BW/BW2 Pokemon 5th Generation Brokenness

If Jaroda didn't have such a shallow movepool, he would be more of a threat.

I'm not sure if this thread is restricted to the ideals of the competitive meta-game only, but...

I think that the leveling is way off. The level need to evolve a Baruchai to Barujiina may make sense at the level it's captured, but when you breed one, then you notice how long it takes to reach Lv54.
Also, after beating the story, I was shocked that my Lv50s stood no chance against the Lv65-75 that were everywhere. And there was no VS. Seeker to go back and fight trainers to level up with.
In a sense, this would be why I believe that the generation is 'broken'.

But on the competitive side, I don't really see a change. Pokemon are equaled out fairly well IMO.

As it has been stated a lot on here already, there are some REALLY good pokemon in this generation! But when it comes to competitive battling, then they can all be countered if prepared for. The only real trouble I had was against this guy who was using a Trick Room team. He had Rankurasu, Desukan, (both had Trick Room) followed by Shubarugo, Crimgan, Shibirodon and Roopushin! Crimgan in a Trick Room area with Dragon Tail is ridiculous! My Ononokusu didn't stand a chance! So each pokemon is good if you got the right strategy. None of them are unstoppable if prepared for so you kinda have to be ready for everything!

Alright, time to clean this up a little.

I've been seeing alot of posts that this generation is broken. Well guess what? It's not. I've played this generation already and it is not broken. However, weather teams are everywhere. Ninetails and Politoad are actually useful. Same thing with many Tyranitar leads. Rain teams are constructed of mainly Manaphy, Kerudio, and Kingdra this gen. Manaphy's Tail Glow gives it a +3 SAtk boost now. That means in the rain, a LO (usually use leftovers, but some use LO) Modest 252 SAtk Manaphy Surf in the rain at +3 does 61.4% - 72.5% to a 252 SDef Calm Blissy. Hydro Pump does 78.3% - 92.2%. Both are 2HKOs. However, every Pokemon has a counter. Typically now though faster Pokemon are the main form of revenge as Manaphy can slice even a max SDef Kingdra in half.

Trick Room is actually a style now thanks to thank psychic piece of jell. That thing after a Calm Mind boost is extremly dangerous. Despite psychic being a bad type, it has Focus Blast which can help a little against steels and other Pokemon that can take a STAB Psychic.

That grass snake thing is much less of a threat than you people think. Most Jarloorda carry HP Fire. Heatran makes quite a counter now. Shandera does to if it is bulky enough or is running scarf. As people always say, everything has a counter. Then the metagame would just be unbalanced.

Now in the begging of Generation 5, everyone was hyped about Ononkusu and how it would "destroy the metagame and be the biggest threat ever." Well, first of all, alot of that unbeatable incredible power is all streatype. Hype. IMO, Salamence's better speed makes it the better sweeper in some cases. It still has enough attack to pass by, and with overconfidence, Dragon Claw turns into an even deadlier Outrage. Shandera IMO is overhyped pretty bad. It's good for many things, but people took Shadow Tag to seriosuly. Flash Fire is actually superior in some cases. It's actually best used as a Scarfer. Being a great counter to many of the metagames top threats thanks to it's large SAtk.

Dorryuzuu is pretty good though. Under sandstorm at least. This thing actually shapes the metagame a little. The fact it can preform as a defencive and offencive role player is fantastic. Rapid Spin on such an offencive Pokemon is really good. It's prime role though is to be used as the ultimate Sandstorm sweeper. After Swords Dance, it turns into the problum of the metagame. Even a non STAB Rock Slide can hurt bad on even the most defencive Skarmory.

Now lets talk about some unbannings, Latias, Latios, and Darkrai. All 3 are very very good Pokemon. However, ever wonder why you don't see Darkrai running around with Nasty Plot and Dark Void? Well thats because priorty is bigger than ever. Breloom's Mach Punch obliterates Darkrai into oblivion. Roobushin is bulky enough to take a boosted Focus Blast and strike back with an extremly powerful Mach Punch or Drain Punch of it's own. Latias and Latios are actually less dangerous than many of you think. Using a specially defencive Metagross or Bronzong can handle both with an adequete Payback or Meteor Mash. Bronzong can even counter Dory with a handy Earthquake.

Some things however are underhyped. These are Kerudio and Terakion. Kerudio is the ultimate stall breaking tool. It's life orb'd Hydro Pump can blast through teams like a bazooka. While Mystery Sword can completly dismantle Blissy or just stall in general. The only things that give Kerudio trouble are that Bouncy water Ghost, Latias, Latios, and possibly Jolteon. Latias and Latios and even that Water Ghost can be handled through Hidden Power Dark. Or Hidden Power Electric if you feel you want to handle Gyarados instead of Latias or Latios. Terakion is very powerful with it's amazing coveredge STAB Stone Edge and Close Combat. Both can Break through even the toughest walls after a Swords Dance. However it's vulnerablility to priorty is quite annoying due to a priorty filled generation.

I also would like to make a bold statement that many of you will disagree with. Stall is not dead. With Nattorei being a new defencive addition, stall is actually getting more succesful. That Water Ghost thing makes an amazing counter to almost every fire type in overused. Latias can be used as a special glue as it was reintroduced. Skarmory can also be used as it counters the metagames many threats. Chansey also is getting the spotlight this generation thanks to Evolution Stone Boosting defence and special defence of the not completly evolved holder. People were just overwealmed by the offencive wake of Pokemon.

So as you can see, this metagame is a very nice one actually. It many be unbalanced in the early stages, but things do settle sooner or later. More diverse teams than standard weather will be made and this will be an enjoyable metagame.

@palkia dialga clash - I completely agree with you. The 5th gen added a lot of variety in the teams you can make. And yeah Shandera is not that great! I was one of the people that fell for its hype and got disappointed countless times in battles. Ononokusu is a beast though if you use Dragon Dance. But there are many good pokemon and the old ones have even improve too so there is no brokenness, you just have to plan things out right for your team. And Stall is definitely alive and well, there are a lot of defensive walls in this game.
