Pokemon and parents; good combination?

Should I try and get my dad to play the Pokemon TCG?

@dmaster - Yeah, I guess you're right. :(
At least I've got people to play on Lackey/RS!

@luigi - So your brother doesn't play TCG, but he plays the games? I actually got my bro to play Fire Red for a while since he liked it when it first came out (In Europe) and so he was an oldschool player, but with the rest died, with the arrival of the second gen. I miss those days, too. ^_^

Oh, he collects Pokemon cards with me and I introduced him to the games. He got Diamond the day it came out but didn't "really" play it until a few months ago. :)

Eh, this sounds sort of like my mom. :\ My dad gets uber-obsessed and into any game we play (we meaning me, my brother, Bob Franklin, and my boyfriend ChloeLuver3), but my mom is having a harder time learning it. Plus, she doesn't really want to wait around for hours at tournaments, and she has trouble reading small text and remembering certain things about the game. Either we're not very good teacher(which is probably the case), or she just doesn't understand. x'D My mom does love Pokemon, the anime especially, just not the TCG.

I was a bit tentative about starting the TCG a few months ago; I had always wanted to play it, ever since I was 6, but dad wouldn't teach me for some reason. :| My first few decks were horrible, too, so that discouraged me even more. I just couldn't find a powerful card that was cute or appealed to me, until I found Leafeon.

Does your dad know a lot about Pokemon? If he does, or even if he doesn't, show him some cards and see if any of their designs appeal to him. Then, try to form a deck around that, if possible. Also, your brother sounds like a goof. Pokemon is sort of like the Disney corporation; it is a franchise aimed at all different ages, and it's not just a kid's thing. Just take your dad to a tournament, and he'll probably be surprised by how many adults play. (In our state, the amount of adults completely overwhelms the Juniors and Seniors. @w@)

Good luck on finding an engaging way to get him into the game! ;3 Hope is never lost!

@ cool - Yeah, when I lived in Germany, I actually got my mom to play also, and she actually supported me, but my Dad...

@ Indiana Pikachu - Like Achmed the Dead terrorist would say, "Silence! I call you Indiana Pikachu because I like your avatar." I couldn't resist it, FRIDGE.

@ Luigi - Yeah, my older bro introduced me into this, too.

@TehQiGL - He doesn't know squat and I've tried so many times to show him my cards and all that stuff but his excuse is that he's too busy. Yeah right. :(

When I was 6, I got my first deck. My dad tatught me how to play, and then well, I kept on playing. I am not a big fan, but I get cards occasionally. My dad plays every so often, but he can't make decks :)
Try to get your dad to try by telling him you'll try something he likes, like the Unit. Then, you spend x2 time with him!

I've been watching as much Unit as I can for the past two months, though. Every week, a new episode comes on, and he discusses so much about it; the obvious things for one, certainly. He always has to criticize and comment on EVERYTHING that is happening when we watch it; I'm like, "Could we have just a little moment of silence please for at least a second?" But yeah, I get what you mean. Strange; your dad got you into the game instead of the other way around. Cool!

my parents are supportive but dont play they fund my card pool and my travel expenses.
it would be cool if they would play too but it would cost too much.

My dad plays. My mom says it's too complicated. And this is coming from the person who taught me Cribbage!

BTW If you could give me credit for the title then I won't have to press charges. LOL. But seriously. I want credit.
