Here's another one. The theory that Butterfree was intended to be the evolution of Venonat, but due to a mix up Venomoth became the evolution instead. Compare the designs of Butterfree and Venonat to one another, the resemblances (mouth, eyes, hands, feet, antennae) are uncanny...

Regarding the theories in the OP, the Wobbuffet one blows my mind, but it does make a lot of sense. Clefable and Gengar is also pretty weird!

I've never thought of the butterfree thing before, that's a nice thing to point out X3
I love the wobuffet theory. I also blows my mind. XD

The Wobbbuffet theory surprised me too. It seems totally plausible, and realistic! Wobbuffet has so many countering attacks that it reflects back any damage back at the attacker instead of letting it hit its body (and tail)

Those Lavender Town Syndrome articles are entertaining stories, but nothing more than that.

I'm willing to believe that the Lavender Town theme contains high pitched notes that when listened to on headphones and at a high volume may cause some listeners headaches and other such discomforts, I don't see how it could cause insanity and suicidal thoughts. I think someone just found out about those high pitches and their effects and decided to stretch the truth, either to make Lavender Town seem even more creepy, to try to make Pokémon into some demon out to get our kids or to cure his own boredom.

That Butterfree/Venomoth mix up is an interesting thought and actually makes sense. I've wondered why Venonat doesn't have a cocoon stage, since both moths and butterflies emerge from cocoons in real life.

the lavender town theory was fake XD
there was a tiny sentence at the bottom that said that it was a work of fiction X3

The White Hand Sprite

Known in the code as WhitHand.gif, this was scripted to appear as a Pokemon on the third floor of the Lavender Tower. It is divided into four separate animations: an introduction (the “cry” a Pokemon unleashes before a battle), an idle, and two attacks. These attacks are unknown, as they are listed simply as “Fist” and “Brutal”. While viewing the animation has been proven to be hazardous, viewing the frames of the model has been proven to have no adverse effects. The White Hand is depicted as a shriveled, slightly decayed hand, with surprising attention to detail: flesh is peeling back from the bone, and several tendons dangle realistically out of the wrist. The first attack is the hand balling into a fist, then swinging forward. However, the “brutal” animation is missing several frames: The hand seems to open up, then cuts out. After a few seconds, it reappears, closed again. No record has been found of these missing frames.

Whoever fell on that must be really dumb. There was no way Pokemon Red/Blue could handle such a "well detailed sprite", much the less Pokemon Green.

The Lavender Town music owns. =]

Gengar/Clefable theory doesnt make any sense. It's like saying Mothim and Venomoth are similar because they are both Moths.

You may be wrong about your Zoroark and N theory. Zoroark is the Japanese name, What if the English starts with another letter? But you've got a point on the hair and shapeshifty thing

Zoroark has been confirmed as the English name.

Anyway, Zoroark as N does seem plausible. i would've loved Venomoth as a Metapod evo, but meh, they went and got mixed up :/.

Actually, someone linked to a video in the Chat about Lavender Town music. Apparently it did really cause a seizure and resulted in death.

dmaster out.

it seems like I heard about some type of incident to do with that. I thought it was all fake when I read the article though.

I have another good curiosity.
"Bagon has a dream of one day soaring in the sky. In doomed efforts to fly, this Pokémon hurls itself off cliffs. As a result of its dives, its head has grown tough and as hard as tempered steel." From the Ruby dex.

This is key evidence that Salamence and Flygon's name's were switched. BaGON, ShelGON, and FlyGON would make so much sense. Similar to the Butterfree theory, except they only screw up the names. Salamence as we know it should be named FLygon and Flygon as we know it should be named Salemence.

Although fake, the coma theory is a really good alternative explanation for the events in the anime, even if it obviously isn't what the creators intended, and I was just about to post tthe venomoth/butterfree one but he beat me to it :)

imho, the whole Gengar/Cleafairy thing must have been done on purpose, or the designers ran out of ideas that day. Or even (pokemon n00b here) Gengar IS a clefairy ghost.

And the Lavander town music, I can definitely believe it caused a seizure. The music is downright annoying, and high pitched. As for the other things in that article, they're extremely far-fetched.

And why are we surprised by the Butterfree/Venonat thing. . . .? If they're related to each other, it shouldn't be too much of a shock. :/ One has wings and one doesn't, end of story.

Bahhahaha. I absolutely love this theory. I do. And you're right, it does make so much more sense, when you put it that way.

all these theories are interesting. the come sounds like fanfic and is a cool idea. note: neither giovannia or oak are Ash's father, there is no REAL proof. in the final days of the pokemon anime pikachu will finally evolve and we will see ash's father. the butterfree theory actually makes sence. i think the wobbufett thing is acctually true. and the flygon/salamence thing is flawed. flygon(the real one) is based, partially, on a dragon fly. get rid of the dra in dragon fly andu have gonfly now move the letters abit and u have flygon.
the lavendar song is just annoying. and the zoroark thing....it just wont happen, im calling it now

The coma theory is absolutly ridiculous... That guy gotta stop doing drugs...

It DOES make alot of sense though, even if it isn't true.

Well, the show is a game, as seen in the very first episode, so it actually makes no sense, since everything fits in with generic "game physics". You see, the first episode, after the theme song and first commercial break, plays the sound of a GameBoy turning on and then goes to the intro from Red (A Gengar fighting a Nidorino). During that, the vid turns into a battle between a shadowy Bruno using Nidorino and an unspecified trainer using Gengar. Therefore, while Ash was jolted severely, because it's a game he should be okay. If anything, the last Pokemon episode/movie will involve a kid finally "beating" the game and turning it off, and we snap into the real world again. It'd be an epic Pokemon game, though, and one I'd love to play :)
