Pokemon card artwork discussion thread.

Neo artwork, mostly this: http://pokebeach.com/scans/neo-genesis/5-feraligatr.jpg

There's just something about the basic Sugimori artwork that compliments the backround.

Might as well add to the discussion.

Well, I've always liked Hikaru Koike's artwork on ex cards. Some examples are here. It's always been my favorite. I love how they show the darker sides of the Pokemon, and how the dark and light points of the Pokemon contrast so well. It really shows what Pokemon are, not just Pokemon, but Pocket Monsters. They're eerie and mysterious, and…
It's hard to explain my love for his artwork.
^yep. My fav artist also. I also like pretty much anything from the Neo Series, anything from the E-series, and kawayoo art.

Probably the best artwork in the game imo http://pokebeach.com/scans/black-white-promos/bw06-snivy.jpg ik its pretty new, but still some of the best artwork.

shiruzow is a great artist.
aside from that snivy, he also did a ton of lv.Xs including darkrai cresselia.
great 3d artwork with nice shadows and contrast

some of my favorite artwork are done by:

Tokiya: has amazing art. focuses alot on shadows and muscular definition

i also like cards done by sui and match. very neat, colorful and pastelly

I have to say I LOVE the way Darkrai Cresselia legend looks(which is weird considering i don't even like darkrai and cresselia)

Really though i only like the way darkrai looks,so warped and twisted.

yea, legend artworks are in a class of their own.

u can frame those up and put it on a wall

As far as legends go I think Ho-oh legend is my favorite for artwork.

I really like the art done by Naoyo Kimura. My fav would have to be this card I just think it is what jolteon and pokemon in general should look like.

Bwaaaa

^yeah I like that the jolteon in that picture isn't following the recurring theme of angry/fighting pokemon. yeah tcg is all about us battling and the show/franchise has a lot to do with battling, but there's also the peaceful aspect of it outside of fighting. it's nice to see that every once in a while.

For as much as I really love a lot of the epic, beautiful artwork you see in some pokémon cards, my favourite picture of all time is probably this one. I think what seals it is the derpy looking Bellsprout on the right that looks like it's about to fall over backwards. It just makes you wonder "... how am I actually fighting with this thing?"

LEGEND Cards are amazing.

So are basically EVERY Holo from the Delta Species series.

LV.X > Primes for sure.

As far as art goes, I would have to agree. While I do like the art on some primes, it's just close ups of the faces and not much else. =/
But with lv.xs my favorite lv.x art would probably have to be Blaziken FB lv.x! http://pokebeach.com/scans/supreme-victors/142-blaziken-fb-lv.x.jpg

^but what is the WORST lvl x art

ready for it?

garchomp

UHG that art just annoys me. it looks so NONTHREATENING.

which I think is impressive that they somehow managed to capture garchomp in a non-threatening way....that pokemon is one of the scariest out there, so kudos to that artist for accomplishing that feat ;)
