Pokedex 2.0 - Pokemon with Different Types and Evolutionary Lines! - Completed!

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Pokemon with different types and evolutionary lines! - Pokedex Completed!

So have all Pokémon been done now, or enough for a Pokédex?

RE: What if Pokemon had different evolutionary lines and types?

I made some changes to the thread so the first 3 posts now include the complete dex. It will be easier to find if they are not scattered on a page. Hope this helps. :)

I know that this Dex is completed but it would be great if you guys start adding a new info on the pokemon now and then maybe adding an egg group. So that the dicussion would be ongoing and the thread doesn't fall back

I salute how your imagination guys for making up this interesting dex. But like i said, sad to see it go down. Since every time I read the region thread i would still need to refer here to understand the line

There is now a link to this thread on the front page of the region thread, but it's a valid point. I wish I could put my notes on movesets here, instead of in the other thread, but since I don't have a post here until, like, page 9, I don't really have any place to put them, so I'm stuck with what I've got.

I do have notes on egg groups - let me know if any of them feel inappropriate:

Note: In this list, Water 1 (2) is referred to as just "Water," Water 2 (9) as "Shellfish," and Water 3 (12) as "Fish." This is intended to help clarify the distinctions between them.

My post for today is about alternative evolution methods for Pokémon whose specified method would be difficult to reproduce in a fan game. These methods are primarily of two types, trade evolution methods and evolutions that require two different methods to be fulfilled simultaneously.

#018 Ho-Row
Old: Evolves from Fearow holding a Gold Wing.
New: Evolves from Fea-Row when leveled up holding a Gold Wing during the day.

Obviously, this change has nothing to do with technical limitations, it's just more thematic, and helps tie Ho-Row's evolution method in with Mooslime's new method, below.

#023 Varmgoyle
Old: Evolves from Swoopire via Happiness, while also knowing Dark Pulse.
New: Evolves from Swoopire when leveled up knowing Dark Pulse.

Varmgoyle required two separate conditions to be met, which is surprisingly hard to do (generally, the game looks to see if it has max happiness or knows Dark Pulse, not both). I went with the one that's more interesting, since Dark Pulse is also a TM.

#061 Brawlkey
Old: Evolves from Mokoal by trading.
New: Evolves from Monkoal at level 30.

Trading is generally impossible in a fan game, and methods like creating an in-game trade to get it create problems of their own when that Pokémon gets locked into one nature/IV set as a result. Since this is a fan project that can avoid the trade question altogether without contradiction, I think it's best we take the opportunity.

#069 Ammonink
Old: Evolves from Squink when levelled up whilst holding a Spiral Shell.
New: Evolves from Squink when leveled up holding a Spiral Shell during the night.

This change parallels the one in Immalive, below, and is explored in-depth in the post for [link=http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/thread-pokemon-shuffle-the-pokedex-2-0-region-thread?pid=2662326#pid2662326]Frescourse City[/link].

#072 Healoserp
Old: Evolves from Aquaconda at level 40 while suffering a Status Condition.
New: Evolves from Aquaconda at level 43 if Defense is higher than Attack.

I suggested the changeover to the first evolution method, but even though it's doable, it's really not that awesome, since it's really just a question of whether you equipped Toxic Orb or Flame Orb that day. The new method is the Tyrogue method, and illustrates the idea that Aquaconda has to overcome any violent tendencies to evolve. I would recommend changing Aquaconda's stat line to 69/55/55/75/85/60 to accommodate the change, though.

#077 Mantay
Old: Evolves from Frish at level 25, when on water.
New: Evolves from Frish at level 25 on or near the ocean.

Obviously, Frish's evolutions use location pointers, much like Magneton's and Nosepass's. Anytime you're underwater, you're on a different map, so Abyssil is already perfect. For Mantay and Fishung, this change, which looks very minor, means that Mantay's locations and Fishung's locations will be separate maps, as opposed to the previous distinction, where coastal maps could contain locales for both simultaneously.

#079 Fishung
Old: Evolves from Frish at level 25, when on land.
New: Evolves from Frish at level 25 on or near fresh water.

See Mantay.

#105 Hypnozeat
Old: Evolves from Akumeat by trading.
New: Evolves from Akumeat at level 45

See Brawlkey. While 45 is a high level, Akumeat and Shadare show up in a lot of high-level areas, so it shouldn't be completely ridiculous.

#108 Maraunt
Old: Evolves from Shadare by trading.
New: Evolves from Shadare at level 45

See Brawlkey.

#111 Jettrian
Old: Evolves from Triglitate by using a Psi Stone.
New: Evolves from Triglitate using a Shiny Stone

With the removal of Nateer/Mysteer, Jettrian is the only remaining user of the Psi Stone. Putting it on the Shiny Stone instead means there are 2 Pokémon who use the Shiny Stone, allowing every stone to be used at least twice.

#113 Ballaspark
Old: Evolves from Dustmite by leveling up while holding Thunder Stone.
New: Evolves from Dustmite using a Thunder Stone

The original method looks like it was a typo?

