my beautiful speed demon sceptice in 3d, slashing bunnelbys face off, what a beauty. I agree with one of the other posts, this game is essentially a reboot of pokemon, GF probably had all the pokemon planned by may and started working more towards the 3d animations and sprites for older pokemon. I hope they come up with an awesome class of legendaries, I really liked the weather trio in b/w and I hope they do more badass designs like that and possibly a couple of legendaries that support xernieus and yveltal

I think the whole the other playable character confessing their feelings for your chosen playable character is rather adorable. Remember, its not you they have feelings for, but the playable character instead.

Just ask Misty.
The opposite sex'd character can have a crush on your character. So what? I doubt you'd be forced to pursue in a "kids" game. . .

I don't play Ubers Tier, but if PokeBank can't Transfer items, does that mean they'd be obtainable in the game somewhere, the Legendary Pokemons respective Held-Items I mean?

I was using Dream World to farm expensive Berries to sell in X/Y to get tons of money, I guess it was all a waste then...

You're right.Nobody should force you and every other player to do something that's a little drastic especially for you.More it should be better if this kind of feature is optional but for me its kind of cute where another character expresses her feelings.I like new improvements and features being added to the game but in the same time GF shouldfocus on improving the base of Pokemon which they're partially doing.
