When you see the counterparts, at least I think that the gen 5 ones are almost always better and more interestingly designed.

Ah...ah...I'm sorry what?

^ Well, that doesn't mean all, but I prefer Patrat and Watchog a little more than Rattata and Raticate. But sure, I think the Magnemite line is better than the Klink line. I simply think 5th Gen has it's pros and cons.

Least Liked Generation: 1st (Don't get me wrong, I love replaying it and all that, but only 152 leaves me with wanting more than just this ) or 4th gen (not the Pokemon, but rather the fact that diamond and pearl are so slow, and sinnoh is boring )
First Pokemon Game To Play & Own: Red Version (Day 1)
Favourite Nintendo Console: Gameboy Advance (and their variants )

All added guys keep it up, and yes generation 5 was the worst generation they ran out of ideas without Gen 1 there would be no Gen 5 grow up and stop bashing people for their opinion. It is what this thread is about people's opinions.

Are you not doing the same here? While you have your own opinion about Gen 5, this is meant to be a calm, opinionated thread yes? Without the bashing?
Then you should do so yourself.

Also in my opinion, I don't feel it entirely has to do with age, but rather the maturity and acceptance for change that one has. If one bashes new generations constantly, without many valid reasons (I'm gonna be honest here, as an artistic fellow myself, I find Gen 5 and 3 to have the best designs), it shows a lot of immaturity and a lack of acceptance. If it's a gen that just doesn't fit into your taste then it's understandable. If you were a true fan of Pokemon, you would at least accept it rather than claim the artists are running out of ideas, are you the artists? No? Exactly. Fun fact: It can be gathered that Gen 5 Pokemon might also consist of scrapped Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon.

I just have to say that is an awful argument. Just because a person isn't the artist doesn't mean they don't have the right to have an opinion and on top of that you just say that everyone should have the same view on Gen 5. You throw the whole concept of critique out the window.

Also they were scrapped for a very good reason.

Well you completely missed my point.

I'm not saying everyone should have the same view, I know people don't like Gen 5 for good reasons. It's nice to get opinions, but it's the constant bashing that also throws the concept of critique out the window. Though I will say there are a few Gen 5 Pokemon I don't like that much, but it can be said for a lot of generations too. Each gen has it's own bad pokemon design.

A definition of bashing in this context would be:
"to criticize; to join in the destructive criticism of someone or something"
Dictionary.com

Even saying it without the intent to be helpful still gives the artists something to work from. After all I am guessing they try to aspire to everyone's taste. You're right, that not every Pokemon looks good to everyone. People can't make perfect pieces of artwork all the time. (They wouldn't be artists if they wouldn't try.) But bashing is a form of critique, whichever way you look at it.

I guess you're right in a few ways~
It's just sad seeing the destructive way rather than the average way. 8'C