#129 Volzard
Old: Evolves from Solarmander by trading.
New: Evolves from Solarmander at level 30

While the Pokédex here says Volard, the spelling "Volzard" has been consistently used in the Region thread, so I'm sticking with it. Same reasoning as Brawlkey, though.

#135 Féntom
Old: Evolves from Leami at level 22.
New: Evolves from Leami at very low happiness.

Féntom and Porusum establish a weird parallel with their opposite branch. Although there are evolutionary branches with non-similar methods (Slowbro/Slowking being a good example), Tanmour being a stone evolution while Porusum evolves by level gives them jarringly non-parallel movesets. By basing their evolution methods on those of their analogues, the movesets can be a lot smoother.

#136 Porusum
Old: Evolves from Féntom at level 34.
New: Evolves from Féntom using a Dusk Stone.

See Féntom.

#138 Immalive
Old: Evolves from Mhask when traded while holding the Life Essence.
New: Evolves from Mhask when leveled up holding a Life Essence during the day.

See Ammonink.

#154 Mikoprinaly
Old: Evolves from Gojirantrum at level 43 while the 3DS is upside down.
New: Evolves from Gojirantrum at level 43 if Speed is higher than Attack.

This one is another technical limitation, since if you're playing on computer, there's no consistent method to turn that upside down and have the game be aware of it. Once again, this features the Tyrogue method, where Gojirantrum can evolve when its grace trumps its bestial power. This would involve another stat alteration for Gojiratrum: 80/85/80/40/70/85

#156 Suraimutuf
Old: Evolves from Hydrugetal at level 20 after using Harden 10 times in one battle without switching out.
New: Evolves from Hydrugetal when leveled up knowing Harden.

This method, while very creative, is a double method, and also involves something that the game may not be equipped to track. The new method keeps Harden as the focal point, and Harden will be learned at level 20 for consistency.

#157 Mooslime
Old: Evolves from Suraimutuf at level 40 after fainting five times in one battle.
New: Evolves from Suraimutuf when leveled up holding a Lunar Wing during the night.

Again, I just don't know that the game has a means to track that this is happening. The new method is inspired by Ho-Row's method, above, where a key item associated with the Pokémon's source has been converted into a hold item that allows the evolution.

#165 Petalue
Old: Evolves from Petalish when traded while holding a Miracle Seed.
New: Evolves from Petalish when leveled up holding a Miracle Seed.

This is just a simple substitution to remove the trade requirement.

#189 Pakoraru
Old: Evolves from Parushell at level 27 while holding a Pearl.
New: Evolves from Parushell when leveled up holding a Big Pearl.

Removes the double requirement, and the use of a Big Pearl rather than a regular one helps regulate it, by making it a rarer item that can be fully devoted in purpose to serving Parushell's evolution.

#203 Whiphurl
Old: Evolves from Martiail when traded holding a Tail Whip.
New: Evolves from Martiail when leveled up holding Tail Whip during the night.

Again, just removing the trade requirement. Whiphurl/Pompunch receive a night/day separation to help enforce their dual nature, like Ho-Row/Mooslime and Immalive/Ammonink, the other Pokémon who use the same method.

#204 Pompunch
Old: Evolves from Martiail when traded holding a Lucky Punch.
New: Evolves from Martiail when leveled up holding Lucky Punch during the day.

See Whiphurl.

#211 Witcheery
Old: Evolves from Banshriek with happiness, while knowing at least one Psychic Type move.
New: Evolves from Banshriek using a Moon Stone.

Like Volzard, this is another Pokémon where I don't agree with the canonized spelling; Witcheerie is good on its own, but so visually similar to Wizcheenie that the two become almost impossible to distinguish - imagine sending out the wrong Pokémon because you misread the info text during a trainer battle! The use of the Y is meant to evoke "cheery" as an alternate reading, as well as the full word "witchery."

As to the evolution, though, this is entirely about making sure every stone (except Glitched, which gets a well-deserved exemption) is used at least twice, so I replaced a problematic dual requirement in order to do so.

I've been thinking about moves gained upon mega evolution.

It's a fresh and interesting idea, but how does it work mechanically? Specifically, how does the game determine which of the four moves on the Pokémon become the new one?

In the case of Abso-Fusion, there's a "tag" move that always becomes the new move on the form change - Glaciate becomes Freeze Shock/Ice Burn in the canon example of Kyurem, and in the case of Maragon Abso-Fusions in the Shuffle universe, Detect always turns into King's Shield. In these cases, if the Pokémon doesn't know the move that's meant to be transformed, nothing happens.

The other main alternative that I know of is the Rotom method, in which upon changing forms a dialogue appears asking you to replace one of the four existing moves with the form's signature move. That option would probably get tedious given the constant back-and-forth of Mega Evolution, but it's an option.

In the case of Draco Meteor, I already have Xamatter and Hailord as options on my Draco Meteor learn list. Here's the Pokémon I have listed as able to learn it:
-Xamatter
-Hailord
-Therorus
-Trancharus
-Dracomental
-Gigagon
-Arukheat
-Aerolord
-Florilord
-Terralord
-Dramph
-Fliegon
-Aerogon
-Drafly
-Maragon

It would work like a pokemon learning a move in battle...for example "droughtlord wants to learn eruption! Which move should erruption replace?" The moveset would revert back to normal after the battle.

