Completely forgot I had an account here =P So, here are my thoughts about the Shadows decklist:
I have my doubts about the Shadows list from Pokegym being true for a number of reasons:
- It has more Supporters. That hasn't been done yet for BW Theme Decks: they always have the same amount. I don't see why they'd suddenly change that (yeah, because Raiders has lots of Tools I suppose, but I still doubt it). Cilan is also in no way comparable to Juniper.
- Way too few Darks. How is Zoroark supposed to work with this? I was surprised Raiders got so many Tools for Con as that's pretty rare for a Theme Deck, so I'm especially surprised Zoroark isn't properly supported. Sure, Raiders got lots of Dark Pokemon already, but still... At least Raiders had few Psychics because the set lacks them.
- No Item from Dark Explorers while Raiders got 2x Dark Claw. I really expected 2x Dark Patch as the equivalent of that (I did NOT expect Dark Claw like others expected, though. At least that's correct in this decklist)
- As points 1 and 3 (and kinda point 2 as well) show: Theme Decks usually are similar to each other (IF possible). Like also the single stage-2 line etcetera. So, I really expected 4x Eevee with 1x Glaceon and 2x Umbreon (the one that ISN'T in Raiders. It's the same rarity after all) (or just 1 Umbreon and instead a Vaporeon as the third Eeveelution).
- The list just sucks in general. This isn't a surprise with Theme Decks, but even for a Theme Deck it's really disappointing: it's the same quality as the Emerging Powers Theme Decks.
I really hope my hunch is correct and he just posted a fake list...
I too thought that there would be an umbreon in there, but at least the rares sort of go with each other.
Zoroark Cofagrigus
Empoleon Krookodile
Glaceon Espeon
Swanna Scrafty
The deck name logos are different from the ones from Black and White to Next Destinies, so maybe they are doing something different this time.
It has been standard for many sets, but it is always the case that one deck would get sold way more than the other one. I can prove it by the number of unsold decks that are still flocking wal-mart shelves.
Examples, from BW onwards, are, Green Tornado, Toxic Tricks, Fast Daze, and it is still too early to see which one of Explosive Edge or Voltage Vortex will become a shelf warmer. Looking at the Shadows decklist, that deck becomes the shelfwarmer, while Raiders will sell more.
My point, I keep on telling "them" to make both decks equal in incentive to buy, but, it is always the case that one sells way more than the other, and the constant Red Frenzy sellouts, and the Green Tornado shelf warmers aren't helping either.
I can also look at Noble Victories, and I know that Fast Daze is crap in comparison to Furious Knights because of those, those fish that look like snakes.
Between Voltage Vortex and Explosive Edge, Explosive Edge is the better deck, I think, but Voltage Vortex would sell because of the Zekroms. I used Voltage Vortex to face Explosive Edge, and I can say that Weavile stinks when the other deck doesn't have any tools, while the rares from Explosive Edge are all usable, Reshiram, Persian, Chandelure, and Beartic.
Still waiting for a video of someone actually opening both Raiders and Shadows, and, here's the important part, unraveling the playmat and showing it to the viewers. I just can't wait a few more days, and however the playmat looks like dictates which one of the two I would buy.
