Pokemon Pokemon Types that NEED to be added

Light, enough said.

But what else do you think should be added?

If you insist on saying that "psychic" is the "light" of pokemon,
then ghost should be broken down to just dark.

In a sense Light is already covered by Fighting. Dark (as the type) is not more monster-like, but cunning and sneaky. As the Fighting type are the fighters that beat them, they could be thought of as Light.

I don't think types need to be added; sure, there could be some cool ones, but if you want, say a Robot type, that could be broken down into Steel and Electric. However that doesn't mean there couldn't be some cool new ones.

Actually, it's pretty balanced as it is. It would be neat to see a second type resistant to Dragon to bring them down a peg, but I don't know what it'd be (hint: not Light/Sound/Cosmic/Rubber/Alien/Virus/Robot/Glitch/[insert your custom type here because it probably sucks and is dumb])

I say they need to break the TCG down to where there are all 17 types. That way, for example, Grass types would not be resistant to Water, which includes their weakness of Ice. Other than that, leave it as is so we don't get confused.:p

If any types were added or removed, the balanced typing of the games would be lost. In Gen Two, Dark and Stee typesl, IIRC, were added to balances the typing. Certain types were too advantageous, Phychic, and under-used, Fighting. The new types balanced out the game, and it'd be foolish to try and wreck it.

But I never said anything about un-used types. They totally need to make a '???' type Pokemon.

None. It's appropriately balanced.

I would like to see some new legendaries that AREN'T dragon though. Then it will be balanced a lot better.
But yeah, like stated above, Fighting = Light.

While I've made custom-type blanks for fake cards, I'm of the opinion that the types are fine as they are. Most every type I've heard of can fit perfectly fine within an existing type. For example, Light can fit perfectly fine in (depending on physical light or "good") Electric, Fire, Psychic, or Fighting.

If they were to ever add a type, I suppose it could be Sound since there's already canonically recognized sound-based moves, but it's honestly not needed.

No new types need to be added to the video games. It would just mess up the system.

But the TCG on the other hand, they should break it down into all 17 types.

Okay, that's two people who have said the TCG needs to be broken down into 17 types.

And here's why that's an awful idea:

1) It gets confusing. 17 types? How are you to remember which card is of which type? It would make deck-building a disaster.
2) With anywhere around an equal number of cards for each type, there would be no combinations. And anything close to a good combination would ruin the format by being OP.
3) There would be not enough cards of each type to rely on countering any one type.
4) There isn't enough compatibility. Decks usually only work with very few types of energy - 17 types would make it really tough.

As far as the videogame goes, it's balanced as it is, but I do agree with CMP that Sound would be an acceptable 18th type.

Gasp! I didn't think about that. Building a deck with so many types... I have issues trying to build a deck with two types (not inculding colorless)!!! But It would be cool if TPC made like a special Jumbo Promo card with the Pokemon's actually type, example: Dragoinite. Since It'd be a jumbo you can play it, just for looks.

Yeah -- as fun as thinking about individual types for the TCG is concerned, it'd be too crazy. Although I like doing it for aesthetic purposes in Neo Redux. ;)

??? doesn't exist anymore (from Gen V-on).

The proposed "light" type seems indistinguishable from the current "normal" type imho, and as far as i'm concerned, Light and Psychic would have absolutely nothing in common? XD

The only type I can think of would be a virtual type for the Porygon family but it would definitely not be worth the hassle to make a brand new type for them.

I feel the types are balanced as is, but if anything was included I'd like to see something that resists Dragon. I think that Poison needs more things to be good against, so I'd like this type to be weak to that, along with the Ice type resisting it because Ice only resists itself. While we're at it I'd like to see Bug weak to Poison(it doesn't make sense that it's not currently) and the Grass type renamed as "Plant". Sound is an interesting idea for a type.

Gas=Poison or Flying. Either it means air, flying, or it means a poisoness gas, which is poison.

I think its just fine. Also ghost is not dark. Dark is mean tricks and cheatig for an advantage, ghosts are well....ghosts.
I think they should work on using as many type combinations as possible.

And how hard is it to have 17 types for the tcg. Its the biggest reason i dont play it.
