Pokemon Booster Packs being sold at Gamestop

I just found this out and I have $50 in gift cards to Gamestop and I am so happy what do you think. v_v

My friend told me that they were selling X and Y booster packs at a Gamestop, so I called a different Gamestop and asked them if they had Pokemon cards, and they did. They had a single booster box, and they weren't being advertised at all, it was just sitting behind the counter. I asked one of the employees what was up with the sudden Pokemon cards, and he said that he just came in that morning and there they were... So weird. But yes, they sell them online too. It just seems like if they were going to make this a thing that they would advertise for it.

They used to sell them back in the old days when Neo Genesis was out. Man I miss those days... I remember pretending to go out with my friends for lunch and my parents would give me 20$ and I would blow it all on Pokemon packs...

But that was when they were only 2 or 3$... not 4.25... plus I'm not a big fan of the newest sets so sadly I'll have to pass. What I wouldn't give to travel back in time...

Ahhhh, I remember buying tons of Ruby and Sapphire packs for like, $2 when they stopped stocking cards.

Kind of want to buy a pack just to say, "Gamestop Pack!" again. haha.

Does anybody know if this is at ALL Gamestops, or just certain local stores? I would love to get packs from there considering I have some leftover money on my gift card AND I'm apart of their rewards program.

It'd be cool if you could redeem your points for Pokemon packs online, but who knows if they'd ever do that. :p

I don't know, but it seems like this is becoming a thing. God knows why it's just the Pokemon TCG. They could make a lot of money off of Magic and other TCGs.

EB Games (owned by Gamestop) has been stocking Pokemon, MTG, Yugioh, and Cardfight Vanguard for a while (since at least this time last year - when I got back into the Pokemon TCG).

Of course, Pokemon boosters are often $6 and I have to hassle them to pricematch to obscure TCG specialty stores to bring it down to $5 so it's still a little expensive, but at least Australia's on the ball with this stuff.

Oh, and there was a dry spell from like Xmas til the XY release where all Pokemon TCG stock was gone (in all stores, not just EB). Seems like the popularity is definitely rising.

I saw this at my local game stop when I went to pick up EDF and it made me sad.

I have sellers remorse already... :(

New Zealand is the hardest place to get a large amount of cards, packs are $8.00 at the least.
EB Games is ok for cards, but normally I just go to Pulsar Max (a figure and collectible shop) and they have a good amount of boxes like the Deoxys and Legendary Dragons of Unova. They have Next Destinies packs, but no Dragons Exalted. Why? D:

^ Ahhh there is a thing called being out of stock XD. I usually buy singles, but whenever I get any EB games vouchers I head over to buy some packs now that they stock them.

Just saw this on my Twitter feed:

Guess TCG packs are in all stores now? Woo!

My Local Gamestop is literally right next door to northwest sports cards, who while they prefer magic and don't give pokemon the time of day, they sell all TCG packs for $3.75 tax included, so nice try gamestop, unless you plan on leading the revolution on pack prices this isn't going anywhere..

Except for giving Pokemon TCG players a chain of retail stores where they can buy packs for less than at most big box stores such as Target. :p Lots of places sell packs for less, it's just that some people aren't as fortunate to have a card shop near them.

Well i guess that true, but i'm just saying, there's a Walmart, Target, Fred Meyer, 2 card shops, and 2 gamestops within 1-2 miles most being less, so there's some competiton up here.

not to mention, Walmart and Fred Meyer allow me to feel the packs before buying due to ignorance whereas I expect gamestop might be like card stores and they just give you whatever packs their mitts pick up first

There's tons of competition here too. But I know what you mean. However, to address your second point, in my experience, the guy at GameStop let me pick out every pack I wanted. Also, feeling how heavy packs are just plain doesn't work unless you have a scale, and that's just plain wrong in my opinion. While I still find myself going for the "heavier" packs, I also have a habit of thinking weight = the sturdiness of the paper on the outside of single packs (when I go to Target)...
