You can only have 4 of each pokemon right? That counts lv x and ex's correct? But does not count SP pokes? Oh and in POP play are darkness and metal energy basic?

Sorry its been awhile since i played.

ok then so i can 4 rotoms, and a rotomSP(if it exists)? and There are basic and special dark and metal energy? What sets are they in?

EDIT: can you evolve a basic pokemon to a stage 2 in one turn? EX: dratini to dragonair to dragonite? or does it have to be basic to stage one(end turn) (your next turn) stage one to stage two? Also can you evolve a pokemon as soon as it comes into play? Same questions about lv x pokes.

1. You can only have four of a pokemon this includes shinys (DP-on only) and lv Xs. Exs, shinys from before DP, and pokemon with varing names (ex. Deoxys Normal forme) again from DP on count as different pokemon so you can play four of each (except shinys which are one).

It's simpler to show this way
4 normal/Shiny from DP on/ lv Xs
4 Exs
4 SP versions/SP lv X
4 with different forme (only if the forme is specified)
1 Shiny (Prior DP)
(confusing ain't it)

Simply you get 4 per name. If the name is different (delta doesn't count) they are a different pokemon thus you can play 4 of them. Arceus is the Only card that bypasses this rule.

2. Darkness and Metal have two different versions. The special are the ones with text and the ones without text are basic.

EDIT: To your last question. You can only evolve a pokemon to a stage two given one of three things. 1.If the pokemon has a power that allows it (ex. Metapod from GE) which often need a coin flip and get it from the deck. 2. You have Broken Time Space (BTS) in play. 3 If you play Rare Candy.

You CANNOT Level up a Pokemon that has just been laid down or evolved without using either Level MAX or Promo Porygon Z's Running attack.

Just to let you know, you can't use Rare candy on a Stage One to evolve it to Stage Two.

thanks you and the pokemon count thing is confusing. so could i have 4 shellos west sea and 4 east sea? thanks for all the help.

If you look closely at the card, it separates the card's identity by specifying which one it is. In order words, they are consider different Pokemon and you are allowed to use four of each.

ok cool.

EDIT: What's the easiest way to get metal energy? I have 5 metal pokes and only 2 metal energy? basic or special.

To get Basic Metal energy, there are a few theme decks that have a good amount of them in them. The Heatran one from Legends Awakened is the most recent one I can think of having those. Special Metal Energy are found in Rising Rivals and a few other sets (which ones exactly I dont know).

Completing Lou's Answer, Special Metal energy is in Mysterious Treasures, Secret Wonders, Majestic Dawn, and Rising Rivals, but RR is the best set out of them.

thanks. i'm trying to run a deck around the 3 dragons. i'm thinking of cutting giratina.

EDIT: also on the older cards. whats the weakness if it only has a type and no numbers? how much damage does it do?

On older cards, there are played as-is with Weakness being X2 and Resistance being -30.

ok so someone weak to fire would take 100 damage from an attack that deals 50.