So, we're at the 3 month mark right now, and even though the region is nearly complete, I think things have been getting kind of stagnant around here...in an effort to rekindle some of the light airiness of earlier efforts and give some unexpected new options, what if we expanded the Pokédex slightly?

My proposal is to add 25 new Pokémon, as well as reinstating Nateer and Mysteer with new stat lines, for a total of 255 Pokémon. Since one of the main rationales for not having more Megas is the ratio of Mega to non-Mega Pokémon, if this expansion passes we could also add 4 additional Megas for a total of 36.

Having more Pokémon would give the ability to fill some gaps in the meta that may have shown up - for example, Ice, Dragon, Ground, Rock, and Poison, as the rarest types in the Shuffleverse, could all use a bit more coverage.

Since adding new Pokémon doesn't require the creation of new art assets, it doesn't really add too much more to the scope of the project to add a few extras in. The main consequences would be that numbers would have to shift around, but numbers are rarely referenced, and aren't really mechanically tied to anything. The other would be that these late-comers wouldn't appear as often in the region, but RSE successfully managed to have some Pokémon that really don't appear much (Feebas, Chimecho, Relicanth), and it made their relationship to the region more, rather than less interesting.

I'm no good at flavor and stuff so does anyone want to do an electric line of shiny Growlithe to Zapdos? The idea is that when exposed to a thunder stone it changes dramaticly.

Why not do "Pokemon Shuffle 2" and slightly rework the Region/Dex in a new thread? :p

Edit: The reason why I propose this is because we will have to rework a lot of trainers teams and wild encounter rates to add these Pokemon. If some kind if new project is what you want why not make a sequel or prequel to the games where we can also learn more about characters as well as discovering new pokemon.

If we need a new line I have been thinking about one for a while now :D

Toaswim
Frog Pokemon
croagunk.gif

Basic Pokémon
Water
Ability: Swift Swim/Poison Touch (HA: Drizzle)
Stats: 55/67/54/60/58/70 Total: 364
It lives near ponds and rivers. Ancient civilizations considered it the bringer of summer.

Toxitoad
Frog Pokemon
politoed.gif

Evolves from Toaswim at level 25
Water/Poison
Ability: Swift Swim/Poison Touch (HA: Drizzle)
Stats: 74/85/66/80/68/90 Total: 463
It hides under water lilys. If someone happens to touch their skin, they would instantly be very poisoned.

Poisanour
Frog Pokemon
greninja.gif

Evolves from Toxitoad at level 42
Water/Poison
Ability: Swift Swim/Toxic Skin (HA: Drizzle)
Stats: 90/116/74/113/79/120 Total: 592
A skillfull swimmer, Poisanour is often used to train upcoming proffesional swimmers. However they have to be careful to not touch their highly poisonous skin.

I definetly wouldn't mind doing a Pokemon Shuffle 2, since I think this was/still is a really fun idea! :D

Great line! Perhaps in our new remake (if Amperglyph likes it too) I should expand Poison Peak to add a Poisonus Lake, this line would be a great fit!

I am going to make a third stage for Brawlkey when I get home so stay tuned!

I have these ideas and then I'm gonna stop so someone else can make some lines as well ;)

Pengchick
Penguin Pokemon
piplup.gif

Basic Pokémon
Ice
Ability: Ice Body (HA: Thick Fat)
Stats: 55/47/44/57/55/48 Total: 306
Living in small clusters of 4-5, these wander about looking for their favorite berries: Aspear Berries.

Penlord
Royal Pokemon
golduck.gif

Evolves from Pengchick at level 30
Ice
Ability: Ice Body (HA: Thick Fat)
Stats: 64/57/60/73/71/60 Total: 385
After evolving a Penlord will wander around looking for its own area to claim as its territory.

Empenguin
Emperor Pokemon
empoleon.gif

Evolves from Penlord when holding a Kings Rock
Ice/Steel
Ability: Ice Body (HA: Thick Fat)
Stats: 80/90/76/128/115/70 Total: 559
Empenguin haves vicious fights about territories. In a territory there's often multiple Pengchick and Aspear trees.

Blisslide
Blissful Pokemon
togekiss.gif

Basic Pokémon
Flying
Ability: Serene Grace (HA: Natural Cure)
Stats: 90/37/68/87/90/70 Total: 442
Just by a Blisslide being present, conflicts can be solved naturally within seconds.

Joygon
Joy Pokemon
lugia.gif

Male - Female
Evolves from Blissfly at level 50
Flying/Dragon
Ability: Serene Grace (HA: Natural Cure)
Stats: 120/40/85/114/120/100 Total: 579
Joygon is often used in preschools to make the children happy. Though rarely angered, when it is, it's very dangerous.

I don't expect to have the time to contribute to a second game in the same way I've worked on the first, but you and Steffenka are obviously welcome to work on it.
